Thread: Nerf/quit... A serious question for the dedicated rifleman..
whatever.
my account is already canceled, its reactivation is subject entirely on the upcoming changes. if the ydestroy the profession, it stays deactivated. simple as that.
who gives a crap what is or isnt overpowered.
i paly rifleman as i have chosen fromlaunch and before. when the character i have grown to liek will be changed to the point of me no longer liking it, then i will quit. simple.
and i already have.
reasons:
1. pistoleers are better at max range then rifleman.
2. mind is not recoverable via stims, so you dont have an infinite pool liek action or health.
3. concealment, any type of stealth which the profession is designed for, is not working at all on a practical scale.
4. no rifleman specific armor available in game that would permit us to function while wearing armor. in order to be able to fire more then 4 showe have to wear clothes.
5. bugs, bugs, bugs bugs bugs + poor design.
6. nerf this nerf that nerf somethign else cause of idiot whiners but dont actually fix the bugs.
7. feeling of being lied to, cheated and ripped off by SOE as i have paid for what i was falsely lead to believe was a complete / playable product at launch date, while the game is barely becoming somewhat balanced and professiosn are barely becoming mostly finished (75% or so).
8. professions not doing what they are supposed according to profession descriptions, job titles and poor idiotic design. for example: snipers cant snipe because there is no stealth or any sort of functional , practical sniping whatsoever implementedin game, etc.
9. extremely poor rewards for combat professions. i hate crafting. give me an appropriate reward for time and effortinvested for what i do in game. stupid badges dont count. i need somethng functional, practical and tangible.
10. dying in one or two hits, mostly due to inability to wear armor as stated above, but also because of being forced to pump up mind stats to rediculous levels for reasons also stated above, which has left me with 575 health and 600 in action, while wearing clothes.

When you add fencer defenses and tka defenses and who knows what other defenses hehe, then it makes you guys very tough to hit. Personally, I hope there is a significant change to Rifleman. It will benice to purge our ranks of those who are only dedicated to a style of play and not to the profession itself.
I love the Rifleman concept and will not leave.

For everyones general fund of information, Soontir is a DARN (that ain't the word, but you get my idea)hard guy to kill over in Valcyn...I know, I've tried, many, many times this past weekend
I think I killed this guy once, and it wasn't 1-vs-1, I think I had about 6-8 other guys with me trying to take him down. I am NOT trying to flame this guy, he is a DARN good player and uses his character DARN well in PvP.
a speed cap
chaining together specials to form combos
more damage
etc. etc. etc.
none of these ideas were EVER mentioned again by any developer on the forums, nor has klaw recieved any information supporting a nerf.
but by all means, preemptively quit due to being misinformed, if it will clear out the inane discussion in here.
i wrote a huge ass post about this before publish 6 when people said the exact same thing as they say now, but honestly i'm too fed up with this board to even find the link. if someone wants to hunt it down fine.
I have a problem with Riflemen. You fuggers bogart all my DBs! That damn sniper shot. MY DB! I incapped that fool, MINE MINE, get your filthy mits off the sniper shot hotkey. Health incap, SEE SEE, mine MINE you **edit**!

QFE My reasons for considering quitting have nothing to do with any percieved upcoming nerfs. As other posters have noted, the rifleman is one of the most stable professions in this game (which is a little scary considering we still have abilities that don't work properly). But with rumours spreading like wildfire on these boards, and every second profession yelling for nerfs to the other professions, it gets tiring enough to listen to that it's almost a reason to play a different game in and of itself.
And of course the SOE mod staff do nothing to shut down rumour supporting threads or nerf cries, which would do a lot to improve the state of the community, never mind these boards. But apparently the new mod staff aren't really sure about why they're here, which must be why they don't do anything to actually improve productivity. Although they do like to talk about it... ![]()
And RanShino - you know what they say: If you can't beat 'em.... it looks like there'll be some upcoming openings for new riflemen, anyhow. ![]()

I can't understand how some of you can sit here and contemplate quitting because they are nerfing your precious "broken" rifleman. Personally, it's stupid that a rifleman can fire as fast as a master pistoleer, and be just as accurate from point-blank range... and not to mention having standard 700+ dmg rifles with heavy AP
i hate when people bring up the rifle is faster then pistol arguement. In all honesty look at RL rifles and pistols. Rifles are heck of a lot faster then pistol and more damaging! I admit pistols do have better close range accuracy, but the accuracy in most pistols goes to **edit** after 50m. The only rifles that should be slower then a pistol is old bolt operated ones, mainly sniper/hunting rifles. Now try to imagine how rifles would work in a era where there is space travel and laser blasters.
Anyhow this is my personal view point of pistol, carbine and rifle speed. The speed mod should all be the same in all professions, say something nice like +75, maybe +80 with master marksman. I believe this is the same speed bonus BH get with BH pistol 4 and carbine 4. This would make the speed of the weapon play a larger role in deciding how fast you can actually fire. I dont think there should be a speed cap aside from the one that already exist. If there is a speed cap placed on rifleman, that would make all speed mod skill attachements, some of which cost us millions of credits to purchase from other players, completely and utterly useless.
Oh and on another note, pistoleers have a lot more options then rifleman. They can dabble if they wish in BH for way more speed and accuracy or dabble in smugglar for some of the best pistol specials in the game. Same is true with carbineers being able to dabble in BH. Rifleman does not have any other profession that directly boost their performance, not that we really need one at this point.
