To disable the automatic afk boot after an hour thing, you have to stoop to some pretty low levels. One is to buy a "vibrator" at your local smut shop and sit it beside your mouse on top of a CD jewelcase. Lame, and hope they don't come in to spray the apartment, but still.

ps- I have not done this.........

I've yet to use this macro ability (in fact I've never used a macro at all), I'm just defending the integrity of those who do. Macros are a part of the interface. As for avoiding your points, what points was I avoiding? The ones where you compare using exploits to using macros? I believe I responded to this with my self-righteous comment. Click on your abilities window, and you will notice a neat tab in there called Macros. I don't think you will find a section of the interface for generating free credits, which sort of defeats comparing it to money duping, don't you think? Oh, and my server is listed under my pic...

I don't know what this auto-log off thing is.. but I'll tell you that I haven't run into it at all. I don't do anything crazy, other than just camp.. and I've stayed on overnight to wake up and still be sitting in a camp... so lets just put the whole "you'll be logged off" issue to bed. If they patch.. if the server goes down.. if you lose connection.. sure.. but I dont' think it logs you off intentionally from what I've experienced.

Ok,

Not to get anyone upset, but can someone explain in simple terms how to do this?

The macro concept comes from an in-game command that SOE created called /ui (for user interface)

If you type /ui help in your chat box it will come up with a list of possibilites for how you could use this command.. one of these options is /ui action which allows you to have a slash command for an action you normally do with your mouse.

As was posted on the Dev boards last week, the best use of this /ui command to date is to use

/ui action toolbarSlotXX; where XX=the number of the slot in your current toolbar pane from 00-24 (note that toolbarSlot is case sensitive)

So if you expanded your first toolbar pane you would have 24 open slots in order to stick things in... you can put armor, weapons, skills, whatever in these toolbar slots... and its there to speed up your gameplay.

The camping macro that is being used now involves taking one of your toolbar panes (you have 6 labeled 00-05) and dumping a bunch of premade camps into the toolbar slots then writing a macro with the in-game macro editor to fire off your camps after pausing for the previous camp to automatically disband (there is currently no /disbandCamp command in game, sadly)

So here's an example of my camping macro... note that I always put a /stand; command at the beginning of every action just to make sure I'm not busy doing something else when I try to make a camp.

/stand;
/ui action toolbarSlot12;
/pause 4000;
/stand;
/ui action toolbarSlot13;

etc etc etc through toolbarSlot20;

Then I place premade camps in the bottom of my toolbar pane starting from the lower left to the lower right. Note that the lower left corner toolbarSlot you would normally consider to be your 13th toolbar slot is actually toolbarSlot12 due to the fact that the very first slot is labeled 00 instead of 01

All thats left to do is find a safe spot to camp.... fire off the macro... and walk away.

I usually tend to do other things as well while my camp is burning time... for example, I'll get out my probot droid and set it to "guard" just in case a mob runs through trying to kill me. In addition, I've set up seperate sampling macros to gather resources while I'm camping. I've also fiddled with a /maskscent macro for when I set up next to red mobs (but you run the risk of getting attacked while afk).

This is part of the game folks. Everything you need to do this was created by SOE an implemented as part of their interface. The instructions are in their rulebook as well as in game as well as downloadable in their website FAQ so don't give me any bunk about this being an exploit... this is just good usage of your account time while you are at work (which is where I'm at right now!) If they didn't want this to happen, then they would have never made such a robust command interface and macro system - it just wouldn't make sense.

XionLion:

Thanks for the informative post. Can you run two different macro's at the same time? So if i start up my camping one, as well as my survey one, will they run togeter? Or should I just write both into the same marcro (which I can do, just is more of a pain =P).

I have two seperate macros.. one for camp.. one for sampling... however I do add the /stand; command to my camping to interupt any sampling I'm doing at the time.

Also note, that this is a work in progress. I've yet to figure out the precise timing for camps and it seems like a lot of unkown factors can prevent you from building a camp (for example I noticed I was in combat at somepoint when a camp tried to fire and it failed)... thank goodness for Probot!

My best success thusfar has been 5 camps at 1:20 minutes apart.... for a total of about 5500 camping xp... not great.. but I was asleep and call it a blessing that I received any xp at all.

ROFL Nibiru

Ray , I don't think anybody wants to bash you per se, bro, it's just that you are coming off a bit rough, man. Getting to Master Ranger is a feat in and of itself, but HOWto get there is up to the individual. I will start by aplogizing for telling you to get a life for spending 16 hours a day (lol) since release to power level your way to MR.If that's YOUR method, fine, more power to you and I honestly hope youfeel like you've accomplished something. IMHO, however,Power Gaming is no way to play and I identify with it differently than making a macro to bypass SOME boring camping.I still do peeelenty of camping in game which is why in my original post I specifically stated that I macro to SUPPLEMENT survival xp, not to p-level my way to MR. I think you can understand the difference. I really enjoy the social aspect of having a complete stranger pop in to say "hi", unleash pets, get healed, dance away mind wounds, talk about Lebannese Footwear, or whatever, but it doesn't happen all the time. Hell if it did, then camping wouldn't be boring. But for the most part it is and I will continue to supplement my Survival skill grind with a macro. Cheers

Well, people look for macros because camping is a BORING part of levelling up Scout/Ranger. Its not active at all. You sit in a camp, and can do absolutely nothing in game, except maybe survey (another boring activity), craft, or forage.

My plan for levelling up Survival XP is as follows:

Set up camp.

Go watch episode of anime.

Reset camp.

Go watch episode of anime.

Lather, rinse, repeat.

Just an update on the camp pausing time...

I've had better success firing off all my camps in sequential order by moving the pause time up to:

/pause 5000;

This allows more time for fluctuation in the camp auto-disband. at 4000 I was noticing some camps wouldn't fire off and it would skip every other camp or so... at 5000 they seem to all be firing off in orde as intended.

I can see people turning this into a sampling and camping macro to get their camping xp and also gather resources...

sample-pause-stand-pitch camp-sit-pause-stand

rinse and repeat. Not saying I would do this, but I can see it happening...
