I wish we were true snipers, but that's not the case. The implementation with current game mechanics might be difficult. So, even though we have "sniperish" abilities, that's not really our current role.

Yeah. But it's ok. Rifleman is a really powerful profession. Could probably getting swamped by some melee prof may be bad. But if we can get few good shots, they are going only one direction, down. MRM rocks also in PvE too.
I think we should think of ourselves as Riflemen (or Riflemaidens!) not snipers. We have sniper-ish skills, but we ain't snipers. (You are absolutely right, Avad) We are more of SAW gunner. (I tried on Americas Army. Its sweet.) I would love a special, "Vertical Butt Stroke." But I am ok with what I have right now.

"A) Sniper's attacks should be HAM specific. The pistoleer shot's are closer to real life rifle shots. Eyeshot? "
Eyeshot is bh profession special.

I agree with smorpheus, its starwars, not a first person shooter
And the proffesion is not called "Sniper" its called "Riflemen"
And mmorpgs cannot have that much details

Owen -
Chill. ... As the way it is coded, it is very unlikely you get sniper prof. First, you are gonna get NERFed so fast due to griefing that results from the profession. Second, you can't snipe in most places ... you are only useful in open area which prevents you to go PvE in exciting places.
These two things make the profession fairly unpopular. You want something that give you challenge and intrigue enough to keep at it. This is beneficial for SOE as much as for you, but sniper prof isn't it. SOE is going to face huge recoding and another huge recoding to NERF the prof.
I suppose the game is not suited for that sorta fun. Mind you, I like sniping as much as SAW gunning. You can see from my prev posts.

Maybe not for you personallybut my opinion differs somewhat. I like the rifleman as it is at the moment, gunner and a little bit of sniping but i would see the sniper profession as a challange and this in itself would keep me interested. I dont want to be the walking machine of death where i just run into combat guns firing, id be very happy being able to spend a long time preparing my attack, moving around unoticed and setting up my kills with perfection.
Perhaps im on my own here but thats how i see sniping; stealth, patience and very high risk, not just hitting someone in the head. Im all for having a sniper profession in the game because it will simply open up the who gcw to lots more danger, tactics and require you to form up squads to help secure a base.
I think you inderestimate to interest people would have in playing a sniper role, i dont think it would be uninteresting and im prety sure alot will agree with me there. In my eyes its very important to put forward clearly defined roles to certain profession to make groups and combat work well, although we dont need sniper its second in my want list (under ranger revamp) as a new and exciting profession to play. Only the dedicated and determined need apply to sniper profession, its not for everyone, thats why it would be an elite-elite profession not an elite.
Again its down to personal opinion but i bet there is alot of peope out there who would find it extremely fun to take on the role and the risks of a sniper.

I think something to the extent of
/riflemeleedefence1
description for attack:
Using the butt of the rifle the rifleman knocks out the opponent for 10 seconds
this attack does no damage
and
/riflemeleedefence2
Using the butt of the rifle the rifleman knocks out the opponent for 10 seconds
this attack does little damage to the opponent leaving them stunned or dizzy
would be nice
its about time someone has thought of this idea...i play fps games and i have yet to see a rifle melee skill

i have to agree with u rogue II when i started the rifleman prof i thought sniper shot would allow me to have an instent kill on monsters and ppl it turns out that its only used for pvp and with concealed shot u cant even choose which HAM u can shoot at this is one prof im disapointed in even the TKM better then this, u think with a sniper u be able to snipe players with out them seeing u like in real life snipers. im ex military and during training i had a few friends who was snipers and we never seen them when in training we lost 3/4 are plattoon before we could get away from him.

-I agree with him to the fullest extent, I know you people call it Rileman, not Sniper, but really, is there any difference?!

I actually agree with him there is a sniper tree in rifleman so technically we are snipers to some extent so hes right it would be nice to be able to target which pool we want.
