Thread: Volsted's Power Fishing Guide (aka /burstfish)

If you give up your merchant skills you still get to keep the vender ![]()
Has anybody tried fishing in high veg/high fish density spots on purpose? Seems to me that finding a 5/5 is a lot harder to find than a 5/0, and since the veg presents a challenge, well maybe there is something special there ![]()
I found a spot that is 5 density and 4 vegetation and I found a pattern to catch *every* time. Let me know if this works for you guys. (I am master ranger though so might work is you are less than master or not I dunno)
Plop it in, as soon as the window comes up do a small reel in, then next screen do a tug right and you should get a nibble, then tug left (bite) then tug up (caught something). I did this in shallow walkable water and caught one after another quite quickly. I did get tangled a couple of times, but the fishing was WAY better than normal.
There is no need to bump this fine post...

Thanks for the guide!
I decided last night it was silly for someone who's played this game since release to have never fished, so I got a fishing pole and plan to give it a try soon.
I'm sure I'll be a powerfisher soon, hehe.
1) When you delve the fish, it says 2/5 (as if it is a container) has anyone seen a 3/5 or 4/5? Meaning: is this and indicator of the amount of meat (I haven't noticed much of a difference... had them fillet for 10 or 3, always 2/5 on the delve)?
2) I've seen people display large catches in their homes on the wall, but when I tried to do so it just dropped on the floor. How do I get them up on the wall (I caught one THIS BIG! {holds arms apart})
3)What's a fair going rate for the meat (decent quality of course)? As it's significantly harder to come by than most resources in the game I would assume something on the order of 10 cpu? Not sure.... :/
And again, Volsted, thanks a ton. Now I have something to do while I wait for my harvesters to churn out grinding material
/puts on waders and heads back out!
Sparky,
Sorry about that - missed your post in my run throughs.
You need to have either a medium or large style house - because the only way to do it is use the stairs.
Drop your fish on the stair at the level that you want to have the fish at. Then, using the /move forward (1-50) command, you can push the fishies around the house until they're up against the wall.
That's the only way to do it now, until they add a Z axis to movement, but that's probably not going to happen anytime soon - there are some programming issues to it if I recall correctly.
You may also want to check the architects forum for more info on this too.
Hope this helps!

Awesome guide....nice details...
Just a quick question....I read somewhere on one of these forums that you could actually gain scout xp from fishing....is that true?
Thanx for your time...
ALLGRAVE BURNING
Good fishing spots anyone? Besides the ones listed in the guide, of course.
Guys,
You gain Wilderness Survival XP for fishing - we asked for this a few months ago, and the Devs agreed.
