Thread: Welcome To The Rifleman Forum
I'd also like to ask this community to give klawlegna a chance. Although I'm very new to the Rifleman community, I have long known of its problems as Aldeon and I often talked about rifle problems in general. Just because he was not well known does not mean that he would not make a great correspondent. In fact, this has been the case with the Commandos, after Garibaldi quit. Everyone wanted Ivoni to replace him; however, MasterSynn, a relative unknown, was chosen. It's normal to feel skeptical, but MasterSynn turned out to be a GREAT correspondent. He was dedicated and performed his job well above expectations. So give him a shot, as the devs have made pretty good decisions about almost all of the correspondents...except for that marksman guy.
No wonder you riflemen never get anything fixed. You can't even support your correspondant. FFS posting a lot =! quality, nor does it mean you care about the community. In my experience the people who whine the most are the ones who post the most, and the don't care about anything but themselves. Oh, and being a jerk =! being passionate either. Spending a lot of time and working closely with the profession = passionate. Some people can't seem to clarify that fact.
So give the man a chance, he seems nice and professional.
I am sure plenty of people we have never heard of could do a great job. That really isn't the point. The point is given two people equally qualified to do this job I think the choice between someone who has been relatively uninvolved in the discussions and someone who has been involved is an easy one. That isn't what happened here. I have nothing against the new correspondant, how could I his actviity on this forum prior to his being named correspondant (silently at that) was almost non existant.
If the correspondant is supposed to represent our needs and opinions to the devs then our voice should at least be considered before a choice is made.
With that said if we are going to be just give whoever TH wants to have the position then I will of course do my best to give that person my support. I really never had any say in the matter to begin with. Just another shortcoming of the correspondant program.
Sorry guys, but ifyou dont wanthim because he hasnt posted that much then you are complaining for the wrong reason. Why? Because before I was chosen as DE correspondent I only posted a handful of times in the DE forum myself. I had the same complaints.
Now if you go to my forum and ask what the community thinks of my job and how well I represent them, I dont think you will find a single negative. In fact, if this were "real life" I imagine I good setup a nice cult compound in the jungle somewhere and feed my guys laced kool-aid. (Hehe -- just kididng guys. I love your support)
Anyhow, give him a chance. If you dont think he is doing a good job in a month then you may have a valid complaint. But realize that no matter how hard we yell at Dominoes pizza sometimes, the pizza wont get here any faster. In other words us correspondents are doing our jobs, TH is doing his job, everyone is in fact -- but the pizza wont bake any faster.
klawlenga... welcome
some people shout at a wall because they enjoy hearing themself..
some people complain because they are jellous... or just bitter
*shrug*
there allot of passionate people in this profession... opression does such to a human spirit...
congrats on getting the job, from your posts it sounds like your going to do well.
to the whiners, get over it? move on? roll with it? something? geeze....

Exactly.
I saw that Aldeon was leaving, and looked up the old, original "Calling for Correspondents" post from Q-3P0 and sent an email to [email protected] (since that was the only address I had). I sent the email in on 10/24/03. Next thing I know, we're getting a new Correspondent without any discussion in the Rifleman forum like there was on the Brawler forum.
If there was an open call for Correspondents posted in the SWG forum or something, I didn't see it because I avoid that forum like the plague. It scrolls faster than IRC, and has all the intelligence, charm and wit of a Britney Spears chat room on AOL.
Something to think about for next time, TH. Not everybody who reads the Rifleman forums reads the SWG Discussion forum. So if you want to pick a correspondent from among the folks who participate here, you might try posting the call for applicants here. Kinda like you did with the Brawlers, y'know?
We supported AA just fine and yet we still got ignored for the most part. (Warping mobs Vs a 2.5x melee damage professions still in the game?)

1.5 weeks ago, TH wrote in weekly update that he IS communicating with the people that have applied. Now im sure this never happend.
You mistake the emotion. It is apprehension, mixed with fear of the unknown. Saying we are bitter is close to insulting. I do not ever seek to be a Cor, no time and I'd refuse if asked. I'm willing to go a month this way and see. I remember a few Cor's that did NOT work out on other boards. There is presidence.

Well, first of, TH, thanks for coming here and posting this. It at least explained a bit why this particular person was choosen.
However, out big issue is not WHO got choose. It is HOW. We do not yell at klawlegna for getting the job. We yell at YOU for a non-transperant process, where you violated all estabilshed procedures. If anyone has to take it personal, it's you.
Yes, it seems you picked the one that you liked best because of his attitude, and we will have to accept that (if only for the reason that we can't change it anyway). However note, that if the devs who the community does not trust anymore put someone who is not respected or even known into this position, you can not expect a big support for him unless he shows that in addition to care about the profession for his very own playstyle and being polite and not bitter when talking to devs, he actually cares about the community. And yes, I believe him when he says about the rifleman profession itself, but he was not part of the "rifleman community" until now.
