Some other ideas that have been mentioned before, but with a slight twist.
1. Allow ANY player to actually interact with the underworld NPCs. I am serious. By allowing this, every player is provided with a bit of new content, and it's not smuggler only. SOE likes that kind of thing. Content everyone can enjoy. So how does that help us? Well, only smugglers can actually achieve the mission objective, so players would have to hire/group with us to do their mission. The reward? They get a percentage of underworld faction, allowing them to take higher missions, and if things go wrong, they gain visibility as well. That way, we are still enjoying the game with our friends and getting them involved a bit in what it is like to be a smuggler.
2. Slicing of vehicles and starship components. This system wouldn't be hard to implement really, and I know is something many smugglers would enjoy. It broadens our market. Everyone has vehicles, and being a serious pilot myself I can't imagine what kind of REed high end parts would cross our hands for improvement.
Ok, although i like the idea. the problem with this (and really the problem with slicing regular weapons) is that we would be retreading ground already covered by RE. The main reason our slicing is not that exciting to me is that PowerUps already do what slicing ought to. We dont get much out of the slice. Not saying they arent still useful to a degree but definitly not exciting. I thinkstarship component slicing would be the same thing. really miniscule enhancements to preserve "balance". Vehicle's i dont have any say against. And POB ship slicing from inside the ship would be possible in this mannor because it would be temporary.
3. Active faction. I think the new missions are a step towards this but imagine this one. You have +5000 Jabba, -5000 Valarian. So instead of the wee mobs of Tat getting angry as you zoom by, what about 'old man' types of spawns where your enemy has sent forces out to 'get you'. Not sure if that is in the new Valarian quests, or accommodated by the new smuggler missions, but again, makes our life a little more dangerous.
4. Removal of languages from all players. For me, this would be one of the single most immersive things that could be done in SWG. You either have underworld 4, or buy a 3PO unit, finally giving them a use. All players start with their native tongue, and basic (except those that can't speak in basic). This makes it fun as well really. I mean, let's say Jabba doesn't like talking to droids. Hmmm, need a smuggler. So there could be some key quests ingame that you will need your smuggler friend, but for the most part, your 3PO will do (like on Kashyyyk). Most people speak basic anyway, and by learning all languages it kind of negates that tree for us. So this would give it value again
maybe just change it so you learn language by being around said language being spoken
I know there are tons of ideas out there. Let's just try to focus on ones that are easy to accomplish ingame, and what the positives would be.
Oh wow! ...just wow Wes ! do all correspondents get such bi^$h slappingor it's just you and Tiggs are on bad conditions,,,![]()
I mean you can replace all answers with "Shut the f^%*k up! Your questions annoy me! *slap*" and everything looks pretty much the same.... maybe it carries a bit more information = Tiggs hates Wes ![]()
We're going to be nerfed within a week or two after implementation
I can see already a rising whine on BH and rangers forum that KD+conc is SO UNFAIR and lets smugglers get away too easy
at least FD is f^(&^cked up enough already. We get most of it in first box (so PvP smugg dabblers wouldn't whine) and increase to ...+70 maX with no gain in MASTER smugg box (so the PvPers wouldn't whine that you can evade them having +120 as it SHOULD be) ...hilarious as it is at least it makes sense now why all abilities that could help smugglers in these 'delivery missions' were gradualy taken away

I'll go right ahead and QFE that, since they didn't like my idea of sending SOE the clap.
Veela you rock and im glad to see you still poking in here. and im agreeing with al the 1-2yr smuggler vets(only been one my self about 6 months now but im tied to the profession just as much) and this is utter crap. i hope this is some idea of a joke and teasing but as the track record shows......its doubtfull.
anymore responses from the DEV's like this(not Tigg's shes only the messenger) and ill drop smuggler for good and find another way of fighting(CC is my greatest skill it seems, even though i die fast cus of it)
and as far as player bounties on smugglers,,,,BRING IT ON!!! i can fight em with my jedi i want to fight em with my smuggler/carbineer to

/concusionshot
/callswoop
/drive away

When in space, will a craft's cargo hold have anything to do with what is transportable? (Smuggling crates of spice in a Z-95 or Tie-Fighter isn't exactly, well, practical, while cargo holds on POB sized ships would be able to hold far more/make more sense).
- No space interaction with this version of the system at all.
Dear Tiggs, Please send a message to your team to change the preceeding answer. Your treatment of JTL
since after ROTWhas been pitiful.

im a master rebellion pilot on my wook and stalemated(due to lazyness and non excitement) on my zabrak. sapce it great i love it really....but its not "active" enough. there are no quests to take while IN space other then frome space stations and thats not even all of them. JTL needs work....bad. and i hate those boxes on all the targetable t hings.....take the joy out of being htere and takes the space out of space
First off, I want space smuggling missions with out a doubt.
The Developers may see developing a solid (as bug free as possible) ground based smuggler mission as a first step towards the full system. It is apparent that the PVP system is still in question based on the answer given. To put it in perspective, If a new player buys the Base game(with out JTL) and wants to be a smuggler, he will need missions. Smuggler profession then give access to those missions like BH give access to their missions.
Space based missions will require JTL. I think we all agree to that. When the above new player decides to buy TTE and upgrade his account, then he can have access to the Space Smuggling mission content. Bantha-before-the-Cart as it were. After developing and implementing the Ground the devs can work up the Space. To put some Market sense to this: One of the future products(what we have to pay for) will have the Capital Ship addition. Our Space missions should come at about that time.
When will Capital Ships be launched? My guess would be timed to come out the same time as STO. Ahh Marketing and marketing events. The next Star Wars related promotion drive will, most likely be, The Saga Edition of the DVD's. Probably get another quick, throw together package of 50 quests and a planet. The big event that I want to know is if SOE is forward thinking of the Star Wars TV series. That should be our time as most (if not all) of that is set in the GCW. Problem is the animated Series comes first and its set in......the Clone Wars. Marketing has a very Heavy Rein hand on what the LucasArts products do. Try to see that and you can almost predict what is to come for SWG.
Why do I bring up Market events in light of Enhancing our profession? We have a limited number of Developers working on the whole of SWG. They may have their special jobs but they can be pulled away to develop such Market products like the Trials of Obi-Wan. Do you see where I am going? If you read the Dev Track you might remember we were to get constant fixes for a few publishes then dive in to the Profession Enhancments/Revamps. All that is subject to getting the new expansion out (semi-working) on time, ON TIME. Money, my fellow smugglers, drives the engine that keeps our fantasy land going. Less money, less concern. In that you can figure out the Jedi equation of SWG and the SOE/LA goal. Jaded as that thought might be, these companies are in it for profit on our fun.
We have come so far and built so much, we have wondrous Technology but ...."I still want my Flying Car."
