You know I am normally quite a passive person, I realise that games have bugs and as a programmer i understand thatproblems are sometimes hard to fix,but this is pretty pathetic, i don't see why this hasn't been fixed yet. If melee speed is increasing ranged speed then surely this is not too hard a bug to fix.

I gave up Master Pistols (Where I was speed capped) to take up Rifleman because it is clearly better, I thought "Well I have ranged speed from a free unlock now so no need to spend millions on speed tapes"

it's just being calculated as a seperate skill... so it works like this:

[weapon speed]*[delaymodifier]*[100-riflespeed]*[100-ranged speed]

so you get about 1 more rifle speed out of it.

How do you know this?

How does this explain why people are seeing fs melee speed change their ranged weapon speed?

How does this explain why melee professions are seeing themselves capped with melee speed but not ranged with ranged speed?

If you check your skills window you can see ranged speed as a modifier... therefor it doesn't add up with rifle speed... basically this is the way it's supposed to work... and as far as I notice it does work like this...

How melee speed works I can't say cause I haven't gotten there yet...

just because it shows as a seperate mod in the skills window (which i have seen) does not meen it shouldn't add on to your actual speed, you are just guessing.

yeah I am guessing... but seing as the dev's make this game I don't think they want us an extra 12 in speed... that sounds WAY to much... especially when you consider the Combat Rebalance coming up. Why would they make new stuff that they know they have to change in a month or 2?

Why would they have to change speed? Damage - yes, Buffs - yes, Armor - yes, HAM - yes:I have seen no mention of changing speed.

Plus it is clear from other peoples posts that melee speed is adding an actual mod, and that melee speed is adding a ranged speed mod.

So are these people lying? I would expect someone to have said that they have not seen the increase on melee if this is so and to denounce those people saying they are as liars, this has not happened.

Those people who have said that their ranged speed has increased have then gone on to say they also have melee speed as well as ranged so clearly there is a problem here.

Why shouldn't it add 12? You are able to cap your speed from SEAs and that is about what is needed to cap pistols,so why shouldn't they give us this when we are force sensitive? It is not a free speed cap for most people and requires a lot of work, it also means people are able to cap their speed without spending what could be millions on SEAs, a lot of people do not have millions of credits.

It does make sense.

Because if you can cap at speed you still do alot of dmg, and can inflict various status effects at blinding speed.

How do we know that it's not Melee speed that is bugged? It clearly seems that way since it's adding to ranged speed.

I'm not saying those people are lying, I'm just giving you my point of view.

Yeah, I can agree with that. There is clearly a problem here.

Sure, you can cap from SEA's... but SEA's don't add a whole new skill modifier, it enhances your present ones. I'm still pretty sure it's supposed to work as a seperate skill mod.

It does make sense.

Not much do...

If your weapon is doing 1k per second now and they half damage and leave speed the same then you will still be doing half the damage, if they want to make it a 1/4 of the damage then they 1/4 the damage and you are doing 1/4 of the damge, regardless of speed.

Also they can easily lower thebase speed, or lower the chance of states sticking, there will always be a speed cap on everything and they need only change the base professions, no need to change FS mods

Plus it is clear from other peoples posts that melee speed is adding an actual mod, and that melee speed is adding a ranged speed mod.

Yes, both are bugged imo, melee speed is clearly adding an actual melee speed mod and also clearly ranged is not, thereforethat is totaly unbalanced and makes no sense, it seems more likely that melee speed works becuase thataffects LS speed and between P9 + P10 that is all people would realy have noticed, it is only now people are picking up FS skills without being jedi and noticing this propperly, although when people went through the jedi conversion process at P9 they could choose normal professionsI know of no-one who chose a ranged proff

So are these people lying? I would expect someone to have said that they have not seen the increase on melee if this is so and to denounce those people saying they are as liars, this has not happened.

I understand that but you are in effect saying the opposite to everyone else's observations so clearly this implies they are lying, though not that you are calling them liars.

What it is showing in the skills window is a display of the table of skill mods you have, this does not prove anything about how the underlying game mechanics are working and how those mods are applying

It does make sense.

Not much do...

That doesn't - not much do make sense? (did you mean not much does?)

We shall have to agree to disagree here, though i have enjoyed this banter we will have to wait and see what happens i guess.

Yeah I guess so... anyway I would be happily surprised if it was intended to work the way you are saying...

With 113 rifle speed it should shoot before I even press the button
