Thread: Anyone notice that Master Rifleman never agree with Novices on our Top Issues?

DarkInigma when the novices ask for advice I am there giving my 2 cents, I have no problem doing my part to help people out with a tough profession to level. The problem is 99% of the posts by Novices is whining about another profession or asking the devs to change our profession. If you read my previous post you understand where this will take the Rifleman profession. The novices IMO have to much of a voice for the profession, and in the end will ruin it for everyone.
Silver I didn't mean thist to be taken as an attack against you. Let me make this clear I agree 100% with you. Balancing should be at the master level, helping should be in the form of apprenticeship and mastership not changing the entire class.

play the class right, or level as efficiently as they can, and this may be their problem as well. (ie: don't go master sniper before getting flushing2, you're wasting a whole bunch of time, but ppl want that "sniper" title).
whats so good about flushing2. Its just a random pool attack so you'll be taking 3 times as long to kill a target because you'll be hitting different pools
So why the 2.5 multiplier? What advantagedoes that offset?
It balances my ability to bring down multiple targets at once. With some coordination I can hit on average 3 targets for 1k+ damage with Flushing Shot 2. On close quarter places like dungeons I can hit many more. I thought that would probably get me killed faster due to the multiple aggros, but so far the incap/death rate is the same. I switched from single target attacks to multi-target and I have no problems getting xp in groups. Lately I seem to be the higher damage dealer.
This is kind-of a wandering thought so bear with me... ![]()
First off, I'ma novice Rifleman and I DO think that the 2.5 damageIS anissue. Why? As was brought out before, almost all PvE is Melee, so we shoot something they charge us, we die. Period. When a Dwarf Nuna can hit you for over 300 point of damage, that's sad... However I think the bigger issue is the HAM costs. Again, it's been brought out more times then I can count, It SUCKS when you're attacking a 10k HAM MOB and you run out of mind and have no way to heal it. If pistol special attacks take health, and Carbines take action, make rifle take a combo of both. Dealing out massive damage SHOULD cost big, but it should be something that we can heal. I think that if that were done, the 2.5 damage issues wouldn'tbean issue because we'd have something to offset that massive disability.
I even feel.. WAIT!!!
*puts on fireproof suit*
Ok, I even feel that if they can't fix the accuracy issues between pistols and rifles that the Rifle damage needs to be upped BIG time, at least make the min damage higher anyway. Having a rifle do less damage then a pistol is embarrasing. As for the T-21 thoughts, get them on all servers then they can be a factor in all these discussions. If all the other combat professions have their elite weapons, then we should be compensated for that lack of ours. What do you all think? Please, be nice ![]()
YarKi,
Such hate dude...

I play on Bria. No T21's yet. Which means there never has been such a thing as a "prenerf T21" as far as Im concered.
Suppression Fire costs what 18k combat XP? I never got it becauseI felt the combat XP was too precious at the time. I was saving it all up for rifle spec abilities. I just used warning shot on aggroing mobs. Still haven't got suppression fire to this day.
Masters feel very threatened by the removal of the 2.5x melee dmg. Right now it is our major defense against MORE nerfs. If they change it YAY for the Novice. But what insane nerf will they impose on the rifleman profession that will gimp the Master? 3 sec spd cap? Holy hell, I hope not.
To the rest of you guys...gooddiscussion - keep them coming.
i too had a very rough time getting through novice....and i was like **edit**, how is this a playable profession...but like the title of this thread my issues have changed dramaitcally, except my TOP ISSUE...mob warping.
the 2.5 damage multipier....pisses me off but its a decent tradeoff for Strafeshot2...this move used correctly will make you the KING of damage to MULTIPLE targets......this can also get your booty kicked very fast if all mobs are not aggroed on sumthin else like a pet or group member
2nd. issue for a master....Accuracy
3rd.. T21 is still a joke compared to other weapons in gamethat proffesions recieve there last certification for, this is the last rifle we get cert for it should clearly be the best rifle in game hands down...AP3..doesnt give you that in my experience
At Novice..my issues were 1---MOB WARPING2---2.5 extra dam 3----accuracy 4---mind cost 5---t21 wasnt out yet (its out on gorath now butthe required stuff SUCKS)
mind cost is no longer a factor for me for ANY rifle...i have rifles especaiily made where i dont give a rats a$$ what the mind cost is because of breath of heaven-drink and ryshcate--food, if you have not used these before, DO SO NOWWWWW...you will laugh at your cost to fire special moves
Just becuase someone is not a Master Rifleman doenst mean there not a rifleman and shouldnt be allowed to say what should happen. 2.5x melee damage is our number one issue, and you dont experience it much becuase you no longer PvE. But just becuase your master now doesnt mean that everyones issue should change to your issue.
2.5x melee damage is one of the things that makes Rifleman impossible to level, and it is our number one issue, becuase right now theres so many novice rifleman having a tough time leveling.
If you look, we are number 4 most populated class, but the problem with that is, we have very few masters. While the other top classes have tons of masters, you dont find that a problem? That its extremely hard to level?
2 motnhs ago I said the same thing as I still do today, you have to make sure the things you want changed dont make the master rifleman to powerful, and 2 months ago I got flamed by nearly every rifleman becuase 2 months ago there were like 10 master rifleman total.
Most people are high up and most people are high up and have a general sense of knowledge about thwe class, and those things in the vote that would have made am aster rifleman over powered did not get enough votes.
While I feel alot of the things presented are not worth while as they are overpowering to the class as a whole, I stand firmly at my decision as 2.5x melee bieng our number one issue. As 90 percent of PvE is melee, even fully buffed, I am one shotted in PvE sometimes. Ive been hit for 2200 by a commando, 1500 by a TKA.
While I myself dont find 2.5x melee damage much of a problem it is a problem for the class as a whole, while I dont see it bieng completely removed, I do feel it should be position based, or reduced. 2.5x melee is way to much,I have a link somewhere of a Novice Rifleman friend of mine bieng incaped by kreetles.
I still like the idea of 2.5x melee damage vs prone, regardless of profession/weapon carried.
And I still like that 'take cover' is going to be fixed up some, and I love the idea of a small range extension and buffed accuracy while in cover. I only agree with a speed cap if it's reasonable (2 seconds wouldn't be TOO bad, would it?) and includes an improvement in our Profession's weapon damage (higher).
I agree with almost everything Jeisyn had to say in his first post regarding our issues, with the exception of what I posted above.
However, any suggestions for changes are NOT meant to be made live without extensive play testing/balancing. That's just how it should work, that's why they are suggestions. Not that I've seen a lot of that from SOE - at least my impressions of their methods.
If SOE does do this, then you can bet there are changes made already to their code for internal testing.
Aldeon...2.5x melee dmg impossible to level?? come on! i got 600000 XP on dathomir in one evening killing baz...SOLO!
I suggest people use tactics to defeat their enemy. Don't just stand there and blast away Master headshots and hope it hits. I know warning shot is pointless against non-creatures, but then again you gotta know what your going up against.
I personally don't see the 2.5x melee dmg as a serious problem. The only two issues that kept me from leveling any faster was:
