SWG and JTL are games folks. And games are supposed to be fun. The current space loot system is a fun one for the players (although if it gets nerfed down anymore it wont be) and for many its the single thing that makes flying in space worthwhile. Theres absolutely zero reason that the shipwright profession needs to mimic the other existing crafter profs. *yawn* I understand why SW prices are high and I dont complain about it. Shipwrights will ALWAYS have a role to play and they will ALWAYS be needed and vital. Space loot should not be nerfed anymore, it would be a sad mistake i think. IMHO.

I have killerd thousands upon thousands of space hostiles and still have never gotten a reactor or engine that beats a player made one. Its just luck of the draw. These uber items are no where near as common as some folks might like you to believe they are.

I'm all for having SW's have to "enable" space looted items before they could be used.

Yes, you are right. However, you have to understand that a game cannot be fun without balance. The devs have done some pretty stupid things in the last year that run smack in the face of this simple concept. Jedi have contributed greatly to decreasing the "fun factor" of the ground game. Space loot and upgradeable starter shipsis nothing but a detriment to crafters and the player economy (I say "crafters" because this sets a terrible precedent that I hope not to see repeated).

Yes I can afford it. Nice of you to bring up loot, lets talk about look shall we? I noticed as have many other players that loot drops have dropped drastically thanks to posts like this one. Care to comment on that coincidence or am I imagining it because I as well as everyone else who brought it up are all blithering idiots?

Before these dirty "lowballers" that 250k would barley buy a tier 2 ship not to mention parts. As a matter of fact I bought a tier 2 light fighter from a guild member’s vendor for 50k and paint and texture kits for 1k each. Now here is the kicker that is his retail price not a guild member price. Anyone can go to his vendor and get those prices. Now according to to many SW's he is a dirty "lowballer" (and hurting legitimate SW's) because a tier 2 ship @ 50k is around 1ish CPU, but mysteriously he still makes a profit. Now please do tell this (us) blithering idiot(s) how, using your incomprehensible wisdom and intelligence of course, exactly how that is possible? Some one is lying here. How about a comment on that little tasty morstile of a fact? That is the magic word here profit not get rich. Fair and honest business is to recoup your costs and make a profit not shaft players as much as you can because you’re the only game in town so you can make as much money as possible. Comments…….pretty pretty please……..

Your are of course correct. SWG would be dead without crafters because the Devs made a very very bad decision not to put NPC crafters/vendors in the game. This would do two positive things, for everyone not just crafters. (I do so hope my blithering idiot logic here makes sense to someone who is as "enlightened" as you are, well try to follow anyway..) 1) It would force combat professions to sell the resources they collect at reasonable prices, because they would need to buy those finished product from crafters, at reasonable prices since they cannot make them and want better equipment. (BTW don’t blame high prices on combat professions, blame the devs for making the resources so hard to come by, I m talking about mining not harvesting and to my knowledge ALL players have lots not just combat professions but again I am a blithering idiot....might want to check that out for your self though) 2) It would force crafters to keep their prices fair because if they did not players would just settle for equipment that is almost as good from loot drops and the NPC vendors at reasonable prices. Again let’s hear for the great all knowing oracle of intelligence on this one.............

Please don’t feel like I have just singled you SW's out, my opinion apply's across the board for all crafting professions and doctors too. Whilst everyone who is a crafter does not fit in to the "shaft the player category" most of the crafters in all crafting professions do fit in to that category......... It does not matter if it makes you upset or hurts your feelings it is just the cold hard truth.

Have an absolutely wonderful day!

First, you need to also learn that a players time is worth something. Sell ships at 1 CPU? Are you crazy? I can fetch more for the raw resources. If that is all I can fetch for my time, I'll dump SW and just sell the resources.

Second, you're right, crafters should recoup their costs. Many SWs cannot possibly harvest all the resources they need and end up buying some of them. I have never seem resources for less than 2 CPU, and those are for grinding quality resources.

Finally, you need to learn something about the laws of supply and demand. These laws are very applicable to ships and ship components because SWs can't make a lot of what pilots need in factories. Because SWs have to hand craft everything, the supply stays low, while demand goes up. Double whammy! Prices will go up.

