quick question i read some where that you can buy the resources from the mining outposts too, is this true???
No.
They buy, they don't sell.
Perhaps the DEV's should consider changing it so they do. Pool the resources sold to them and sell them to players at a markup.
Not something else to put crafters etc out of work (the CU and RotW have been bad enough, by not giving cybernetics creation to DEs and installtion to docs, and all those free ships that aren't made by SWs).
People will want to mine to sell to crafters. If the mining stations resold, that would take that whole system off the vendors and bazaar. A bit as if all those starship chassis NPCs also sold looted ship components.
Who would be buying the asteriod resources from the outpost except crafters?
But perhaps the better thing would be to replace the menu that comes up when you "/comm" the outpost with a the interface pane from the Bazaar terminals so people can put the resources up for sale on the Bazaar without landing.

Sorry, I misspoke. I was thinking of space miners who want to sell to crafters at higher prices. Being able to buy from stations would undercut them.
But your idea about accessing the bazaar from the station is brilliant. Far too good for the devs to ever consider. (I'd like to know why we can't load in new missile packs while we stopover at space stations.)

Great guide red dwarf thanks for the info.
I am having a problem with a mining mission though, the one right after he gives you the tractor beam you are supposed to fly to a disabled freigter and steal its cargo with the tractor beam. I fly to the freighter but i dont see any cargo or cargo hold on the freighter. I use my beam on it for 10 minutes from all angles and nada. Please help!
Make sure you are really really close to the freighter - within 50m should do it.

Yes. Use your navigation map in the appropriate system (see above for which system has which asteroid). The asteroids are named and are green on radar, the chunks will also appear on radar a slightly lighter shade of green.

I'm having the same problem but I'm hitting the proper asteroid forever and getting no chunks. How long are you supposed to fire on the asteroid with the reward basic mining laser?

And I do have ROTW enabled.

Exactly my problem, I'm hitting the silicaceous asteroid, (green on radar) and have it targeted. But I seem to fire forever and no smaller chunks. I'll test it tonight again after the maintenance. Maybe a bug.
If you next the edge of space, meaning one of your waypoints almost at 8000, the astroid is probably outside the boundries causing it to be invincable. just forget it and go back to the POI Astroid and blow off another piece. Mark I lasers take a quite a few shots before breaking off a medium chunk and it will take even more hits before it breaks into small chunks.
Don't worry if they go to far away, you can always get new pieces at the POI Astroid.
