My biggest issue with the Y8 is actually the lack of a loot box. I don't know if this is a bug or by design, but it's a small thing that could really make the ship more usefull.

Found the issue, put an end to it. You will be able to move things up and down in your Y-8 in Pub. 24. Sorry it took so long to get to this issue and put it to rest.

I really appreciate all the changes that you have disclosed. You indicated that these were coming in publish 24. What is the ETA on this publish?


Also, IIScander proposed a real cool idea quite some time ago. The idea proposed the notion of a player structure that would server as a ship hanger, which a player could put out their ship and let a shipwright work on it. I really love this idea, especially after reading the Han Solo trilogy and reading the description of Shug Ninx's ship shack. Are you looking at this proposal? If so, any idea on when shipwrights could look forward to it?

Ahh, the innocence, the innocence...


Any large scale changes need decent testing - not to devalue DP but it is possible (although highly unlikely) that by fixing this he could have broken something else (like say moving stuff up and down in other POB ships or even houses! or by fixing the schematics he did some other schem now has wrong components needed and will not accept the ones it needs)


TC needs time to test this and so do QA, and they can not test quick enough for a hotfix, hence hotfixes are only for things they absolutely have to have out immeadiately.


It'll be on TC soon (my guess is late this week coming, assuming the final fixes to pub 23 come quick and goes live smoothly, or it will be early the following week). You can then hook up with me or another master pilot and see the stuff in action.


I've already mined some stocks and will have some more done before this hits TC so should be able to start crafting straight away (I was going to be leveling a pilot, but ALL pilot squadrons are broke on TC right now - that's the sort of bug that we don't want to slip live because something is rushed)

ahh the arogance....the arogance.....




this isn't a major fix, it's letting a quest continue. apparently he looked into the problem and found what was wrong pretty quickly, obviously it was something that was broke intentionally so the Y-8 wouldn't get awarded to many times since it was broken.

Great work DP!
I wish things could get ironed out this well and this way more often... but I don't mean that to sound too negative... I'm so glad you could fix these Y-8 issues.

Very awesome, assuming you realize that....



a) Y-8 is the best SOE-designed ship to date. The bridge...I really love it....


b) apart from that, I'm afraid the ship has no point. Turret mining is still far, far, far more difficult that mining from one's own ship, making the Y-8's intended role very limited. I've had a Y8 deed from back when they were obtainable, and I've never generated it. If I need aseroid resources, I use my mining heavy X. Is there anything in place looking at this?

If you could fix the missing graphics on some guns it would be nice also.


I ahve a couple of RE'ed 10 guns I screwed up on before I read the thread on missing graphics. It would sort of be nice to use them one day.
