Sio,

No, I do not know all of the bugs associated with pets. I've only been to the CH forums once with a question. The only experience I have is with my Murra (used to be a Kahmurra ), lesser Dewback mount and Probot. I have the usual issues of warping occasionally, not following, not attacking sometimes, getting stuck on rocks and the such (Murras are INCREDIBLY slow on mountain sides). I work around them. I go slow and watch where I'm going. I've had my speeder auto-store in the middle of no-where and warp me hundreds of meters in any given direction. I avoid buildings now and inside of cities. This has worked for me and people I have spoken to in-game. Frustrating: yes. Game-breaking:no.

I totally agree with you on the issue of camps needing a re-vamp. They are sorely lacking in usefulness presently (as far as game mechanics are concerned and not RP) and now they are even more useless. That is one of the reasons I don't agree with this change; however, I do know I'm in the minority with this opinion judging by the posts I've read.

OberSenf,

Believe me, when the critter holding aggro for you with a kimogila suddenly decides to go back to the datapad, it's a serious issue, especially now that death stings no matter what you do. This is the game's flaws griefing the players. Some people have left the game over problems like this, and it just becomes another item on the list of why should I continue to bother for many others. It's not fun. We're here to have fun. Being forced to throw up a camp because the game is buggy is not fun.

Are you suggesting that the only thing that made scouts and rangers viable is that you need one around tocall your vehicle in the wild???

Nope, not stating that at all.

OberSenfwrote:

With the introduction of vehicles and, to a much lesser degree mounts, the wilderness professions are loosing their viability.Wayfaring is already next to useless (and soon to become useless whenCamo doesn't work against NPC's) in the Ranger line and Frontiering/Survival is next on the list. The aggro repeling in camps is broke and even when it works the benefits are negligible. The healing modifiers are also neglible when everyone has a droid with a much better modifier. Our only usefulness to the community now is Tracking/Hunting and Exploration. Trapping is arguably good for crowd control on lesser creatures.

I believe my earlier post agrees with yours. I just see us slowly loosing our viability outside of the afore-mentioned lines.

Am I gonna drop my TKA/Ranger? Perish the thought! Holocrons be damned. I hunt. It's what I enjoy doing and people I know (and new customers) have ordered hides and meat from me since, oh,not too long after launch. I get tells frequently asking where the best current hides and meats are located on Corbantis from those I know. Being a Scout/Ranger is so much a part of my character people would not recognize me without it.

well we do still have a slight advantage. with improved camps we can repel aggro creatures, there by making our camps temporary safe havens in the middle of the wilderness (all two inches of it between the new Player outposts.). But lately it's been getting harder and harder to harvest a sufficient quantity of meat. But then again. i bet it's because i can't play quite as often anymore.

That does sound like a lot of fun actually.

I used to play an MMO a few years back as a Ranger. Once a year, one of the Player Guides(like an in-gamecorrespondent) used to host a picnic and fun day.

I'm thinking we should do something like that here. Could be interesting.

This is a severe minority. The skill that most players in the game have as scouting to get camps and to get slope modifiers. What you see in the game world is everyone spending 15 points on the novice skill and a handful of points on basic camps and slope modifiers, so NO ONE needs a scout (when I say scout, I mean the people who actually want to play scouts and not just have a convenient skill).

By removing the ability, people wont just take the basic skill to take out vehicles and pets and they will opt to keep their 15+ skill points. That makes scouts people who are valuable in the wilderness because you can be healed way out in the boonies without having to come back to a city.

The next step is gather the information from Delta and NRaas on how to make camps better and move on that - - thats the move thats going top count for more in the long run.

This move makes scoutsmore valuable and more unique, not less.

Kind of like everyone taking novice medic just to be able to heal themselves? Like another poster said, how soon until everyone gets to use stim As?

How will scouts be valuable for healing in the wilderness when A) the "wilderness" is often within walking distance to a city; B) if by chance a town isn't nearby just pull out your speeder and you're there in no time; and C) why go anywhere, just pull out your medical droid.

So now with the change, the only value camps will have will be to grind xp to be able to use more expensive but still relatively uselesscamps. Perhaps the only advantage for true scouts out of this is that without the need for novic scout to pull pets/vehicles many players may drop novice scout and thus limiting the number of suppliers for the most sought after organics.

Well, the basic planets would probably be safest, espcially for new and non scouts.

We could go with one of the Wilder planets, maybe on Dant or Endor for example, but I think exposing a bunch of n00bs to the wilds of Dathomir can't be good for the ecology. I think the only ones having the picnic then would be the Rancors. The cost to get there could be prohibitive for some folks also, I'm sure.

Not that I have thetime in anyway to organize such an event on my own.

A group of us could prolly pull it off though. I wonder how much "official" support Brisc could get us?

We wouldn't need much, just some tweaks to things like leavng the camps up for the entire event, and a stage for the entertainment. We could get some Chefs on board and have them do the cookin and beer brewin, Musicians and Dancers to make it a party.

Hmmm summertime blockparty w00t!

We could have "Nekkid Ranger Races". Y'know, Unequip all your gear, then have a foot race to various waypoints, collecting items along the way. First one to the finish with all the items, and no deaths, wins!

And I'm sure someone else can think of other stuffs to do also.

1-Increase camphealing rate, based on camp level the higher the camp the higher the healing ability.- this would make people want to camp.

3-let entertainers hell BF in camps.

4-allow pets to auto heal in camps like PC's.

These alone would make camping worth it!

Okay, so I groused.

Now I'm trying to be constructive.

I don't think the scout point of view is that you SHOULDN'T be able to call your pets and vehicles everywhere you want to.

Frankly, most of them agree that the rule is annoying and don't really love the idea of being camp whores either.

The problem is that they don't appreciate having a 'profession defining' ability completely gutted in one respect (and let's face it, for good or ill, this is an effect of the change) WITHOUT having any new functionality introduced.

And, no, milking herbivores doesn't cut it.

If camps were your cash cow I would not worry about it. I Am a master chef and I will be needing alot of milk provided only by scouts and rangers. I am willing to pay nice for this and if anyone on tarquinas wants to be my ranger/scout for supplies I will be more then happy to keep him fully employed getting me resources.

Send me a in game email if your intrested
