Thread: A New Hope: No Major Nerf?

rugbyman, you didnt miss anything. Everyone is expecting a nerf in publish 8, it was hinted at from the dev i believe but nothing as to the extent of the nerf are official. So right now it's just a bunch of rumers and a lot of people are expecting to quit over rumers. That's why i suggest you hold out all opinions till publish 8 notes come out and read the reports on the test center before quiting. Personally I would love the dev post and be straight forward with us and explain what we can expect in the future.

Just to point something out. I am a master rifleman and it is time to know that we are overpowered. We should try to work for a counter balance to make sure our profession is not nerfed into nothingness. As for calling everyone who cries nerf in these forums a troll, well they kind of are, but the shear amount of them coming here doesn't mean we are underpowered.

We are NOT overpowered! At first glance it looks that way, but if you look deeper it's the fact that rifleman is actually "working as intended" (well, except for block......lol).
Our specials all work like they are supposed to (well, except surprise shot)and the HAM costs balance nicely with the output.

with buffs and brandy I spam whatever specials I want for almost no ham cost, do far more damage per second than any other class in the game, and for some reason I am neigh on un-hittable by melee classes.
okay, MAYBE the damage isn't overpowered. but certianly the melee thing is borked. equiping a rifle makes it HARDER for you to get hit in melee. that's not how it's supposed to be. I don't like the speed cap, but the melee thing has to be fixed.

Yea the damage is fine and the speed cap will ruin the proffesion, firing on somone fully buffed with brandy and muon you need the speed to actually have a small chance specially if the they have a stun helm. The melee damage is dumb and should be fixed so we are easier to hit at melee

i am currently carbineer, i was going to do rifleman but a little blue box changed my mind
from what i can see rifleman does not need a major nerf, but they do need a speed and melee defense reduction, the ranged defense is fine as riflemen should be the leaders in ranged defense, also have all weapons cap the same speed is just plain dumb, sure at lower levels a pistol fires at a much faster speed than a rifle, but that should still be true at the master levels, granted both will be firing much faster. giving riflemen so much speed and keeping their cap at the same level while making their weapons high damage/stun damage/AP3 is just overdoing it,
just a suggestion, but pistol speed should cap at 1.0, carbines at 1.5, and rifles at 2.0

IMO, the Rifleman class itself is NOT overpowered or uber at all. What makes it powerful is food, drink, spice, buffs, armor, insane weapons ... any combination of these things that are also readily available to EVERY OTHER PROFESSION!!!!!!!!!
We have next to none defensively. Our Block doesnt work. We get penalized using our best weapons close range. And now in pub7 melee folks will get a 'to-hit' bonus when facing a ranged weapon wielder.
I dont see how they could nerf us, AGAIN, in pub8 when the combat revamp is supposed to go in. Why lower the bar for all professions, and THEN nerf rifleman? That would make us subpar, again. Doesnt make sense.
Ahwell, i can dream eh. Been Rifleman 2weeks after launch, and im not gonna change!!!

Speaking of overpowered, the caribeeners are getting all of their specials fixed. What does that mean? It means they have Area dizzy+area kd. They also have a suppression fire built in as well as their single dizzy and single kd attack. That sound extremely overpowered if you ask me. All we can do is dizzy the person and then use suppression fire if we have the fourth tier in marksman. We need to stay the way we are just so we have a prayer against all their attacks. The melee defense is getting fixed by the way.

i hate this damn idea about a speed cap, there shouldnt be a cap except the 1 second cap there is now. If they want to slow us down take away some of our speed bonus lower us from +90/95 to +70/75. I could live with that but a hard cap is just plan stupid. I mean incorporating a new speed cap would probably require a lot of coding, all they need to do is left it how it is can change our speed bonus modifier instead. Dont get me wrong i dont want a speed reduction at all but just rather see a speed mod decrease then a hard cap.

I think changes are inevitable for rifles with speed, point blank accuracy and accuracy whilst moving all being modified. The cap's going to affect my ranged toon as he'll be subject to a 2 second cap now with carbs and as much as I hate the thought of it, it does make sense I guess - rifles and carbs shouldn't be faster than pistols.

The speed cap is more to do with aiming then anything else, yeah every gun can be shot as fast as you pull your trigger, but ever try to aim a rifle running away from a target shooting over your shoulder?
