"Ghillie" not "Ghuille".

Besides that, don't you think that there would be a more advanced form of this technology? Some sort of "cloaking" device like in the "Predator" movies?

Ghillie suits are afairly primitive form of concealment and would in no way provide an adequate means of cover.

The suit needs to be for both PvE and PvP. There is no sniping otherwise--- just look at the radar...

I don't think it would make us overly powerful... the rifleman linehas anti-sniping.

I agree that the decay rate should be the same as regular armor....or make it get better with advanced skills.

I really don't care if the tailor makes it either..it wouldn't be that bad of a deal but I think it would add a certain crafting element to the rifleman line that might be interesting.

Ghillie suits are not made of local plants. They are made from materials beforehand, based on information relating to their mission. What type of stuff they will be working in. It's main function is to break up the three main factors which lead you to be seen. The human silouette, the color patterns, and movement (the suit does make it easier to conceal slower movements, such as the working of a bolt on a rifle, or the use of sighting equipment, and such).

Some things such as dry weeds are used, but usually in forest terrain, and similar areas, cloth strips are used and dyed appropriately.

Make it so you have to craft them as well. Tend to mean you have to be a scout or have some harvesting skills as well or you could buy it if you didnt. I dont think it makes sense that you need a tailor to do it, it should be made by the rifleman themselves. To that extent make it so only the person that makes it can wear it, which again will stop people from selling it to people that shouldnt have it.

But it certainly should be part of the concealment line, thus would also restrict people just wearing them, with that make it so it is at least advance before you get the 1st one. i.e.

Intermiadiate Conceal - concealment shot

Advanced Concealmean - Guille Suit - Forest

Expert Concealment - Guiile Suir - Plains

Master Concealment - Guille Suits - Desert

I like that idea of decay... the same type of decay as for armour. The progressions for the concealment line looks pretty good too.

If scouts can make thier owncampsI think it is only logical that a Rifleman could make his own ghillie suit.

How about instead of being a **edit** about it you try and explain why it would be a bad idea huh?

I can say from experience that primitive works. I used to play forest paintball at a very constant, hardcore rate, and the best players out there were the ones you couldn't see. These suits may not seem very high-tech, but I can assure you...if out in the woods being hunted by a man in a ghuille suit and another man in "standard" camo...the man in standard camo is the sore thumb.

This is an excellent idea. However, since they can't even get RESOURCES right, I doubt they'll be putting in any more crafted items any time soon.

In Empire Strikes Back, CaptianNeedoc (*sp) says;"Surely a ship that size doesnt have a cloaking device?" (in reference to when Solo parks the Falcon on the back of a Star Destroyer to hide it from being detected - no windows on the back of SD's then?!?).

I think I read in the EU the Emperor has a Tyderian Shuttle that is fitted with a cloak, but the general jist of this is that they are stillfaaarrr too big to be man portable.. Also, according to the star wars site the Storm Commando's armour is apparently covered in some sensor absorbant paint, and thats the best armour the Empire has for covert troops. Thus we have to stick with conventional camouflage techniques. Im sure someone will disagree and find some instance of a 'pred' style cloak in the Star Wars universe.

hmmm either way, all they need to do is use thermal sensor to find us =)

another interesting note: snipers usually MAKE their own ghillie suit =) ... cause it doesn't need to be pretty, it basically just need to look like whatever they're comfortable with (if they like some sort of bush and want to blend in with those.. or whatever)... its more of a personal thing...

would be cool if master rifleman can make their own =).... but guess thats too primitive for starwars..

then again collecting bone/hide and meat from animal is also very primitive no?... and kungfu.. but we all know that TKA rocks everything (other than ranged Knockdown.. but 80% TKA have ranged KD or are going for one)

Some BDU's these days are able to prevent detection with thermal scopes.. pretty sure that in SWG the same tech would be available.

Couldnt find the article I read about this, but here is a link to a producer of IR and Thermal proofing coatings.

hmm if we do get ghillies added, we're all gonna end up looking like wookies

well green ones anyway... maybe you have to skin some wookies as part of the material collection process muahahaha

The cloaking device that was referred to in ESB is probably just to hide afrom radar detection, not any kind of visual concealment device. But you probably have a point that a portable mini-cloaking device is not feasible in the timeframe of this game.

This is a very good ides except that as a combat class we should only get cert's to use the different types of suit's etc as we level up the concelament tree and as the dev's seem to like the whole interdependency thing between classes either tailors/armoursmiths should make these or maybe a combination (& BE's could make enhancers etc etc).

I think that only snipers should be able to make the suits. That why they are personalized like lightsabers (per FAQ, Jedi's that use another Jedi's lightsaber suffer a penality). Using a suit made by any one else should severaly penalize the user. However, I wouldn't have a problem needing materials from other professions, for example synthetic cloth from tailors, mabye a wire mesh trap from a scout (trap is used like a rope net to tie all the cloth to)... just stabbing in the dark

The not showing up on radar (probably a master skill though) could maybe be up to where the target gets to within in a certain minimum range of us and then we show up (maybe when they get inside of our ideal range) If we were to be totally invisible on radars I would guarantee ppl would be shouting NERF,NERF,NERF! so a bit of moderation might be the way to get this through and keep it.

I really like this idea, say for example we don't show up on the rader unless we are within45 meters. That way we are not completely invisible to radar butgives us some delaybefore they find us.However, to other riflemen we show up like normal. Lets face it... a goodrifleman knows the best shooting positions and would spot another rifleman faster than anyone else.

So let me get this straight, you want a Ghuille Suit, in the concealment line, so that only snipers can use it. Tailors make it we use it, or we make it and use it? Also take into consideration ranger should have access to this as well. I didnt quie read it all, so not sure what else you wanted. Just for looks for when your fighting or actually for something?
