Thread: Maskscent 100% Success
i wish i didnt already know that - at least i would have had some hope - hoppers been empty for many hours now. still wont boot.
what level are your weapon skills when you started this? I currently am a Bothan with all lvl2 scout skills and lvl2 rifle and pistol. When I get a probot am I going to have a chance on Lok or Dantooine?
Just wondering thanks for the great info
Oh goodie, another probot exploit. There is the guy who will force them to nerf trapping with his probot exploit, now you are forcing them to further nerf maskscent with your probot exploit. Nice going.
Why don't you people just play the game. Why do you have to exploit repeatedly and force these changes. This is a rhetorical question. You do not need to answer. Sigh.

And why is this an exploit?
Was it the intention of the devs that you usea pet (not tied to you in any way so you cannot get aggro) to drag stuff near you so you can /maskscent in a completely safe manner, with no intent of fighting the MOB? I seriously doubt it. Therefore, it is an exploit, and anyone who *repeatedly* uses it for the purpose of gaining Scouting xp is an exploiter.
Please read what the devs have had to say about /maskscent. It is meant to help you hunt, to hide your scent when you need to sneak past something, or when you want to confuse it while you attack. It was *NOT* meant to be a quick way to get scouting xp. Where does your method meet either of these criteria? Any other way to use this that gains *safe* and *effortless* scouting xp is an exploit. Period. Please read the what the devs say about this issue.
I don't know what is so hard to figure out here.
I mean, if you want to exploit, fine by me. Ruin your own game all you want. Rush to the end and be bored. Fine by me. Just don't pretend it is honest. That's all I ask.
A bit rediculous - ill address it a comment at a time.
"Was it the intention of the devs that you usea pet (not tied to you in any way so you cannot get aggro) to drag stuff near you so you can /maskscent in a completely safe manner, with no intent of fighting the MOB?"
A: Absoloutly - Droids are not grouped by default therefore implying the prior. There are pros and cons either way - group - get an xp bonus - dont group - remain saferAT A DISTANCE- because if you are grouped or not - and you get closer to the mob than your probot - guess what.....you are toast. Do the math genius - if theres a guy punching you in your face hard, are you going to go after his friend who is doing nothing 20 feet away?
Elru wins.
"I seriously doubt it. Therefore, it is an exploit, and anyone who *repeatedly* uses it for the purpose of gaining Scouting xp is an exploiter."
A: I repeatedly shoot durnis for combat XP *repeatedly.* By your weak line of rhetoric - "it is an exploit." How about no. Seriously doubt it? Speculation - stricken from the record.
Elru wins.
"Please read what the devs have had to say about /maskscent. It is meant to help you hunt, to hide your scent when you need to sneak past something, or when you want to confuse it while you attack."
A: Need i even respond. Thanks for contradicting your argument with a dev comment. That was easy.
Elru wins.

A: I shoot durnis effortlessly and i gain combat xp. If you have a good weapon - a large portion of mobs are safe and effortless - is that an exploit?
Elru wins.
"I don't know what is so hard to figure out here."
A: Me neither
Point conceded.
"I mean, if you want to exploit, fine by me. Ruin your own game all you want. Rush to the end and be bored. Fine by me. Just don't pretend it is honest. That's all I ask."
A: Thanks for your permission - however unnecessary - i appreciate it. Ruin it for who - SWG is easily the most engrossong experience ive had with electronic entertainment. Kudos staff. Im lovin it. Pretend who? What is this person babbling about. You sound bitter. Go lock yourself away - and just cry it all out. Feel free to do things however you see fit. Im sure we will all end up right where we are supposed to be.
You seem to have the pulse of the Devs - care to give an update on the status of badges?
Love
Elru.
On lok - i do red cons with challenge lvl of about 30-50. Kusaks are my prime target.
On dantooine about the same (maybe slightly less challenge lvl). Huurton class animals are usually my target.
On dathomir - i tred much lighter. With the strange bas nitch as my primary quick gain target.
Other various npcs are targeted - but this is a trial and error process - you learn as you go. The afforementioned were some of my favs. Certain animals i know not to solo. Ex. grauls - dragonets - voritor trackers - leave them alone. There are different reasons for not attacking. Grauls for example have very strong attacks - and will destroy you probot before any significant damage can be done. Dragonets gank religiously - you probot will have no chance fending off 4 of them at a time. voritor trackers have extremely thick skin and are difficult to wear down before they finish the probot and turn on you.
Bear in mind any MOB with a challenge lvl of greater than 20 will murder you quickly if it gets in range. Traps are the missing link in these situations - you learn to recognize very quickly when a mob has decided to stray from the probot and lock on you.
If you are a solo type - a droid really enhances your ability to destroy high lvl mobs.
My probot gets incapped with varying frequencies pending what challenge the mob presents. For example - huurton howlers on dantooine are most of the time....lunch. However - the spawner gets upset and sometime will dump 3 or more huurtons at the same time - all aggrod towards my droid. A lot of judgement is used - if you dont think you can finish off a mobor at leastsignificantly damage it to where you can just snare trap it and finish it off - peace - live to fight nother day. Spawn a camp - start over.
On Melee characters:
The closer you are to an enemy - regardless if it is attacking your droid - has a much greater chance of targeting you and forgetting about the droid - my tactics are not really viable for brawler types. If i were to create a brawler - i would make sure that i also has CH as well. I was going to actually start a brawler tree so i could get smuggler and open locked containers - but i have decided that i dont really need that capability - so i cant speak as to how effective up close combat would fare with a probot.
How you are advancing your particular set of weapon trees has a huge impact on your ability to solo stronger mobs.
Elru Battle Notes:
Know that if you DOT a target - and decide to peace it before it dies -and have a probot active on the battle- you net 0 xp.
Rule of thumb - always keep your probot closer to the target than you.
Again I'm going to say this method doesn't work, at least not as advertised at the 100% success rate.
Now I'm not trying to be an ass to you Elru, I actually wanted this method to work simply because I would like to have a means of gaining experience that didn't involve harvesting animals. So here are the relevant information pieces to explain.
1) I'm a Zabrak Scout / Marksmen. I also have Exploration III currently, which means that my camouflage bonus is +15.
2) I've followed your method listed above to the letter at a number of encounters. These are all Naboo creatures, so admittedly they might be different than the ones on Lok, Rori, Dantooine, etc etc.
3) Success rate is still right around 30% for myself. Often times the probot will kill the mob before I get a message either way regarding if they have detected me or not.
What I honestly believe to be the case is that the extra camouflage bonuses you get by being a Master is what is making the huge difference. Since at Exploration IV you another +10 and at Master Scout you get another +15. Which means that my camo bonus is only +15, where as yours is +40. That's a large enough difference that I think that is why you're seeing the huge success rate.
its unfortunate that it seems to take master to leverage the tactic. (i dont need scout xp anymore)
well - chalk one up for the no's. at least on naboo...
If you get a bonus to going undetected when you're not moving, then this simply seems like good strategy to me. If you don't get a bonus, then this guy would probably be better off (unless he needs weapon experience) just running past aggressive mobs.
i suppose it would suffice to say that you do indeed get a bonus to maskscent while stationary - several arguments floating around can semi confirm this. 30% is better than 0%......right?
