I was just trying to master professions for the badges while waiting for JTL, at that time I was just coming off of MBH (that prof was a huge disapointment for me) so I still had Master Marksman, the plan was to master rifles, then carbines, then pistols...I got through master rifleman and never bothered w/ the others. I absolutely loved it, the most fun I had had in the game (and still). I've been master Rifleman for well over 6 months now and can't imagine dropping it.

There are many advantages to Rifles that far out number the drawbacks. I did pick up a melee prof. to augment rifles(pikeman) to help me out of the 'tight' situations I get myself into.

I was originally working toward master pistol/master smugg, but hated looking for frickin' locked containers to slice to improve that particular skill, and being the cheap sob that I am :: quickly gave it up. After remembering how much I enjoyed playing a hunter In DAoC using a bow and pet, I chose to go the route of CH/rifleman, figuring that a) this is the future, who but a jedi would bring a knife to a gunfight and b) it just seemed like a good idea to let my pet beat on stuff while I sniped away. Haven 't looked back since!

I was originally a BE/CH/pistoleer (0040). I was more or less happy with my combat level. I then dropped those to go architect...and the gubburs conned yellow. But being a Wookiee, I had my trusty bowcaster. I finally got anoyed with my inability to fight anything, so I started picking up rifles to be able to use the bowcaster better and snipe creatures with unwanted DNA.

Well, I remember picking up rifle early when SWG first came out and we were all trying out the various professions to see what we liked. I ended doing CH as well... then picked up Swordsman and found myself loving the swordsman profession. I worked up rifle to 2,0,0,4 so I could take advantage of having a ranged mind damage to compliment my sword. I'm now MSword/MBrawler and really want to get to MRifle.I like the idea ofdealing some nice damage at both ranged and melee. As a wookiee, I've thought about just using my bowcaster for ranged and at one pointI dropped my rifle skills. Silly me. I'm glad I recovered in time. That's my current grind- haven't had time to play much lately but I'll be hitting dantooine tonight.

Well, I knew I wanted to be Imperial before I ever started in SWG, so when the character creation screen asked what class I wanted to be, I thought "Well, marksman seems like the best place for an aspiring stormtrooper to start." And so started what I was later told was called a "grind". I'd lay prone, take aim with my trusty cdef rifle, fire off a few shots, stand up and blast whatever creature it was that got close with my pistol. Took at least 1 incap per sevorrt lair, and I had to retreat to wherever the random stormies were quite a few times, but I loved every minute of it.

Then came the day when I saw it... I was 4413 in marksman and debating whether to go for pistols or rifles, and I walked into a house with a vender and saw a thing of unsurpasses beauty. I swore it was a starfighter cannon modifed for personal use. I wondered "Where's the tripod? No man could handle such a weapon alone?". It was a T-21, 198 to 486, price tag 400k. I did missions tirelessly until I could afford it... used it even though I wasn't yet qualified for it, and still loved it.

And so I went for novice rifleman and eventually left my pistol skills behind. Went up the sniper tree, added some medic and eventually doc so that I could hunt anyting unaided. Was only the third master rifleman I had ever seen, and have had it for nearly a year. Also mastered doc and have gained no new professions since.

Even though I can get smacked around if I'm careless enough to let high level mob's or ub3r-1337 melee stackers into close range, I have never wanted to drop rifleman for anything. Between this character and some dabbling I have done on other servers, I have tried all combat classes except for commando and bh, and none have brought me the satisfaction that rifleman has. Even if the CU/R/B forces me to fire slower than I have since marksman days and kills kiting... even if mind damage no longer rules pvp... even if everyone else becomes an 85% saber blocking glowstick grinder... I will always be a rifleman.

I started SWG wanting to become a Bounty Hunter but when I rose in the ranks of Marksman I really enjoyed the style of play that I had to use with rifles compared to Pistols or Carbines. When I looked at the BH skill tree rifles weren't used so I decided to go for the specialty of a Master Rifleman. I've been a Rifleman since I began playing the game and I'm not planning on dropping it...maybe depending on the CU (let's see what happens).

Well, I'd like to post some grand reason, but I can't.......lol. I looted a rifle in the newbie tutorial and decided my Mon Cal looked sweet carrying it..........lol.

back in the day nobody knew how anything worked.
It was all speculation and we quoted printed strategy guides on a regular basis.
I had this crazy idea of being the lone player in a multiplayer universe and went Master Ranger/ Master Rifleman. This was a heck of a lot of fun and I did get to play sniper alot. I still remember the day I soloed a NS elder using camo, cover, and conceal shot. I hadn't even mastered rifleman yet. (I wasn't totally insane. I had my pokema... er.. CH/TK friend there as back up) AAHHH.. the days when spice ruled the world.

Well, I finally realized that ranger was fun and all but pretty useless except for making money. See, buffs and armor finally took off so there was no reason for anyone to sneak anywhere. I could occasionally get hired to track things, but doing S-curves in a landspeeder was more effective, and then they took away the camp requirement to heal or call bikes or pets. SO I dropped Ranger, grinded a holo profession or two then settled on Master Commando.
SO now I am a Master Rifleman/Master Commando and the only damage I am missing is kinetic and I terrible melee defenses.
But I can kill just about anything solo, and only need a tank for the really big stuff.
I stopped PvPing when rifles became the FOTM (just before fencer I beleive). THis was during the "biolgical wars" we are all so fond of.

I no longer have to snipe thanks to buffs, food, armor and strafe shot 2. I can kill it all before it even gets to me, and if by some cahnce it does close in, I have a nice warm present for the little guy. I still love Rifleman and feel it is one of the better balanced professions in the game. Now if only commando worked as well.
