Just dropping by to confirm that ALL Y-8S, both current and newly
acquired, are affected by the changes. You'll be able to move
items up and down in the old ones, and they'll have the new turret
spots.

Has anyone confirmed or deniedm that theres a LOOTBOX on the Y-8 now, as well.
Or is there a reason, that there isn't?

Darth you might need to look at the internal side of the Y-8 or get gorath to SWG-Goliath to take another look inside the ship, there seems to be a few gfx glitches with the Y-8 on test center currently. one the windshield/windows (front view) are no longer transparent, instead the windows are all green-to yellow to red. In addition the lower corridor has a few spots where when you walk along you can suddenly see space.

I've not bugged this in the TC treads

The Y-8 needs it's item limit increased, too. Being able to use /move up and /move down will be nice, but most people are still going to get really frustrated when they run out of item space, and only have half the ship decorated. There's no reason it should have the same limit as the other POB ships, when its so much bigger inside.

I like the firing arc, you can actually shoot through the pilot of the ship

As for the other questions I've seen in this thread:


When will it go live? It will hopefully go live when it is ready and not before. Can't say when but since half the publish is still not on TC it may bea while, with beta happening it is possible (and no official word on this) that it may come out with the expansion.


As for the loot box - It does NOT have one. Given the power of the ship in PvE I personally am happy with this as it could become a king ship for PvE and it isn't supposed to be that.


As for can we mine in it? It is faster than before, but we need more testing on this, when we had it on TC before we were getting close but not quite up to the rate of a single fighter with a full squad of 5 players. So 20% the speed of 5 separate fighers.


How to improve that? The idea on increasing the range and radius of the tractor beam would help, but would also need a MUCH stronger beam to overcome the inertia of the asteroid chunk. I'd be happy for this to be an "Elite Tractor" for the Y-8 only.


Another option might be to boost the amount mined JUST for the elite mining laser.


but as I say - we need more testing to see just how much quicker/slower the Y-8 is so that we can balance it.


Oh, and the idea of toggling on tractor beam can be thrown out - tractor beams 'auto' controlled do not work, or at least work very very rarely.


As for the item limit - would be nice to boost it up, but it is possible to decorate it fairly well, not good enough for me to impress GarVa though

The fixes to the schematics are flawless, but there is still one issue with crafting with asteroid resources.

There is 4 resources that have a OQ of 500, while the cap is 1000. Since there is no way to get, let's say, and Iron Asteroid with 1000 OQ, any schematic using this resource (or Petrochemical, Methane, Diamond or Iron) is still borked and cannot be experimented up to 100% even with perfect resources (well, the asteroid is what we cannot get "perfect").

The easy solution is to raise the OQ on this resources to 1000.

Oh, and while we are at it, can we get a fix for the Droid Brain Upgrades? All Marks have the same Droid Speed range, so there's no point in using a Mark V Droid Brain Upgrade when you get the same increase with a Mark I, with less drawbacks and less resources.

Could you PLEASE look into the possibility of allowing us to use all of our POB ships? Think about it.. the yacht is a unique ship that begs to be decorated and used for special occasions. The multi-passenger master pilot ships (like the YT-1300 or the new YT-2400) also beg for decor. But if you do, you can't launch in the ultimate mining ship!!!


Ideas:



  • Increase the number of decorated ships to 3. This seems like the easiest solution, but then again, as a developer I know that looks can be deceiving.

  • Change ship item counts to be total, and allow us to spread them out over any number of POB ships. Have the code that checks to see if it's full take that into account so we can launch as many ships as we want but won't use up any more database space. This seems like the best overall solution, but would also require some work at the business rule level for tracking item usage. Again, not too dramatic, I wouldn't hope.

  • Keep the current limit of 2 decorated ships, but allow other ships to launch with "full" item counts or "0" item limits.Would need to be sure the loot box doesn't count against decoration limit.

  • Allow for unlimited decorated ships. Costly in terms of database, but offers players the most flexibility. And after all, are there really that many people that want to decorate more than a couple of ships?

And while you're reading this, could you please give us a hard number on how many items POB ships can hold, what the chances of that number being increased is, and think about adding the current item count to the /structureStatus command while on board? For that matter, a "current/total" display on ALL structures would be nice in the status command...

I like the new turret addition but I, for one, would like it if I could control at least 2 weapons as the pilot. I dont like having to have a 2nd ship for "solo mining" when my friend(s) are not online. As the y8 is now I can either mine or tractor but not both, then I cant defend myself (mining laser isnt that effective except in low tier space zones)

Tractors in turrets can still be toggled on to fire fixedforward. And Elite Mining Lasers might be enough if the new Eliteengines are good enough.
