Thread: You convinced us

Well I'm happier but I still would like to see the ham costs brought down to a reasonable level. Remove the stupid 2.5 x mele damage multiplier for Rifles. It is a club to whack people with at least up close. A spear with a bayonet attached. Make melee damage posture related not weapon related.

I like the 2.5x melee damage. Ok I don't like it, but I think it helps define rifleman as a ranged class. Every class needs weaknesses, just look at all the people that consider pistol overpowered simply because it has very few. I feel the 2.5x melee damage helps us to remember we are a LONG range weapon user, we are not meant to stand toe to toe with people.
Of course this is based on mobs having to run to catch you up and not using their new force powers to instantly teleport next to you.
Thanks much for listening to our concerns. As a note, I'm on Bria which has hadno Ditanium Steel.. is this for a reason, or just bad luck in the rotation? no steel, no T21, but I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Holy crap...
They listened to us. I think that makes them the best MMO game company ever, just by default. I don't think this has ever happened before in this industry. ![]()
OMG-
First of all minimum and maximum damage were fine where they were if u lower and make the speed increase this is just an upgraded dlt20a is what it is!
This is elite rifle not barely surpassing a laser rifle it is meant to serve as our "peace makers" so to speak.
All we need is the AP3 LIKE IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE and the original min/max dmg + the ranges put on finally LIKE IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE and maybe lower the encumbrance some.
Otherwise original is best!(original=how its supposed to be)
I wish they would have let the weapon sit out there for awhile. let the game develpoe with it at its original power. Give us a week on the boards to discuss it while other players bring up possible complaints and go on from there.
This weapon is still not the savior I was hoping it to be. I didn't pick the "dealist long range profession" to be knockdown spammeed from 60m by a pistol or a a profession thats spends half their pre-reqs eating granola and skinning hides.
Once they fix the AP vs unarmored, this gun will still kick ass in pvp. AP3 vs no armor is basically double damage.
Which will make people wear armor... which will make us NEED the AP3. hehe

K, can you other professions quit hi-jacking our threads? :/
I hope that doesn't refer to me...as a Master Weaponsmith, the T21 is as much mine as it is yours. Plus, I have a more balanced view of things because I *know* the gammut of weapons, and I see how each one fits into *OUR* (yours and mine) game.
The focus of the T21 nerf was the fact that with its AP3 rating and subsequent multiplier, AND the extra multiplier for specials, the damage was severely unbalanced. The "fix" they put in killed the T21 by removing its AP3, not due to its decrease in "stat" damage. The T21 serves a purpose, which is to obliterate heavily armor targets. Losing its AP3 made it a completely worthless weapon (worthless in the sense that it was not worth using in ANY situation). By adding AP3 back into the mix, they've given the T21 its rightful purpose back...against just about any target, the Laser Rifle will be a better weapon to use. However, against an AR 3 target, the T21 will completely outshine the Laser Rifle, as intended. This gives the T21 *a* purpose...it doesn't make it the uber weapon that you guys want.
Basically...learn to carry around several different guns, and learn to use the best one for the job.
In 100% agreement with D'Tox here. The T-21 rifle was originallymentioned in the Prima strategy guide as a"seige" weapon. To me, that meanstherifle is good in situations where heavily armored targets need taken out. Even with the damage nerf, reinstating its AP to 3 moves the weapon back to toward its original intent. I don't think it was ever theintention of the devs to allowriflemen to solo multiple redcon targets with it exclusively as an uber weapon.
With that said ..., the T-21 nerfwas not the issue here anyway (imho). The game's current unbalanced/crippled combat system has not been kind tomany professions with one of the particularly bad professions being the rifleman (DEs and Commandos ... we feel your pain). If you take into consideration the mind pool costs for the rifleman's specials, the broken stealth/defensive skills of the profession, the inconsistencies between pistolaccuracy and rifle accuracy at any range, and the spammable overpowering skillsofother combat professions (pistoleer and BH just to name a few)... is it really a surprise to anyone that us riflemen would jump all over any chance we had to somehow even the odds?
AsariflemanI don't want to be uber ... I want to be functional and I'm positive I'm not alone. Get us out of pure survival mode by fixing the attributes that are supposed to make our class unique and useful in combat and I guarantee that noone here willgive a rat's arse if they can't do 3000+ damage with a single shot.

Now where are the flying elephants?
Seriously though, I agree, this is a SMALL step forward, though I think we can hold it as proof that sometimes we can get things fixed.
"AP3
Min 80-115
Max 200-375
Spd 6.5-10.5
Current(High) HAM Costs
-70@0m, -20@50m, +10@64m"
I love these numbers. Reasonable damage, good AP Capacity, high speed. Pretty much exactly what a Rifle should do. Bravo.
Furthermore, Holocron, I salute you. You read through your players' calculations, conceded error, and proposed a comprimise. That is beautiful. That is a level above any MMORPG I have ever played. I applaud you. Honestly, I couldn't have asked for a more responsive Developer. Having these kind of things fixed within a day by massive player-Developer correspondence in such a massive game, played by hundreds of thousands . . . wow. That's not just laudable, that's admirable. I would just like to say that the restoration of the AP is something we would really, really appreciate. Not quite enough in my opinion, but the very fact of concession is a league beyond anything I or so many others had ever expeced. I'm actually happy with how a MMORPG is being run. I still think the DPS numbers reestablished in the T21 thread indicate that an augmentation of damage is also in order, but sheer disaster has been averted. Thanks to your peerless abilities as a Developer and conduit for our community, dialogue is happening, and changes are being made.
Not to harp, but I'm still amazed by the very reality of this dialogue -- such responsiveness, such communication . . . it really is awe-inspiring at this point, and is everything I'd hoped for in a MMORPG. This is only the first step towards balance, but it is the first step that means the most. Thank you for hearing us ![]()

By high speed, I meant a high numerical value in seconds, which, I suppose, means low speed ![]()
