Thread: Wunna know what PvP is like now?
Does being knocked down suck? Yes. Would making prone players immune to knockdown be fair and balanced? Probably. Does throwing a fit like a spoiled 6 year old with a very foul mouth help the situation? No.
Aldeon is doing a fine job reporting our concerns to the devs from what I have seen, bugs will be fixed when then get around to them and things will be balanced over time.
Mmmmmkay? Bye bye now.
Aldeon -
Shut up with this "grouping" crap. You're not here to tell us how to play. Pvp is about whatever I want it to be about. And a sniper is traditionally solo, which is why a lot of us are riflemen.
for the love of...
just take away our freaking 'Sniper' title already, its an insult to anyone who ever has been a sniper to give a sniper title to someone who takes 3-4 shots to kill.
I wanted to add, though - I started out the day thinking we were totally hosed, because the first person I went up against was a BH.
Yes, we are even less of a match for a BH then we were before. They can deal mind damage at least twice as fast as we can, without killing themselves in the process with high HAM costs. Plus they can knock us down first and eyeshot us to their heart's content while we are helpless.
But...
Against anyone else, though,we are not that bad off. I pvp'd all day, gaining about 500 faction from it.You need to totally revamp your strategies, but we arestill veryviable.Mindshot is your new best friend. Hit them with the T21 from max range, then run. Use a stimpack B and heal yourself for about 400 from health and action. (crates of 50 of these with 26 uses each are about 15k on my server) Then move in, MS a different guy, then run again. Repeat until you can finish them off, then sniper shot (if you have it). I was able to solo groups of 3 and 4 with relative ease this way. They plink you for 50 or 60 damage at a time, and you just heal that damage away while you're running.
I'm very interested to try that dizzy/supression combo with the spraystick. That would have helped a lot.
We still need, though, a counter to the BHs eyeshot. They shoot ridiculously fast for about 200 mind per shot. I shoot slowly for about 350 average per shot (with my T21). Coupled with the other issues (pistol accuracy at all ranges, etc), BHs are now extremely overpowered. Much more than before.
Right now, unless the BH is an idiot (and Aldeon, that BH who couldn't manage to kill you after he knocked you down? yeah, he was an idiot) you will always lose, no matter what your skill level or strategy.
Don't say we need to group to pvp and we should just accept it. That's wrong.
Don't say we need to be master to pvp and we should just accept it. That's wrong.
What we need is a counter to knockdown. Whether it's going prone or whatever, we need a counter. Eyeshot is also much too powerful now. The combination of incredibly high pistol DPS,pinpoint accuracy at all rangesand mind damage now makes eyeshot the most powerful thing in the game by a longshot. That attack effectively replaces our entire profession.

If a group is needed to compete in PvP, why did Tek get owned by ONE pistoleer? not a GROUP of pistoleers. ONE pistoleer!.
He didn't. Notice the knockdown was from 63 meters? He got owned by a bounty hunter or smuggler.

Disarm shot is a knockdown too. They get it at the first tier of one of their branches, i believe. Furthermore at Master Pistoleer they get Disarm Shot 2 which is an AOE knockdown.
Disarm shot 1 is not a knockdown.
I think TekDragon whines to much, Avaldon does a good job.
It seems to me that TekDragon has never really played a PvP game before, this may or may not be true but your attitude seems to reflect that.
As the game progresses, you have to be at a higher lvl to compete.
When DAoC first came out, you could RvR at lvl 40+, then it moved to 45+ then to lvl 50. Then you have to be lvl 50 with epic, then you had to have player crafted, spellcrafted armour.
You may have been able to compete at a non master lvl, but it seems now you cannot.
Just suck it up and go grind out the rest of the way to master, then you will have the tools you need to pvp.
There are some problems, but I think Avaldon is doing his best to get them fixed.

Just a slight correction on Aldeon's statement that in real life Snipers travel in two's and that Riflemen are meant to group in PvP:
Yes, Snipers travel in twos... sorta. Only one man had the gun, the other is a spotter/Ammo-boy. I don't see an elite-marksman Spotter class coming up any time soon to support us. =p
Shhhh

With all due respect man, PVP is not how you want it to be, its not you who is gonna dictate how it is. How about all the people that want group PVP? They get shafted because YOU want it solo?
Sorry, man, but we are all paying 15$ all like you.
Bottomline, its SOE game, and THEY decide how a rifleman and PVP should be. You play along the line, or you hit that cancel button.
I think you have the wrong attitude about this. Hatch is saying that it should be possible for Rifleman that have not reached Master to be able to compete in PvP.
Yes, it is SOEs game and Yes they decide what goes into the game, but the purpose of these boards AND our Rifleman Correspondent is to bring up issues that need to be addressed. It seems that certain fixes are being implemented to satisfy more of the majority of the players which happen to be BHs. If SOE wants to continue to receive $15 a month from me to play this game, then they need to give everyone equal consideration and treatment, not favor the masses that chose BH as their profession.
I, for one, do not like to be considered as a joke now because of my profession as a Rifleman.
"One shot, One kill" is a sniper's creed, but as of now I do not think we are anything close to being snipers.

How many times do i (and all the other people who bother practising reading comprehension) have to say it?
Pistoleer w 1 box > Rifleman w 1 box
Pisoleer w 1 box > Rifleman w 5 boxes
Pistoleer w 1 box > Rifleman w 10 boxes
Pistoleer w 1 box > Rifleman w 15 boxes
Pistoleer w 1 box > Master Rifleman
Balanced? Please... dont make me laugh.
Tek do your homework, Disarm 1 is not a knockdown, it damages the weapon only.
Mmm.. i tend to disagree as ive been knocked down by many a novice gun fighter at max range.. but lets just ASSUME your correct.
Regardless of what level they get knockdown, regardless of whether they are a smuggler, pistoleer, carbineer, or bounty hunter.... they WILL kill us in one shot.
Repeat: They WILL kill us in one shot.
Now pardon me, but i thought if ANYONE was going to be doing one shot kills it would be us.
