Thread: Volsted's Power Fishing Guide (aka /burstfish)
This is a great guide. I've had a lot of fun fishing using the techniques here. Another perfect spot to fish with density ***** and no vegetation is the North shore of Naboo next to Kadaara. Lovely beach location, nice sunsets, you can probably get Mai Tais delivered to your fishing hole.
But I have a couple questions:
I got a bunch of fish meat, but I haven't been able to sell it. Is the bazaar a good place to do this? Or do I need to make some contacts with bio-engineers? I'm on starsider in case you need fish and are reading this check the bazaar![]()
I notice the fish has a low decay resistance, which seems nicely realistic. Is it going to go bad in my inventory? Or in the bazaar if no one buys it soon?
"Is it going to go bad in my inventory? Or in the bazaar if no one buys it soon?"
No.
The Decay Resistance is simply another attribute used in crafting, and will not cause your item to deteroriate. ![]()

How does one fillet the fish?
Click on the fish to bring up the menu. "Filet Fish" will be the 3rd option, after (1) Examine and (2) Destroy. Sometimes it takes a bit for the "Filet Fish" option to come up.
When you cast, that information is in the fishing window, as stars.
Volsted, awesome guide. Thanks a ton. Now I can provide some fish for some guildies. I'll be a big hit. =)
Just a bit of Visual Basic thought. I tend to think this way... since I take a Computer Science class. Those who know VB should understand this concept.
"How to catch a fish. A more simple explanation."
If /fish = true then
If "Waiting..." = True then
tug1 = true
ElseIf "Nibble..." = True then
tug1 = true
ElseIf "Bite?!" = True Then
tug1 = true
ElseIf "caught something?" then
"small reel in" = true
End If
End If
This will catch you a fish if followed. Tug1, Tug2, Tug3 are just "Tug up", "Tug left", "Tug right". Keep them the same when you fish at a spot.
If /fish = true then
If "Waiting..." = True then
tug1 = true
ElseIf "Nibble..." = True then
tug1 = true
ElseIf "Waiting..." = True then
tug1 = true
End If
End If
This is what it should usually look like if you go fishing and a fish nibbles then gets away. It can Wait more than once if the density of fish is too low. If it then gets a nibble, start over with the first way to catch a fish.
Thanks for the great guide! I've been fishing for a while now, and had never caught an item until tonight. Snagged a 'Crystal' and stared at it in much confuzzlement before wandering over here to see if catching items was something new. Apparently it is not, but it's the first time I've been stubborn about fishing in vegetation. (Trying to get stats on Endor fish for swgcraft, and ended up in a 4-star fishing hole with a 5-star vegetation.)
Oh well, at least it will look pretty in my house. ![]()

That's agoodalgorithm to describe fishing in SWG, Dyrwen. However, I doubt SOE would look kindly on using a VB programthat takes advantage of said algorithm while playing SWG, since it would be against EULA.
