Thread: Trapping xp problems please post your experiences
Of course, to be honest, this is all a bandaid workaround for the real problem of course.
Edit - I just smacked myself for posting this. You dont have the level to use P-Darts and really want to. Sorry. Im going to go bang my head against the wall now.

Hey all--
The droid alternative still does not work. I have a droid with a 97 trapping bonus and lecapanine darts, and I'm still not getting any of them to stick. I have only Novice Scout, and am CL 80.
Evidently, if you want to level trapping and are a high-level character, you have to do it the hard way.... ![]()

Continuing thru Double-XP days, Xixdoggie found he could use those Level 3 traps (P-Dart, Noise Maker and Glow-Juice) successfully on CL 52 critters when he was CL 50.A few missions and, lo and behold, Trapping IV and Master Scout. So that worked out well.
He's now CL 72, Master Rifleman and 4/4/0/4 Ranger. Things are now getting rough. P-Dartsometimes succeedson CL 72s but not Noise Maker or Glow-Juice. While Adhesive Mesh succeeds almost always on CL 72s, it doesn't do anything (as mentioned in other threads -- this is a huge issue and should be at top of Scout List).
So, I guess trapping is definitely possible to get, as long as you're soloing your own level or grouped with similar level or lower folks. Won't work with the CL 80 combat-XP-gainers though. Maybe the Ranger traps will, but got another long haul with a non-functional trap to find out.
Edit: Ooops - he is talking abot the food Dweezle

I just got some. It gave me +19 to trapping for 15 min! With that stuff, I was able to trap at my level and get a good amount of exp. It definitely solved my problem. Now, if I could only find a vendor that had a continous stock of it.

Heya Paks, in case yer interested still:
1. What level trapping were you? Master Ranger... whatever level that is... I don't have any tapes
2. What was your combat level? CL80
3. What was the combat level of the creature you were fighting? 50's - mid 60's
4. What kind of trap were you using? P-Dart
So I am on Yavin, hunting critters camokits... (might as well make a few for the guildies) I went through a case of p-darts. After a bit I decided to track the percentage of traps that stuck, because the numbers seemed way out of whack. Out of the 102 traps I flung at critters that were well below my level, 38 stuck. That is a pathetic 37.25% success rate.
Last night I was having trouble using traps against some creatures. Kept getting an error saying that Traps only work on Creatures. Well the selected target was once a Durni, once a Paralope and once a Vynock and all the times it gave me that error and when I killed the creature I could not harvest from them either. Just another new twist to it all for those who are working their way up the ladder.

98 Unarmed XP

8 Combat XP

100 Trapping XP

Note: Managed to bank some Unarmed XP while waiting to hit the 2k needed to train in Scout. The Problem though was that I lost about 36 Scout XP when it happened because the 2k needed to train the first box of Exploration meets the current Scout XP Cap for a Novice Scout. That means a Novice Scout cannot earn more XP than 2k! The Brawler portion of my template can reach 6k before capping (enough to train the first and second box of Unarmed Combat at once.
Early Conclusions:
-
It's pretty obvious that Trap XP appears to be working like Weapon Type XP and Medical XP. If you use a trap during combat (that includes initating combat)the final XP gain will be divied up between Trapping XP and Weapon Type XPs. The unfortunate thing, though, is that it will not be included in calculating your Combat XP and will result in loss of Combat XP for using the Trap.
-
So far (and this is an emphasized "So Far") Scout XP appears to have no correlation to Resource yield. In such small numbers though it is still too early to tell. When I advance in Hunting I'll know for sure.

Tame Rills are stupid.
