The thing that it's the POI right next to the space station (about 2k from it). I've tried all 4 POIs with the same results. I'm at work right now so I can't test anything. I'll check when I get home. I've met with someone ig who had the same problem as I. It's frustrating. And it'll probably turn out to be something really simple I just didn't se...

I just tested that the iron astroids do work, but the others do not

I've tried the iron asteroids and they don't work for me . This is starting to p*** me off... It's simple, equip mining laser, shoot asteroid at POI, then shoot smaller fragments still there's nothing... Yet I've been shooting for 2mins non stop with my mining laser and nothing on all 4 silicaceous POIs and nothing on the Iron POI. I don't get it. I'm writing a ticket.

I was having this problem too, and I followed up a little bit on the pilot forums as well. Apparently this has to do with the recent patch to limit the amount space junk floating around and clobbering zone latency. Apparently the big asteroids only have a limited number of mediums that will tumble out, and after that number is shot out of them, they're spent.

Unfortunately, that means that the Mining quest asteroids (all of the Silicaceous in Corellia for example) are completely empty. Someone suggested blowing them up and then they'd respawn, but I've been shooting at one of these things for 10 minutes now (class 2 crafted mining laser) and no blow-uppage. Any suggestions?

I destroyed the big ones with a mark 1 mining laser. It took alot of time though. (The condition went down something like 2pts every shot lol :smileyvery-happy Use /examine on the asteroid to see it's condition, you'll see where your at. And maybe try to find one that's already low on condition to save a bit of time. But it works, that I can say.

Excellent guide. Can anyone suggest stuff for operating a Y8 well? I went into space with a friend of mine, mounting the mark II laser in slot 0, mark I in slot 1, and the tractor beam in slot 2. For some reason we could knock off chunks for a while, but couldn't break up the smaller ones, then neither of us could hit the asteroid - we assumed it was because he didn't have RotW yet. With /examine the asteroid didn't even drop in health after a while, no matter how long we attacked it with the mining lasers.

I could only find the top turret, and the bottom turret, but I still have no idea where to control the 3rd slot from - none of the stations nor the pilot chair allowed for that.

But what I am curious about, is when it all works - what is the best strategy for these ships? Its hard to follow the small elements that blast off, the 2nd turret faces in the opposite direction forcing you to pull aside anything you mine - has anyone figured out a good way to do this?

Apprently the sell locations aren't always listed as "Station". After checking 5 systems and finding nothing but normal stations and faction stations I found a POI (not Station!) in Lok that'd buy. Here's the info:

System: Lok
Waypoint: POI: TRADE FEDERATION OUTPOST

Buy prices
Acidic: 10
Carbonaceous: 4
Crystal: 17
Cyanmethanic: 8
Diamond: 20
Icy: 6
Iron: 2
Methane: 10
Obsidian: 10
Organometallic: 8
Petrochemical: 10
Silicaceous: 3
Sulfuric: 8

Red-Dwarf,

Thanks so much for posting a guide...I don't spend much time in space cause I'm busy crafting and working on FS...but this is the best info anyone could ask for....Thanks a Million. Aristianna Tiblier <ReBorN>Carbineer/Doc and a litttle Shipwright. Chilastra Server
