Thread: Riflemen: I need a new 19 Questions question from you

Klaw hasn't been around in about a week, and it's that time again. I saw the question you have stickied, but Thunderheart wants us to be merciful this week and ask some less challenging questions. The team is overworked with jedi stuff and isn't available to help him answer the Really Big Questions, such as the one you have prepared. It looks good, but it just won't work for this week.

Are there any questions that would be easier for him to answer this week that I can pass on? I'll be reviewing your question thread stickied at the top, but when I skimmed it earlier there didn't seem to be a lot of other questions suggested. I'd like to getthis done today so TH can get to work on answering it.

Thanks!

Heya RandonB! Thanks for coming to help take care of us

Of course you should be able to guess which question I want to go with. We've been working on it for some time now and despite the stickied questions 'bigness' in terms of importance, I think it is relatively straightforward and not really asking for much in terms of an answer.

What I did was go through our (very)old 'Top 10 questions for the Devs' thread and see what had already been answered or fixed since we put that list together. After eliminating a few in that manner, I was able to more-or-less consolidate the remaining questions into the 'big' one we have now.

That '10 Questions' thread can be found here.

Aside from going with the one we have composed, the only remaining question is the one regarding Wookiee Bowcasters which will likely(unfortunately for Wookiees) get the 'wait for CB' answer (which we all dread ).

If the sticked question absolutely will not work, we can likely throw something together. I imagine the questions are due quite soon. Do you have a specific date? Thanks!

At the ranged panel at Fan Fest, somebody asked Keldarin about the wookiee bowcaster. He gave the stock answer we've heard before, that the weapon is certed for every wookiee regardless of level, so it isn't very powerful. They didn't want wookiee Marksmen flying through the skill tree. I think they would love to work something out in the futurethough, I mean, what's a wookiee without a bowcaster?

Are you sure you want to risk getting that same answer? I think a lot of riflemen have heard it before.

Sorry about the time crunch, TH just posted that he still needs a question from you guys and I volunteered. I'm trying to find out if he absolutely needs it today, but lets assume he does.

NOOO not wookie bowcaster question, that would be a waste. I think we should ask something about the new weapons. NO wait, ask about SEAs and when they are fixing the ones that don't work, the ones with two mods on them, and not being able to put two of the same kind of SEA on one piece of clothing.

I sure didn't hear about that answer. Thanks for sharing. I'm sure this can be taken care of with one or two more variations of the Bowcaster, but I think now is not the proper time to be concerned with that.

You mean if we ask the Bowcaster question? Hehe, no way! I was mainly pointing it out to illustrate our lack of another question to ask if we can't use the one we've been working on

Sorry about the time crunch, TH just posted that he still needs a question from you guys and I volunteered. I'm trying to find out if he absolutely needs it today, but lets assume he does. No problem- time is always an issue. I appreciate your volunteering. Assuming TH needs something today, I think it's gonna be nigh impossible to come up with another decent question. If the one we have is asking for too much(which Ihonestly don't think it is), I'm sure its answer will reflect that and we can ask for clarification, if neccessary, later on.

And if it helps everyone feel better about asking this question, we sure took it easy on him and the Devs with our last question so feel free to pass that along

Though I am open to hearing new suggestions from the community for the 5 or so hours we have to work this out.

I would love to hear about the future of the SEAs, but that question isn't very 'Rifleman'. Maybe the Core Systems folks can be talked into asking it for us though

Here's my question proposal:

"The community is very concerned about upcoming Line of Sight (LOS) changes. Since we're forced to engage at longer ranges than any other profession, LOS issues are all the more critical to us.

Are the Dev's sensitive to this issue, what can be done to improve LOS calculations, and when can we expect that change?"

ok, so it's three questions....

How about something very general? Like what do the devs consider a balanced system. A rock paper scissors one? One based solely on range? Are there any other roles the 3 ranged elite professions fit in other than "small-medium-long" range and "fast-medium-slow"? Do they feel that DPS has to be equal in a balanced system?

isnt that one more likely to make them break down and cry pysco?

didnt they state they wanted to make us more sniper orientated? (no i dont agree with it that proposal due to nature of SWG combat - and yes i have seen my sig ). Couldnt we ask how they intend to do that?

they wont increase our range... make it possible to 1 shot people... or give a stealth aspect to the class.. im kinda intreigued as what they feel our role in combat will be.

Players recently learned that the developers plan to experiment with removing the ability of Ranged professions to fire through terrain (though this could place too great a strain on the server hardware). One could argue that this affects Riflemen more than any other profession, so it has raised some eyebrows. What was the rationale behind the decision, and how closely will it be monitored from a balance standpoint?

Sound good? Anything you want changed?

I will also be also including your planned question, should Thunderheart decide to answer it instead.

EDIT: added color

Hey guys, I'm kind of new to this forum so please treat me like a totall blobbering fool if you would like... I probably am. I have a question that regards to existing weapons. What will happen to their stats after revamp? Will they be changed or will they be considered "Prevamp Weapons"

I have no idea and I would like that answered as well. I think all the questions here are good ones, I would like those answers too. My BIG concern is this, with the cobat rebalance I have heard that they will be slowing the Rifleman speed so that we can no longer hit the speed cap with our slowest special. I don't know if this is just rumor or is to be implemented, but it frigthens me. Enough so that I have decided to hold of on buying the +7 rifle speed tapes I currently need to hit the cap. If such a nerf comes it would seem I would have wasted 2M+ creds. So my question is, will rifleman attacks be slowed or the speed cap changed such that rifleman cannot hit the current speed cap with our best special, and will this inturn cause rifle speed tapes to be worthless?
