The thing is, saying we just delay/mez is now true of all other professions. TKA now "Just" tanks , Rifleman now "Just" deals damage. While you can make it with just one combat profession, you're not going to 1) be able to take on things at the same level as someone with two combat professions or, 2) have the same tactical options and/or be as proficient at your role as someone with two professions. The whole ethos of the profession set up (rather than the MMO class set) is that you take on several professions on the basis of what each has to offer, with each offering something different, with many complimenting each other in varying ways. This makes the system diverse and allows everyone to customise their character as they desire.
Which is all well and good, but those of use who are also (and want to be) pistoleers are going to be 100% crowd control... And while everything I'm reading about the CU has be psyched... I am concerned that I'm not going to be doing any damage as a MS/MP - Which is what I want to play.
Personally, I just don't want to own a rifle. It isn't in my... ah... my ah...
"Idiom, sir?"
IDIOM!
My character is going to be smuggler/pistoleer and unfortunately i wont be able to fight anything with this template, reading through the in concept forums it mentions smugglers being hunted by npc BH's so in order to survive i have to sacrifice pistoleer to take something like BH to survive.
I think that smuggler and pistoleer go together really well though with the changes this template is only good for one thing crowd control, of course how it works in practice may be diferent as this is my first thought.
Ill be testing the hell out of smuggler and smuggler type of templates and top of the list are smuggler/pistols, smuggler/BH, smuggler/commando, and smuggler/fencer i hope these live up to all i would like.

4) Nick...son you better check yo'self before you wreck yo'self. Perhaps what you're seeing is the benefit of experience. Maybe some of us looked at those In Concept Threads, saw how far down the road that was gonna be, how wrapped up in the CU those boys are, added in the Rage of the Wookiees retardation and said, "Hey, ya know? I COULD start fighting this now, but I'm not gonna, because they're not listening." Know when to hold'em. Know when to fold'em. Honestly has there been ONE developer response in their? No. Because they're not paying attention to that right now. Some devs are still building on it in secret. But they ARE getting bum rushed on the CU and the Expansion (I mean come ON, who do YOU think came up with that May 5th date? SOE? Psh. Please.) ? The point is there is NO purpose in haranguing on that NOW. Was I disappointed? Yep. But does that have anything to do with this subject? Nope. So watch who you're calling spineless (oh and some of us old schoolers, by the by, might have developed more complicated LIVES while we were at it).
So let's all remember we're all smugglers in arms, and get back to being CONSTRUCTIVE. Thank you.

I guess it's fairly evident that some of us who have been "holdin' 'em and foldin' em"are getting tired of doing laundry. It's easy to keep saying "it's not so-and-so's fault" and casting the blame for mismanagement on some faceless entity in some corporation for our disappointments with how the Smuggler profession has been treated over the last two years -- not to mentionthe debacles in community management as well as how the development effort itself has been handled.
I am still curious as to why Gordon left at this critical juncture and why he did sowith no farewell to the community. Seems like very interesting timing to me.
Lilac Moon
Total parody of George Lucas on the Simpsons right now. Very Very fitting. He rode of to the video store on a taun-taun.
I tell ya, when things are coincidental, they're coincidental.

The problem, as I think we all know, that de jure is NEVER de facto. If crowd control (or defense or offense) do not have a balanced chance of winning in a one-on-one engagement, we will have spent all this time on a Combat Upgrade that doesn't truely balance the system. IF defense-stacking or damage-output or crowd control-stacking ends up being the "best" way to kill things, then all the CU will have done is to change the uber-template status quo.
