Thread: NOTHING effects slicing! It is RANDOM. There are no hidden patterns nor changes to the system!

Honestly **edit** was the point in telling us this?
I am a roleplayer. I am Unabunko Kwee-Kunee Ulwan, that is, in Huttese, Queen of the Smugglers. I have much backstory for my character, from helping Talon Karrde set up shop in the Outer Rim to making deals with the Hutts of Nal Hutta. I am even writing a novel of my experiences here and hoping to have it published professionally one day soon. It is all roleplay. I am a very public figure it's true, and yet, there is a deeper and more complex aspect to my character that few see. I am often loved, and seldom double crossed.

because it's creative and fun to the poster, which is a good thing in my book

Well, lets just say I took the key aspect of that technique, doubled it's power and still had random slices.
What is happening though, is I did not have a single aspect of that technique, which would make even less sense for it to matter... but the fact remains I don't have it.
So I'm meeting tomorrow hopefully to finish the testing on this.
Im going to create a schem of 25 survival knives on Eclipse, have them produced, then I'm going to monitor the %'s.
Though it does leave open the option of things like Pup slicing, I'll go on a limb to test this out to the end. Innocent till proven guilty and all that.

Bravo to you Caylin for being so open minded ![]()
I think we both know what the outcome will be though...

"Key aspect of the technique and doubled it's power"
Can I ask a small favor..
When you find this out to be nothing than a lovely little RP thing by whats-her-name, can you tell us what she told you?
I'm dying to know the avalance of bulls**t that she fed you
So I can look at the laundry list of what you need and laugh and laugh and laugh
Who knows, maybe she is in fact getting 30%+ and is just on the longest lucky streak in SWG history
The first 11% Effectiveness slice on a RIS Helmet that she gets.. can I point at her and laugh?
"But it worked.. I swear.. it worked......"

Uh...haven't we been down this road before?
Seems to me that every time a Smuggler claiming something like this has been tested before, there's always some sort of excuse, ranging from "I...uh...ran out of the right tools." to "The timing just wasn't right."
Why does my BS-o-meter tell me something similar will come of THIS test?

Some fantastic material in the Role Playing forum, and even in the smuggler forum I have enjoyed clearly marked RP posts... Just here I think there is a little "blurring" of RP and reality...

You know, even if this method "works" (and of all the claims I've heard before, from Rudd on, I've never seen one conclusively proven), it doesn't exactly sound like it has anything at all to do with the smuggling profession.
Although.. if, suddenly, we could all slice for 30%+.. maybe, maybe, we'd finally see a dev glance our way.
Though now that I think about it, that glance would probably last just long enough to nerf us before they tossed us back down our pit of neglect.

Doubled it's power, eh? Sounds like you have to have something in your inventory, a good luck charm.Ora certain kind of buff. Am I crazy? Yes. Why do I hope so badly this is another fraud case? Even though I'm not rich, I'm not just ready to believe something I've worked at for so many months and slaved endlessly over has some hidden "super switch" that could unravel the whole business.
Then again, I'm afraid of change.
Even if this were true, this brings us back to the everloving topic of picking attribute and percent. What's the point of charging them maybe two or three times your normal rate for a single gun with apredictable slicewhen you could get ten times it doing ten different guns having the hope for a "decent slice" (I hate that phrase, by the way, even if it is 'useless' to you, it is at least worth more on the market)

It's random. Been said and effectively proven with large (3000+) data sample test runs.

I don't even slice all that much anymore. Just for myself, and guildmates. I found it's easier to mass produce Clamps and sell them at a decent price. I've made about a Million credits over the last few weeks of doing that. and I only play a few hours every few days. I'm going to hold off on believing anything can help slicing abilities untill the revamp. (shortly there after I'll be going Ice Skating in hell, since it's going to happen about the same time.
