I think that being a long time smuggler who isn't going for Jedi is extremely important. Our revamp is going to take up a lot of time and energy when the day comes, and to be distracted by jedi issues would be detrimental to the success of the project.

Knowing the history is critical, too. New smugglers with energy and a fresh point of view is good - but to know the heart and soul of the profession and the people here, as well as knowing what the community wants to fight for, and the continuing outstanding issues is vital. Those are things old posts won't pass across as well without having lived the experience.

The two outstanding issues (among several) are the spice downer change, and the autopull break. These are 2 examples of things the developers did to us without any real discussion. We need to at least know why, and a newer smuggler might not be aware that the spice downer was broken on us.

Panic shot is another good example. The devs were supposed to revisit that special for us when they got the warcry thing altered. We're still waiting on that revisitation. I'm sure there are new smugglers out there that aren't even aware that PS used to couple up very nicely with Low Blow. Our quintessential combo was destroyed.

I could go on and on, but I think I got my point across. We need someone seasoned in this role, with the community, young and old, squarely behind him.

I agree he would have to be dedicated to the cause but new or old forging his idea isn't the goal for a correspondant it is listening to the people and relaying their feelings and ideas. Just like the ones you made here the correspont should takes these issues and get the general feelings and suggestions for these and others and organize and summarize these views and let SOE know just how important the community feels the issues are.

I respect your views on this matter though and agree that past experience is a nice selling point in the resume just no the most crucial in my opinion.

When I first got Smuggler ... it was before any nerfs ... we were far more deadly than we are now.

I would think the most crucial is the ability to listen (or read) and to pass along a summary of the important information. (both ways ... to and from the Devs & Community). In that thought though, the past experience gives the knowledge to better guage the information.

on the other point somone who has tried out other professions and made this one their home seems crucial to me...the problem with most changes in this game is that they do not take into account the game as a WHOLE.

Look at how other profession revamps have affected each other poorly and you will see what I mean.

It is entirely possible that we get a change that wrecks another part of the game or the economy further. You would have to have love for the game AND the profession.

Agreed, but I also think that someone who has been smuggler a long time will understand these things also. And the reason I originally stated that I wanted someonewhohas been a smuggler a long time is this:

Smuggler is a nerfed profession (yet is still fun). Anyone who has been a smuggler a long time has seen major disappointments and yet still believes in the profession. Just the fact that you are a long time smuggler indicates a love and compassion for the cause. So not only does a long time smugglerknow the history, they've already proven their love and concern over a long period of time. I think there will be major disappointments to come yet, and I know that a long time smuggler won't be bailing out when the frustrations mount.

And I also want to say "no Jedi chasers". My reason for this opinion is based on a negative experience in one of my other professions. We had a beloved correspondent leave and get replaced by a person who nobody in the profession had heard of. Not sure what the devs were thinking there. It wasnt long before he was off chasing Jedi and spending more time in that forum than the profession forum. I want the correspondent to be dedicated to Smuggler, not "doing it on the side".

Too much RL. If I could do the sand-box I would not be resigning.

You can say that again. God have mercy on whoever is the new Correspondant. A whole year and not a damn thing was done to Smuggler.

Unless of course banning many innocent people during the multi-slice thing was going on, screwing up our crates, and ignoring us count as things being done.

Hitting on women around the streets, seeing if they wanted to hook up with 'the smuggler correspondent'.

What else?

This title has to be good for *something*.

I know I am posting late on this but then agian not much of a point in posting on this boards atm anyways. So, why are we even bothering with a correspondent for Smuggler? As the class is right now we simply don't need one. Until we get our revamp a correspondent is not needed. GreenMarine can and has posted for himself what he wanted info on for the "someday" revamp so why do we need a Smuggler one atm? The DEVs have about nerfed or screwed up most of the skills Smugglers have already and they have been told this enough times that by even even a rock could figure whats wrong in the profession. So again, why do we need a new Correspondent? Smugglers should simply say no and wait until the revamp is actually going to take place because until that time Smugglers simply do not exist to the DEVs no matter what they say to try and save face.

Why have a correspondent until that person can actually do something other then be the DEVs pet monkey and deflect some of the shouts for their headsfrom the Smugglers.

I support server merging of some sort for the betterment and longevity of the game and it's player community!

Because without a Corr, there will be no one to remind the devs about the promised revamp.
