Well I think that you don't need anyone really in that position. Why? All you have to do is read what has been already been posted, time and time again. Those posts pretty much cover it all.
Proud to be a Smuggler and will never drop it. Heck to make me feel like I am smuggling I transport spice to other planets to place on the bazaar. Real dangerous, gotta watch out for those pesky STs....NOT!

This made me balk last night. I had written up a rather long submission and then after skimming through the forums a few last times before clicking submit, I came face to face with a cold hard fact. I have only been a Master Smuggler for a few months. I was a Smuggler for a period last year during my tryouts of various professions, but I never went to Master and it was not for a long period.

To add to your note here, not only should the candidate be a longtime smuggler, but I also feel the person should not be on the hunt for Jedi. A person who is dedicated to being a smuggler regardless, but also has a first hand knowledge of other professions and how they relate to smuggler. Not a hologrinder, but someone who has tried out many of the professions.

I wish all the applicants luck, I'm sure there are many of you who would do a fine job.

Red = Disagree

Someone not going for Jedi is a good idea because it detracts from the focus of the Smuggler profession, so I do agree with that. They should not confuse a Force Sensitive Smuggler with one that is going for Jedi either (which is nearly impossible to tell). I used to want Jedi, now I do not ... bu I am getting my FS skills to make myself a better Smuggler than ever before.

However, I would like to add any long-time Smuggler understands the professions how they relate to Smuggler. I could talk for Days on TKM/Pistoleer (because I am a TKM and a Pistoleer), and I could talk very well about professions such as Doctor (Buffs relate to combat Smuggler), Chef (foods...the good and the bad), Armorsmith (Good armor to wear & AUKs), Weaponsmith (Good pistols and VKs to use + WUKs), Ranger (to find things), Droid Engineer (what droids come in handy), Base Takedown teams (BH, SL, etc.)

I may not know how to craft the high quality armor since I have never been an Armorsmith, but I sure as heck know how and what to use, and where to get the best quality stuff on my server.

Anyway, I think you get the point. Just because I have been a dedicated Smuggler working initially on getting Master Smuggler (because that was the most important) and then getting Master Gunfighter...yes Master Pistoleer used to be called Master Gunfighter (because it made my Smuggler shots fire faster and more accurately), and finally Master TKA (because it made me able to stand toe-to-toe to nearly anything & meditate damage away).

Maybe it would be better to have someone who isn't jaded from the past experiences of being a Smuggler. If you've been a smuggler for a few months don't you really know the current issues with it and you can always read the forums for past information. The Correspondent should be someone who can help smugglers not someone who will keep complaining about the revamp getting pushed etc. Yes it stinks but what can we do about it.

I dunno if it makes any difference, but I meant someone who has tried many of the support professions along with Smuggler, such as Commando, Pistoleer, TKM, hell, even Musician, or something to compliment it for profit or combat ability. Some first hand understanding of some of the complimentary professions people are doing couldn't hurt for the correspondent.

As for FS. I've kept my mouth shut for the longest time about it. I'll freely admit I think the FS/Jedi system in SWG sucks, because there are too many people who are either FS or Jedi. People in all the classes asking why FS skills don't relate to them better. Han Solo wasn't FS (can be argued, has been, and will again), neither was Lando. It just urks me a bit that Jedi and FS have become so important in this game. I'm not FS, I could easily become FS by visiting 1 POI and completing the last phase of the Rebel Theme Park, but I choose not to. I'm a smuggler. Soon everyone will be FS. This is supposed to be Star Wars Galaxies, not KOTR. But, that's my opinion and I don't think we should debate it here, it's been beaten to death anyway.

Just wanted you to understand my professions comment so you didn't think I was an idiot or n00b.

I understand your points on not wanting FS, however I would suggest that you give it a try. The village gives you more content in the game and some interesting things to do (with some interesting prizes). You can get FS and just do the quests never training in any skills (so never using any skill points)...but it gives you more to do that is actually somewhat fun.

I agree that the first-hand knowledge of support professions (or other combat professions) definately would not hurt..and I would think that just about anyone who has been a Smuggler long enough to have a shot at this has gone beyond the Master Smuggler only profession.

As far as thinking you were an idiot or a noob, I didn't think either. You have been around long enough to know and are clearly not a noob... and your comments are taken respectfully as an opinion. In turn, I provided my feedback on the comments on what I thought. You are clearly neither a noob, nor an idiot ... If you original post said something like "we wantz ppl with xp to be crspndt" or something equally vague and annoying ... then I might think you were an idiot .

As far as I have seen 99.9% of all the Smugglers seem to be the wisest people in the galaxy ... which is better for all of our profit .

(added afterthought) ... ... You can also think of the FS skills as getting even better because you have been a Master for so long. I have been a Triple Master for longer than I care to admit ... I think it makes sense that I would get a little bit better, and it lets me use the 3 remaining skillpoints.

I understand the concept here but remember this person more needs to be someone capable of organizing and summarizing your good ideas and viewpoint. Someone that is passionate about helping the profession AND the game as a whole. They need to be capable of relaying information and dedicated to championing the causes that the majority here and in game feel are important to their gameplay experience.

Being a smuggler for a long time or well respected can certainly be an important part of this but there will be those that are newer yet still have the ability and desire to be of tremendous help.

Tiggs forgot one very important qualification for all smugglers let alone our correspondent...

Masochist.

Smuggler, Smuggler, Smuggler Pie, Two years of "Soon"(TM), a harsh bunch of lies.
Ask me a riddle and I reply: "Smuggler, Smuggler, Smuggler Pie"

Smuggler, Smuggler, Smuggler Pie, Dancers can't smuggle and neither can I.
Ask me a riddle and I reply: "Smuggler, Smuggler, Smuggler Pie."

Smuggler, Smuggler, Smuggler Pie, Why are there Jedi, I don't know why.
Ask me a riddle and I reply: "Smuggler, Smuggler, Smuggler Pie."
