I think they're picking names from a hat.
Neither of the two weaponsmith correspondents were contributors before being correspondent. The first one was completely useless and disappeared after a month with no notice, the second one (who was appointed over a month after first one quit) was actually quite good, but he quit last week and we haven't got a new one yet.
Several other professions have received useless correspondents - the bio-eng correspondent wasn't even a bio-eng and some of them are mind-bogglingly stupid.
Well that....sucks.
TH has been going on about the correspondentsystem quite a lot recently, I would have thought he would have taken the time to check the respective forums.
I guess that's asking for too much, which is a shame because I was starting to believe they really were trying to make the correspondent system more than just a title and scapegoat, stupid of me I know. ![]()
I for one am very disappointed. ![]()
We could NOT have done better than VolstedGridban or Seflyn.
Klawlegna... please post and tell us something about yourself and why you WILL make good correspondent.

Don't sell yerself short, Chief. I think YOU would also make an outstanding correspondent. You're articulate, reasonable, and intelligent, and you've made some excellent contributions to this forum.

There are any number of people who post here frequently, who have made well thought out, well articulated posts who would have been great choices for Correspondant. I am not suggesting that our new correspondant can't do the job but so far in this forum there is no evidence that he has the abilites that most of us believe are necessary for the position. I hope he surprises us and I"ll give him all the support I can of course for the sake of our profession. But the way this has been handled doesn't inspire confidence.

Yep. You're another one that would make a good correspondent.
I just don't understand why TH didn't made a thread in rifleman forum and asked people to apply like other professions.
The guy has made 17 posts in rifleman forum, most of them are less than6-7 words. If they are after some harmless correspondents, theybetter just cancel the program instead.

SilverLobo who did AA want to become correspondent?
I'm guessing by Silver's mood that AA suggested Silverlobo.
My left brain's #1 pick was Volsted, but my right brain's #1 pick was Silver.
Come on, wouldn't that be hilarious to have Silverlobo as the correspondent?
Memberof Another Profession Trying to get Riflemen Nerfed (MAPTRN):" Omg! Rifles are too powerful! Take away mind damage!"
Newly Elected Correspondent SilverLobo:" No, Riflemen are just fine how they are. Mind damage is legitimate and necessary."
MAPTRN:" Is not! I got killed by 3 riflemen once when I had 200 mind! Unfair!"
*SilverLobo writes 9 paragraphs about how theMAPTRN is a drain on his own class and his very existence is a waste of oxygen *
MAPTRN (crying): "Mommy!"
No one would mess with riflemen EVER! ![]()
I dont understand how so many of you can be so quick to judge our new correspondent. Give him a chance!! I could not care less how many posts he has made or how well he is known to any of you. All that matters is that he can do the job.
Has it accured to anyone that the developers may actually pick a correspondent they can work with. A huge part of working as a team is actually liking the people you work with. I read TH's post on the process he went through with SOE and it seems like he had to meet with much of the staff before his hiring.
While Volsted has made many GREAT posts and has plenty of awesomeideas, itdoes not override the negative attitude he seems to have of SOE and the DEV's. Of course this is a feeling that shared bya large number of people on these forums but such an attitude will not make you friends with the DEV's.
I have had to hire people for tech jobs and talent is only part equation, if you cant work in a POSITIVE manner in a team effort you are no use to most companies.
I'll give him a week to settle in and then make my assesment.
-But hey we have a right to be nervous.
Look at the way the Dev's treated Aldeon, infact look how the Dev's treated all their correspondents.
All of em started out postive "Oh guys get of the dev's backs, their doing a hard job"
And thenall of em turned to this "They don't listen to us, they don't communicate to us."
I can't trust the Dev's again till they earn my trust, they've burned us too many times. This selection is highly questionable in my mind because he has comented on 0 things on this board for a month and few things in his total time on this forum.
I have nothing against the new guy, but I aint going to follow him unquestionly either, I just don't know him well enough.
CaLVInes, I agree with a large portion of what you said. ThunderHeart is a paid SOE employee who's job is to communicate with the forums buti disagree that Klawalegna himself should explain his appointment.
Who here has ever had to explain in writingto fellow job seekers why they got the job and they others did not?
I do not demand this explanation from him. Though I do not think he will get any support to get the job done productive if so many people have negative feelings about this. I think it would be in his own interest to explain this.
On the other hand, I do demand an explanation from TH. And strangely enough, since TH won't talk to me, I, as a rifleman, go to my Rifleman correspondant and ask him to get a statement from TH about this very issue. I think it would be just easier if Klawlegna commented on this personally.
Also, it might very well be the fact that Klawlegna does not even know why and how he got the job. But even then, it would not hurt if he told us. Other than everyone repeating what has been stated in this forum for weeks, the process of getting a new correspondant is the only and most important topic on this board. You would think that the person that is directly concerned wiht this would take his time to give at least a statement about this, even if it's just "no comment".
Boy people here are a tough crowd. Klawlegnahas barelybeen here a day and already you guys are wishing you had someone else. Let me tell you what I know of him. He's an awsome rollplayer, he's been doing it for years. He has been a Master Rifleman for months now. He is an outstanding PVPer. He is well known on the Kettemoor server, by both factions. He has done alot of good thinks to help other Rifleman on that server. He knows this profession very well, as he been Rifelman from the begining.
As for why TH picked a person who doesn't post here often, I would say based on his experience with Rifleman and conserns expressed to the devs (posting here in not the only way to communicate). I think you guys are being overly judgemental of a person you have no info on.
As for why some of the people you mentioned didn't get picked, I would say by reading the older post, it'sthe way some people act. I would suggest, for future reference, that you cut down on the whining and inmaturity and stick with the issues ( now don't get me wrong, some of you had some really good posts).
As for Klawlegna I think they picked the perfect person for the job, and hope you guys will be a little less judgemental. He will be a great help to all of you.
