I actually managed to not grind and I"m master scout, it was the most frustrating xp though. I managed to get my xp by takeing medic novice and taking care of my own wounds and my steady partners wounds, usually got about 800 a pop.

That's exactly what I've been doing. Wake up - camp. Leave for work - camp. Get home - camp. Make dinner - camp. Do the dishes - camp. Clean the litter box - camp. Do the laundry- camp.

I will say this, my apartment has never been cleaner!

I can't even imagine the insane amount of camping you'd have to do above the MS level to reach Ranger. And all for what? So you can have improved camps that no one really needs.

Yeah - but they look cool.

As of now, I've got another 120k worth of Survival to work through to make Master Ranger. (I've filled the Trapping tree, on Hunting IV and Explore III so I should have the rest of the trees filled by tomorrow night).

Added out, that's 120 camps to burn through, at a rate of 30 minutes per camp (assuming the worst case scenario) with each camp giving 1000 XP, I'll be done in 60 hours. Little over a weeks worth of 10 hours a day worth of camping.

Anyone got a blaster handy? I've got a headache.

I'd be more than happy to lone you my blaster, but I'm presently using it to shoot random holes in my campsite, otherwise known as the bane of my scouting existance!

I made Master Scout without macroing or grinding. I didn't even do it in a group, but instead did it solo. I would just go fight stuff and when my health got low, I camped. I have been Master scout for weeks now. It took longer than all my other trees and as a Ranger, I have gotten to at least Tier II in all the skills, except the camping one which I have yet to reach the first tier. However, I will not grind or macro this xp and with the next patch, the process should speed up somewhat, though not sure how much. I do know that allowing the building of tents in no-build zones (except cities) will make my life somewhat easier as I find myself low on health, but not far enough away from town to camp.

Anyway, just wanted to let you guys know that you can get this xp without grinding it and without macroing it, but you have to have the patience to wait on it. I am in no rush to be Master Ranger, just as I was in no rush to be Master Scout, and that turned something that has frustrated others into just playing the game for me.

I also didn't need to grind the survival XP to make it to Master Scout, lo those many (I guess its actually three) week ago.

But Ranger is just taking significantly longer. Which is should - of course. I am a patient man, and I am trying to enjoy the journey through the trees, but that camping XP bar on my hud is just sitting there, taunting me. I can't take much more of it.

Not a bad idea, maybe my girl would be less annoyed if I agreed to clean while I was doing this...

I just finished Camping 3 with no grinding. I selected the survey tree and while in camp I sample the entire time or until my blue goes below minimum. As it also takes actionI can heal myself for more. Even better is to find a partner doing survey also, team up, heal each other and max your xp in about 10-15 min.

Sounds like fun (NOT!). I have yet to make it to Tier III in the camping skill of the scout tree. My primary goal is to become a creature handler, Scout Master is only my secondary goal so I have not yet felt the need to grind, but I'm beginning to wonder what else to do.

The problem is, I am fully intent on becoming nothing but a powerfull offensive character. I have little to no interest in surveying, foraging, or crafting. I just want to be out there fighting EVERYTHING with a Rancor at my side.

Even if you do want to do some of that stuff, you still frequently run materials, or space in your inventory, or your completely healed (I have so many traps now they should last me through the end of the month). It's the sitting there doing nothing but picking your nose part that sucks. At least if I were fishing then I'd be somewhat mentally stimilulated. Of course... where do you fish on Tatooine?

You could always sit there and pick your Rancors' nose. They probably need the help, those big claws probably hurt up there.

Getting the Survival XP for Master Scout was not that bad. As a brawler, I got wounded a lot, so when I would have about 10 to 20 wounds in a few stats (enough to go though two "ticks") I would set up a camp and rest for 10 to 12 minutes. Maybe sample or dance as well.

Now that I am working on Fronteering III, I grind. This one skill is more Survival XP then the whole of the Sounting Tree, but I don't get XP any faster. Then there will be Fronteering IV. 80k.....about twice the Scouting Master. With out realy trying, all my other skill are almost level IV.

The big question is, will I get Master Ranger before the Survival XP changes come in to make any difference?

I feel your pain. I'm in the exact same boat. I should have all of the Ranger requirements done while I still work on Camping again.

I'm sorry that I don't know have more information on when the new patch is coming out. Here is what the Scout dev told me (This was on July 30):

"[The] patch is already on Test Center and our internal QA server being given the shake down by the QA
team. Hopefully, that patch will go out to live servers in less than a week.

The whole process of testing and preparing a patch can take a couple weeks. We are still working out the best way to move quickly on big patches. The current patch on Test Server was supposed to be on Live this past weekend, but we couldn't do it in time...too many immediate issues with Live came up.As time goes on, the patch cycle will accelerate.

SO, I can't give you an exact estimate on when this stuff will go live."

That's why I feel as if the changes are imminent, but I don't know for sure.