I did notice you decided not to comment on the loot, any particular reason?

I know I have it good because I have a guild mate who is not out to screw players, the sad thing is I am considered lucky when it should be the norm.(when he picked up SW’s he was laughing about the absurd prices they were charging) No, only after other players decided to become SW's, or after you started seeing some competition for fair prices would be the correct statement, and no if you were not making any revenue you would cry nerf see my loot example, it has worked before……

You were FORCED to cut your prices or go out of business. Ultimately prices are what they are in the game because we have no choices, Well we do actually, we always opt to not buy anything.......... the ship loot is a perfect example of this.

Nerfing the loot was the worst option to fix this but it is what SW's cried for, have you seen any posts from SW's asking to make equipment that is marginally better than what can be looted? No you don’t, you just see nerf posts

The grand daddy of all MMORPG's UO had NPC vendors as well as PC vendors and the economy did not crash it worked quite well, actually and still does to this day. The devs of that game actually took some time and coded some intelligence in to the economy not just hand the whole thing it over to a part of the player population and let them do as they wish with it……….

This is all fine and well, but SOE made a different game that did not include NPC crafters. To do so now would destroy the game, and thus, this is a moot issue.

The SW's so concerned about having to compete with space loot just fail to see the big picture. Well you can't really until you take up the Pilot prof past Tier 2.

So whats the big picture? Having a master shipwright, and having mastered pilot 3 times now and having 40 million prestige and 7.5 million starship combat on my main character, I dont see it.

Hrm...is 4444 and doing the Master missions 'past Tier 2' enough for you?

Since Tier 3 and getting my X-Wing, the only component I've truly upgraded is the weapons. And the only components I've bothered to replace are the armor plates. Oh and to give you some idea of the wear and tear my X-Wing has gone through (and the components I haven't replaced/upgraded).

The chassis HP is down to 346

HEck the devs are soon giving pilots a free tier 2 ship and make it upgradable. the easy change is simple lower the amount of steel and stuff need for ship compents and hopefully Sw will lower their price. becouse there will be that one Sw that does

If you are paying that much for level 7 blasters, then your being ripped off, plain and simple. I charge 25k for mine, and they are as good as any that I have seen, see sig for details.

On subject, rev eng weapons are the best in the game, so as such, they should be rare drop and difficult to create. After all, it is the only way I can get a 26.5k level 8 blaster on my A wing.

This is just plain ridiculous on any server; this is more than ten times what I charge for the same item.

Well the comparison to armour and weapons is a little skewed.

The best "uber" weapons I have ever used were given free to me by guild mates and friends. So now should it bethat all items have to be boughtand nothing can be traded as it might hurt the profits of an armoursmith or weaponsmith?

This argument is like the car insurance,"Put a policy in place that forces people to buy my service", its a a scam.

I am a BH and I demand a system be put in place that makes my bounties have to pay out, whether I killmy markor not.

I agree it may need some tweaking, but I dont see the emergency of it all, and I dont want to see a system that forces me to buy everything.

100% of my ships are crafted asI have not found anything better than what I bought.

Hayabusa,

That uber weapon or armour given to you by your buddies still had to be crafted by someone first. That's the difference.

This is the very core of my argument. Krayt-ed DE-10's just don't fall out of the sky.

No other crafting professions have to compete with a free source of products like Shipwright does. Full suits of composite don't drop from quenkers on a regular basis.

Ace pilot since .... it's in my sig.

I did MSW well after I'd mastered Pilot, so I too fail to see what you're referring to.

The only crafted components I'm using atm are my armor (some, I have some RE'd armor that far surpasses what can be crafted), and my launchers.

All else I use isRE'd goodies that I could never touch with the best 20cpu resources.

I have one character that's Imp Ace and one that's Master Pilot/Master Shipwright. I have every ship there is and the only place I use crafted components is in my Decimator and YT. Mainly because crafted items can't touch REd ones. Not even with the best resources, food, and crafting tools.
