Thread: Riflemen: I need a new 19 Questions question from you

Players recently learned that the developers plan to experiment with removing the ability of Ranged professions to fire through terrain (though this could place too great a strain on the server hardware). One could argue that this affects Riflemen more than any other profession, so it has raised some eyebrows. What was the rationale behind the decision, and how closely will it be monitored from a balance standpoint?
Sound good? Anything you want changed?
I will also be also including your planned question, should Thunderheart decide to answer it instead.
I'll go with that too as there is nothing else I can think of that wont get the "Wait for the C.B" answer
.
It's too bad we cant get any info on the changes to our Prof in the C.B but I guess its because none of it is written in stone as yet so that would make it a little hard to release with any certainty on delivery.
Cheers Randonb.

Acer, I agree that is a very important issue, but my feeling on it is that if the LOS changes don't work for us, it will be so detrimental to our profession(and likely many others) that it will either be fixed very quickly or the changes will be taken out and put on hold until they do work properly. I don't think itwill be more complicated than that.
They don't seem to fix things like this, they just delay them and hope everyone's forgotten about it before trying to push them again, unchanged.
The LOS wason TCmonths ago, it sucked and was pulled after a few days. Now it's back and it still sucks, but they don't seem to be doing anything to fix it.
The crafting thing was on TC a really long time ago, everyone hated it and they cancelled it, but only after trying really really hard to justify it (EXPERIMENTATION IS BROKEN! THIS NEW, BUG-FILLED UNBALANCEDSYSTEM IMPLEMENTS A FRAMEWORK THAT MIGHT LET US FIX EXPERIMENTATION IN THE FUTURE). Thenthey brought itback, deleted all the anti posts in the feedback thread, and broke the economy by pushing it to live for a day when they knew it was buggy and would result in items having much better stats than they're supposed to. Next time they'll probably completely ignore player feedback and update to the exact same broken system they had last time.

Sent it off. As promised, I also included your preferred question.

There is one question I can think of, but its probably a weaponsmith thing. When are they going to fix it so everyone can see the stock on a t21 and other rifles? Its not very critical to get this fixed, but it would look much better with a stock.

Klaw hasn't been around in about a week, and it's that time again. I saw the question you have stickied, but Thunderheart wants us to be merciful this week and ask some less challenging questions. The team is overworked with jedi stuff and isn't available to help him answer the Really Big Questions, such as the one you have prepared. It looks good, but it just won't work for this week.
Are there any questions that would be easier for him to answer this week that I can pass on? I'll be reviewing your question thread stickied at the top, but when I skimmed it earlier there didn't seem to be a lot of other questions suggested. I'd like to getthis done today so TH can get to work on answering it.
Thanks!
How about asking for a comment with regard to DPS andcombat balance for Riflemen? It sounds like the gossip from fan fest says Riflemen with large guns will be slow moving and slow shooting, even at master. The scenario I'm thinking about is afight with a melee player with small (or no) weapons running right at you. The RM maybe gets off a couple of shots, but once the other player catches you (slow RM with his big gun), you don't have a chance. With my Doc/RM template, I'm at 0000 scout. I don't imagine I'll be very fast. ![]()
MRM vs. TKM at close range --> TKM should not have a problem.
MRM vs. TKM at long range --> TKM should not know what hit him.
