Thread: Trapping xp problems please post your experiences
2. What was your combat level? 13
3. What was the combat level of the creature you were fighting? lvl 10 - 12 and in groups lvl 50 and 82
4. What kind of trap were you using? All types from novice scout up to trapping 2
On the lvl 10 - 12 I can get traps to land but cannot get more than 180 trapping xp per kill and that can take 4-5 mins per critter then healing
When grouped I get no traps to land at all on the lvl 50 or 82 and on the lvl 10-12 ones I get nothing
Where I'm going with this obviously is could a scout grinding trapping xp use traps crafted either by a master scout or rangers ect ect that would work on lvl 77-82 mobs?
The answer to this isNO you cannot use traps that you cannot craft. I know this from experience. I am now CL62 Master Rifleman, Novice CH, and Novice Doc. I needed to free up some skill points to train in my Elite Professions so (after respec ended for me so I got the badge) I dropped Master Scout to 4040.
I had the same idea that if I made a ton of high level traps and improved camp kits that i could still use them when I dropped the skill boxes.
WRONG!!!!
I got the message "you are not qualified to use this item"
Hope this helps.

Found a solution tonite to most trapping problems. Was suggested by our Correspondant above in this thread. Get Dweezel. Get lots of Dweezel. Dweezel is your friend.
Using +21 Dweezel, all the scout traps hit quite nicely on CL 74 critters (I'm CL 72, Master Scout, 4/4/0/4 Ranger working the trapping). Glow-Juice, Noise Maker, P-Dart all hit. When Dweezel wore off, none hit. So, if your CL has outstripped your trapping abilities, Dweezel is the thing to get. OK, maybe if you're CL 80 with no trapping at all, it won't help. But if you've kept reasonably low level, orgotten trapping as you went along,it should get the traps to work for you so you don't have to toss the broken Adhesive Meshes. I can't wait to get a level of Ranger Trapping and then start tossing traps on the CL 80s in hunt groups.
Thanx much, Vorpaks, for aiming me to this great food!
This is all wrong. Even if I use a DH-17 as a Master Carbineer I still get normal xp, assuming I use it on a high lev. creature. I dropped down from MR to MM CL 58 and I still cannot get more than 1 xp, period. I have all the boxes in Scout filled except trapping. I should not have to drop all my skills just to build a box. It makes no sense that I cannot use traps againist creatures no matter what my level is. This is all in addition to often getting "traps only work on creatures" when I have targetted a creature.
I tried the trap food and it does nothing for me.
I sent a ticket in and do not have an answer yet and its been several days. This is game breaking. This is such a bummer, all I want is to get MS and some Ranger so I can play this game. At 1 xp per creature I have to kill 1000 for the first box. 15 down and 985 to go.
This is crap.

I was MR CL 80 and I dropped MR down to CL 58 I think. I am 4/4/0/4 Scout and MM and MCH. I still cannot get xp for the trap line. Or let me say I get 1 xp and that is it.
Do I have to drop to noob lev. just to get xp? I found 1 dweesel and it was +12 and no help.
This really sucks.

Nyteshades -- I was CL 72 with 4/4/0/4 Ranger (i.e., only Master Scout trapping level). With +21 Dweezel I was able to successfully hit traps on CL 82 critters.

Aye but that puts your trapping mod at +50. Currently my alt is a lvl 17 with scout 4243. I had a friend run me off a crate of pdarts and I was able to get one to stick on a lvl 38 bol. I found a chef last night that ran me off some dweezel, so I think tonight i'm going to see what happens in a group.
Does anyone know if Dweezel stacks? It's not a HAM enhancing food.....so I'm just curious.
The issue seem to be how far up the trapping tree you are. I was Master Doc/Rifles CL80 grinding scout to get ranger back working on the first trapping box. The basic traps wont stick on anything above about level 20, so its 1xp a time for me as trap xp is working the same as rifles xp. I've thrown over 1000 traps tonight (bought all I could find on the server, wire and lecapine). Not one stuck to anything near enough to my level to give xp.
I've resorted to dropping master doc and rifles and am now down to CL52, still no luck trapping anything near my level though. Since I want to master ranger again it seem i'll have to drop all of rifleman and doc to get a low enough combat level to get more than 1 xp a trap.
If anyone from Sony reads this I think you might want to fix this ![]()
Mentet/Dymund
my experience with trapping:
1st, the inspiration: started this toon the day after 17.0 went live (way past respec) was CL 80(tk/cm), got glowy/FS, decided nightsister themepark might be fun - they hated me... so i'd try M.ranger for dath. camo kit, slowly redistribute points from CM to get it
2nd, ouch: after throwing a few crates of novice traps, pulling my hair out,i get wind of the **uglydropping levels down to get meaningfull exp - trick
3rd, discover it's same as medical/weapon not stacking within a fight: grr - no more healing people for exp AFTER battle, no wound healing, etc. for exp... -- just like medical giving you no combat exp if you do entirely medical - no combat exp for debuffing with a trap and letting someone else kill it
4th, noone wanted to be in a "get kuro some trapping exp group" (i trap/debuff - everyone else kills) -- they were all like "we need an 80 - 2/3 of people i encounter wouldn't have anything to do with it -- i finally ended up dropping a few hundred k of credits HIRING people to kill my trapped critters, and i'm still not master scout!!!
5th) trapping exp is only 1:25 for FS experience conversion!?
6th) no crafting exp for making traps? not even a general crafting? (smugglers don't get it either - apparently spice is tied into your COMBAT experience -- buahahaha lol)
** UGLY!!!a terrible workaround: CL-contributing professions can really easily do a non-/respec change of professions (new master badge - yay!) by using a high CL weapon to do comprable damage when grinding new profession, or simply heal a group of your level around your level for medical exp) -- dropping your CL / professions just for one of the component experiences in new profession?! whaT?!
