So, I have same problem - where from this convoy starting to go to hiper to Kashyyykian sector?

The Y-8 Mission is currently.. and has been for many many moons.. bugged. You never get a waypoint because the mission doesn't startup and spawn the necessary NPC-related targets when you enter the system.
No way to complete the Y-8 quest, it's been this way for a LOOOONG time. Yes the devs know about it, no they aren't going to fix it.

Well they are working on it as well as the Y-8 itself. Word is they are improving the ship.

I have done the Patrol part & killed the pirates, I have recieved & loaded the cargo hold and the mining laser to my ARC170 (mining laser in weapon slot 3). Once in space I have added the mining laser to weapons group 3, all by itself. All other weapos are in group 1. I hit the 1 key my weapons fire, but if I hit the 3 key nothing fires.
I have landed & removed all weapons but the mining laser, added it to group 1, & relaunched. Now nothing fires. I targeted a minable astroid, just in case it needed a target, and no joy. Can someone please explain what I am doing wrong?

Isn't weapon slot 3 a turret? (ARC only has 1 pilot gun and 2 turrets I thought)
Not managed an ARC so not sure.
You said you put it in "group 1" did you put it in weapon slot 1 as well (might be called weapon 0, not sure)?

Yeah, when I landed & disarmed I put the mining laser in weapons slot 3 group 1, since that fired with regular weapons. So the mining laser was in both weapon 1 group 1, weapon 3 group 1, weapon 1 group 3, and weapon 3 group 3.

when you install your weapons onto your ship, check the visual picture of the ship in the component selection screen. Make sure that the mining laser is installed inthe weapon slot that the pilot can control (easily seeable on the visual feedback), and put the tractor beam in a weapon slot not controllable by you (a turret).
With the 'Toggle Tractor Beam' option in the keymap window, you can still fire the TB, even if it's in a turret.

Tractor beams in turrets not controlled by the pilot have a very low success rate. If you can't put it in a slot the pilot controls you should think about changing ships.
