Hey folks, let's let this thread drop, the back and forth between each other is not the kind of input that I need =).

Please post in the new like and dislike stickies.

Thanks!

Thanks for the update, TH. It's been chaffing for a long time that the best I can build, at level 9, was easily outdone by level 2-4 RE'd capacitors and level 6 and 8 RE'd engines. This is something that's been long overdue.

This almost makes me want to subscribe again with my WS/Shipwright. I was very close to dropping SW a few months ago for this very reason. Crafted items should ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS be superior to looted items, except for a RARE occurrence on a loot (extremely rare). In other games, it's different mainly because crafting does not use up your COMBAT skill points. In this game, you have to sacrifice all the content of the game in order to craft. So we should definitely be rewarded.

I heard something about a very nice Carbine dropping in the new ROTW quests. I haven't checked into this myself to see what the stats are compared to crafted carbines, but I certainly hope it is not a superior item. Otherwise we'll be in the same boat we're in here.

Anyway... good news, TH. Thanks for the info!

There is a pretty good Carbine you can get on the RoW quests (along with some other nice items as well). As far as the new ships earnedon the RoWquests? They will remain that way. Looking to the future, players will get more items to craft and there will also be more quest/loot items - - it isn't going to be all one or all the other.

Here's mine.

1) Since I loaded up "Wookie World" I can't get item data to download on venders. The bazaar terminals work fine, but if I go to a player run vender, most of the time item details will not load. Funny because sometimes I can check the merchant next to them and everything loads fine, but for most the details won't. This limits my RE-able parts supply to the bazaar term (good luck finding anything over lv 3 there) and word of mouth.

2) I have yet to complete a Firespray Schematic ... I know this is pre-wookie world, but still. I have 4 large houses I use for all this storage sorting and itemizing and stocking up to RE parts, I spend a lot of time in there.... but 2 schematic pieces is all I've ever got.

3) Mining asteroids is best done solo in a fighter with 3 gun slots (something Imps don't have). Not the new (I might add well done for the most part) Y-8 which has a tough time tracking asteroids, strangly enough seems to be most effective when used solo with a good shield because you have to chase them around even with a crew.

4) Adressed in earlier replies, elite POB gear not being any better than normal gear.

5) Filtering items! ... omg I wish I could filter out non-RE-able items on venders and bazaar!

I hope SHIPWRIGHTS will be the ones to craft those cap ships. Basically, if it boils down to "funness," then don't cut shipwrights out of the "fun."

The players who own the vendors your looking at have yet to unload and reload the vendor. When CU went live, there was no way for these items to be converted by the system, the only way to get it done is to remove these items from the vendor and then offer them for sale again. Moving the stockroom and back doesn't fix it. Has to leave the vendor and come back.

I've been a shipwright since jtl launch, re'ing a decent amount per month. Still only have 2 disks myself. I kinda like the rareness, I'd hate to see too many of these flying around. Also makes for a nice sale price when you finally get all 8.

Can't really say much on this matter, don't have one myself yet.

POB gear is much better than normal gear if made properly, however there is an issue that may be causing some problems with certain stats required by the schematics and not being present on the asteroid resources they are calling for. It is being looked into.

5) Filtering items! ... omg I wish I could filter out non-RE-able items on venders and bazaar!

Take this to the merchant forum please =)

If you are referring to the Proton Carbine, to bad it is only MBH and us carbineers do not get much.

How about at least an E11 carbine that rivals the Proton Carbine so we can compete.

This is actually a CU issue. Many vendors have not had their items removed and re-uploaded for sale. This means they have pre-CU stats and those stats are disabled. Searching through the bazaar and global vendor search you can find many vendors that have redone their sales but still alot that havent unfortunately.

It seems to me SWG hit the perfect balance (after this pass) with the space loot model. It's immediately useful to players, and sometimes very good, but players crafters can make it better and sometimes get a bonus (ie Firespray schematics) out of the deal.

TH, why not apply this model to all quest rewards? Make it so reward weapons, armor pieces, or ship deeds can be "revese engineered" into one-time schematics. That way:
  1. It's good quality when the player receives it (player's happy, no schematic to shop around.)

  2. An appropriate crafter can convert it into a single-use schematic and, with sufficient resource quality and experimentation, re-craft it even better (player's even happier, crafter is happy.)

  3. There's a chance based on the crafter's level of getting extra uses from the schematic (crafter's even happier.)
Everyone wins. Quest loot is desirable and instantly gratifying, but crafters are kept in the loop. Why not adopt this?

Thank God! yeah for all you crafting lovers get over it, game needs to cater different playstyles. Ive always hated relying on other players. Solo needs <3 too

So you ARE going to dump the player based economy model.

You had managed to keep the rewards to quests in balanced with the player economy, but now you have given up on this eh TH?

Goes to show on how deep in trouble this game is.

I don't know, looks like Th said that it isn't going to be all crafted or all looted, but a balance between the two just like you mentioned "balanced with the player economy"
