Waaay back last December, I was tired of Master Pike/TKM/Fencer and melee in general, so I decided to try the only ranged profession that interested me, Rifleman. Since then, I've been a Rifleman/Doctor, Rifleman defense stacker, and now Rifleman/Pikeman. I'll never change this template again.

started out swg back in early aug 03, joined up with my gaming guild VtS on eclipse. didnt really have the time to play a full combat guy and i wanted to help the guild out so i went crafting, became a master artisan/architect and build most of the first player city we had that was located bout 4k from Theed. i ran 30 harvesters or so from various guildies lots and i had major trouble when i would do maintain runs and harvest runs from neighboring mobs and lairs.
so i took up rifles to help protect me some from these mobs and the reason it was rifles instead of pistols etc was at that time pistols were like the FoTM and i wanted to do something others didnt like, and noone liked rifles back then. they were considered the crappiest ranged profession with the mob warping the melee damage penalty etc.
i enjoyed my partial rifles till i tired of crafting, quit the game for a bit, came back and turned my char into a full combat player, i loved my guild's CH pets when i would go group hunting so i picked up CH and mastered both and added medic skills so i could heal myself and my pets.
its the best pve template imho, i can harvest, take down most all mobs, get loot or resources to sell, RP if i want. just works for me. will never drop rifles nor CH with my eclipse char.
i work as a doc/swords on starsider cuz i love the healing arts and swords is the best melee profession for my style of play.

I went Rifles to round out my PvP ablitys. True, most people would have gone pistols...I like the thought of hitting hard on the mind with stun damage. But mostly I did it for ranged midagation 3. I have watched melee stackers get downed really fast by ranged (because of no midagation). So I am changing my temp to round out my toon, TKM/Rifle...all other will be spice added to a good mix I belive

I've been Master Pistoleer with BH 4 pistols and Novice Commando. Ive given up the Commando to do the Rifles for the AP3. I'll use the pistols for up close work and Rifles to take on the tougher MOBs.

I picked rifles because of the way they looked (stupid I know). I initially had a character on Ahazi I was planning on making a smuggler, but after hanging out with some guys using rifles I decided to make a new character and try them out. Couldn't be happier.

I have a thing for guns
Rifles has a better damage spread & nicer implementation. Carbines dont feel very carbiney & pistols are just awful.
BHs guns look comedy & although Commandoes nice its not very SWG.
The E-11 the bocaster & the T-21 all scream SW to me.
Although having said that Im thinking of going melee

I actually first went rifleman because of roleplaying. Back in October of '03, I was a Master Fencer/Master Doctor and I suddenly found myself having a lot of fun with some hard core roleplayers Ihad meton Starsider. Unfortunately, I just couldn't find a reasonable explanation for being a melee only fighter in RP, so I decided to pick up ranged. I did all of the professions, and found that I loved rifleman the best, even though that was the pre-brandy days when you all had was muon, glazedglucose pateand the occassional mind buff to go on. Sometimes I really miss those days.

I picked up rifleman cos Ilike using the Tusken rifle from the marksman tree, I got about 3 boxes away from mastering pistoleer, and then it bored me, so I dropped it all and went rifleman.
It also fits in with me from a roleplaying perspective, I am a master artisan/master architect and I run loads of harvs, so I needed some 'protection' and good golly miss molly is a rifle good protection

I started out as a scout - wanted to explore the universe - and knew I needed the ability to defend myself. I had a CDEF pistol and decided to Master the Marksman tree. Didnt want to do rifles... saved it till last. But when I started up the rifle tree in Marksman, I really, really liked it. I had heard that Master Rifleman was a very hard grind, and that there were very few of them (true at the time). I decided I wanted to be one of the few, especially since I enjoyed rifles so much. Won't ever drop it with my current character.

Having already done pistols and carbines while I went up through bounty hunter and not a big melee player, until recently trying swordsman, I thought it I would give it a try. All I have to say is WOW!!!!. Once you get master, everything is gravy from there. Hunting specific creatures for hides, meat, etc or farming faction points, rifleman is an incredible profession. It does help that a guildmate gave me a suprise of a +13 rifle speed ca when i started. What a perfect fit in my ubese shirt.
All and all I'm very happy with my choice. I did like carbineer also but didnt like the speed of it unless you have the bh carbine tree with it. Also having an alt that is a master weaponsmith makes things easy for my weaponneeds.

Ranged classes have always appealed to me so naturallyI picked up marksman and tried out each of the different lines to see what I liked. Much like Wayne I'm also an avid adventurer and found myself on the back end of many planets and wondering around from place to place. During my grind through marksman and on the way to master I found that I enjoyed the rifle tree the best and from there I chose to do the long hard grind for Master Rifleman. During the time I picked up parts of Smuggler (fein death was great for warping mobs), Squad Leader (found that as a rifleman I could incap myself using volley fire, steady aim, flushing shot all while wearing a helmet [pre-buffs]) and later picked up Ranger since it was another profession that appealed to me.
Out of aggravation and disgust of both the combat system post 1-1-04 and the fact that Ranger is borked for pulling resources along with other features I went against my better judgment and started stacking. Through the whole time I was picking up and dropping professions the only one I could never come to drop is Rifleman asthis is where my heart is. I dislike melee fighting as ranged professions and weapons do a much more efficient job for the most part aside from that melee professions just don't look right being an Imperial in ST armor. Recently I've dropped the stacking and started back to the second profession to which I sacrificed for templating and that's Ranger though this time I'll run Master Marksman / Master Rifleman and Ranger 0/0/3/0 for better harvest and creature track.
