My main issue is that they will not let us build the new spaceships. The new ships are being given out as deeds at the end of quests. With Beserker rifles or AV-21s, they gave out integral parts but still needed crafters. The way the game is headed crafters will not be needed. You run through the quest that Darth Platypus laid ouit and you have everything you need to do space mining.
From an SW point of view, the cool part of the expanion are the ships. But we are cut out of that. There is no content on the expansion for a shipwright. What content there was, the schamtics, were in my datapad before the expansion.
The screwed the Entertainers. Squad Leaders. Doctors. Image Designers. Armorsmiths. Now Shipwrights. It is clear that everything being developed is soly for the combat classes, and to me there is no reason to continue in a non combat role.
So I cancelled my Shipwright
And lets just have a look at how bad crafters hurt...
KSE firespray, the -lowest- price i saw the other day was 6.5 million (highest was around 10 mil)
AV-21 i think is what in the neighborhood of 2 million?
Mandalorian armor? I dont even want to know....
These ships are not the biggest and the baddest in the game, thier just fun, trophy ships really. If you balance them right they can be good but that requires a good shipwright and sinking several million in RE'd componants into said ships.. So think more about what your complaining about.

Heh what your upset we can actually get something through a quest instead of having to pay out in blood millions of credits for something only a crafter can make.. The AV-21, Mandalorian Armor, KSE Firespray all that stuff, crafters murder you on the price. Its nice to get things free every once in a while lay off a little bit eh? Thier 1 time quests its not going to destroy the economy besides I dont know about the ARC 170 but the Jedi Starfighter only has 90k mass, thats not alot for me, itsnice for a light attack fighter but not my main fighter.

You say this an aweful lot, and I have yet to see you spell "either" correctly.
LOL, I didn't catch that. Heh
For years now I have seen the combat class accuse crafters of being greedy all the while gouging for a few hours work looting an item. To that reply they quickly respond to the time they spend buying armor, weapons, getting buffs, buying insurance etc etc etc. My question is, why are your expenses acceptable overhead markup and ours are not? An AV21 powerplant can be obtained by a jedi in almost no time yet that costs 1.25mil. Why? because we have to pay for the time he spent because he wanted to be a jedi? A DE-10 pistol used to sell for 2-3 million, the barrel and schematic cost ME somewhere between 1-1.5mil plus thers no point in making it without buying 3 identical krayt tissues going into it, thats another 500k -1mil. In that system a bad slice made me have to acutally delete it because there was no way I could have even recovered the 2mil I had in components before even spending any of my ultra rare resources that sell in and of themselves 300cr/unit.
I understand your frustration with price, believe me I do. But your anger is misplaced. Its the component and resource suppliers you need to be angry with, not the product maker. When components cost 90% of the final price and the components took little work then theres a problem. You talk of gouging on chassis... how much work went into the greivous fighter? A Jedi in my guild got 8 of them in one day going for the cybernetic arm. He gave some to guildmates and sold the rest on his vendor for 1mil each. Guess what? All 5 of them sold within 30 minutes.Thats 5 mil for a days worth of work and it was PURE PROFIT. You show me one single crafting profession that makes even 1 mil a day NET not gross.
Is 5 credits per unit gouging? You tell me....
steel on average costs 5-10 credits per unit even the week after its harvested. This isnt exceptional steel, its just good quality with some 900's in the stats. All steel has higher ut/sr .. its the nature of steel.
Ok so what, I harvest my own steel so my cost is really 1cr/unit or cheaper. SO? SO?! whats your point?! If the fair market value is 10cr/unit why should I sell you a part at 5cr/unit which is a product of a 10cr/unit resource? Thats just bad business. Wouldnt I be more profitable just selling the resource and saying screw your speederbike, you can walk.. selling resources is a higher profit margin.
If you want cheaper gasoline the first place you need to focus on is the per barrel cost of sweet crude oil. You dont go screaming at the gas station for ripping you off because he is probably still only charging a markup of 3 cents a gallon. Make the cost of oil cheaper and you will pay less at the pump. Mark my words on it.
Do some crafters gouge? Possibly, but its a much lower percentage that you know. Those that do are only able to do it because they have alts that get the stuff for them making their component/resouce cost significantly less. I still maintain if you insist on cheaper resources and component costs, you will see a turnaround in the cost of the final product.

Since a tier 4 ship requires 80k units of resources, that means your getting charged 1.25 cpu. Depending on what server your on, this doesn't seem to shabby to me.
Dude, seriously. I'm sorry but I gotta give you the Worst Math Ever award.
80,000 x 1.25 = 100,000. Not 1.25 million
1,250,000/80,000 = 15.625 cpu.
Hey, it was in the mornin, before I had any coffee.
Anyways, surethat guys prices was a kind of high. So, go find a compediter that sells it for less. Not all players are price gougers.

To everyone else, I know this has been a long time coming. However, when I compiled the list of issues a few weeks ago, the number one issue seemed to be that loot was better than components crafted in many cases without requiring any reverse engineering to make it so. We saw this the most with capacitor recharge rate, and engine YPR. I went through post after post after post talking about this issue. So I presented this in the list you see at the top in the state of the shipwright profession.
Now they are changing it to make player crafted engines and capacitors BETTER than loot. That listening to the players in my book.

Players actually defending thier right to get some ofthe best itemsin the gamefor free.
You guys actually act like getting credits in this game is actually HARD in this game.
Casual players my arse. I am a casual player, can log in and play on weekends and late at night after work. And I have NO problems getting credits in plenty from iether space OR ground.
If anyone has a problem getting at least 500k credits a day, then they dont know how to play the game.
End of story.
I have a lot of friends who can only put together 2 or 3 hours a week to play this game due to kids and or work. So, I know they will not be able to make the kind of money it takes for me to supply them with full priced ships without a lot of saving. Still, it will be a long time before they are to Tier 4 where they can get a nice ship for free. I think it will be atleast 4 or 5 months of buying chassis slowly from me or a grind resource crafted one from others before they can get to the quest chassis. Not to mention all the tiers of weapons, armor, reactors, and etc that they will need. Now once these players reach a master combat profession and learn all about all there is to know in the loot game, they might be able to make the kind of credits that are not so hard to make. Not any time soon though.

Look, giving players some of the best items for free is simply insane. If you look at my signature you'll see a very nice proposal at that web site to have a permanent Blue Frog Server just for people who don't like grinding and for people who only have 2 or 3 hours a week. WoW and other MMORPGs have different kinds of PvP/PvE servers so it only makes sense for SWG to compete.
However there is a HUGE difference between having an entire server where stuff is free and having a normal server where there is an established economy and then introducing uber items for free. I've had a Master Shipwright since the first week and my chassis sales have slowed to a creeping halt. Most players aren't even launching into space. They either use thier Yacht or use the starter ship that comes with a hyperdrive and is...wait for it...FREE.
Betwen this and the fact that fully crafted ship components are literally falling from the skys (space) Shipwright is dooooooooomed.
SOLUTION:
Have looted items be components that go INTO crafted items. The whole RE thing is very nice. Every component in every one of my ships is RE'd but it is ruining this profession. I'm in a pretty big guild and I have access to the best resources that have ever spawned on my server and I still can't touch my RE'd stuff.
OR
Make looted and RE'd components < crafted items...
Ok. That explains why it feels like it came out of nowhere suddenly. Thank you for getting this up and out to us then.
