I've not kept up with this issue, but if the combat classes are supposed to be brought into balance, does that mean they shouldeither make mind easily healable or have our specials come from a different pool? Lowering our damage/speed would unbalance us horribly if we Mind stays the way it is. I would ask this as the next question (if it comes around before the balance).

Here's a question: if riflemen are supposed to be skilled at keeping range, and have no melee damage mitigation in the rifleman tree, then why don't we have either a weapon or a special with a knockback/knockdown effect to keep our enemies out of arm's reach?

I've tried the dizzy/lower posture combo on all kinds of mobs, too, and for one thing: it's only ever worked on animals for me. For another: even on most animals, it still doesn't produce a knockdown, they just kneel for a split second(ala posture change, as if the dizzy effect wasn't even there) and that's the end of it.

We really need some *working* status effects if we're expected to play strategically.

Hmm... I smell a conspiracy! So it's true we'll be on equal damage levels as Pistoleers.

Actually my first question is has Waste93 put in for the correspondent position yet? He'd fit the bill and has done an outstanding job at being a replacement if we need one.

A quick list of 19 issues with rifleman would be:

  1. With the proposed changes to movement speed while carrying heavier weapons, delay in weapon change time and a possible high drop in accuracy in rifleman's while in any position aside from prone, are there any proposals for getting some sort of engagement bonus? Maybe allowing master rifleman who are overt not to show up on radar under 64m to allow us some sort of preparation time?

  2. With the proposed changes in our profession, will skill enhancement tapes and plates still be a viable source to help improve our chances during combat?

  3. What defenses if any will rifleman and masters get if any to help counter the negatives of going prone during combat and much more so in PvP? It takes many players under 3 seconds to close a 64m distance in game and much less if you're force running. Our main concern is that melee classes will tear us up in less than 2 seconds and especially so with melee lunge 2 which allows players to melee attack from 20m out.

  4. One thing that many players will be happy to hear will be the LOS resolution. I for one never liked the idea that I could fire through mountains to kill targets on the other side. Also, I'd always wanted to take cover or setup my position in low spots on the ground as to better conceal my position during combat. Foreseeable, using Take Cover while on flat ground I should have the best chances at concealing my position from my target. The only concern about this is am I going to have to worry about a terrain bump of more than 1m block my line of sight while the target that I'm aiming at will be higher and at a greater angle than the 1m bump?

  5. As rifleman we have defense against posture change up which means we're harder for players to change our position from kneeling or prone to standing or kneeling. Currently if a smuggler shoots us with low blow while we're on the ground and taking cover our character ends up on their back from the shot. In reality there is no way a player could shot the crotch of our toon while we're laying on the ground face to face with our attacker. Is there going to be any added defense to prevent KD attacks from knocking us out of our prone state?

  6. Surprise shot has been broke since the beginning and startle shot does the same as flushing shot though flushing shot covers two status changes. We enjoy the benefit of having a dual status changing shot and feel as though we should to help counter rushing mobs. Are there any plans to fix surprise shot and are there plans on dumping startle shot for a different shot. Basically there is no need to repeat a shot that we currently have.

  7. On the issue of new shots, are there any plans for rifleman to get some sort of knock down shot to help slow potential rushers? If we are made to be slower in movement while carrying rifles we'll need to be able to slow down our opponents if we're not going to let them kill us.

  8. We're all happy that we're allowed various types of damage weapons along with the benefit of having AP0 through AP3 damage with our rifles. Many of us have expressed in the past that such rifles as the Tusken rifle and Spray Stick originally dealt out different damage then they currently do now. Granted, it would seem as some sort of favoritism towards one class to offer most of the damage types in game though if you look at the damage output along with the AP rating these changes would have little if any effect in their us in PvP. It's been stated before that the vast majority of players in game spend their time doing PvE quests, missions and other remedial tasks so damage types for classes along with supporting weapons only adds to not only the atmosphere of the game but also the ability for us to survive better. Would there be any chance to get both the Tusken rifle and the Spray stick to fire their correct damage type?

  9. While speaking of PvE this brings up a major concern for rifleman and basically all classes. How much of the new combat system changes will be parallel to PvE and PvP? Our biggest issue on this matter is it's fine to limit our speed, damage, mobility and other changes for PvP but in PvE we're dead if we cannot get out enough damage done to the creature/npc.

  10. Once again adding in the prone proposal along with the speed and mobility issue in PvE another concern arises. Back months ago when rifleman took 2.5x melee damage and had to deal with warping mobs, many of us who experienced that do not want to see this happen again. Granted, the 2.5x melee modifier isn't coming back and the warping mobs are pretty much non-existent the real question / worry comes about holding back the creature / npc. Sure we can use conceal shot but when that breaks they will run towards us. Once again the distance of 64m can be closed in under 3 seconds leaving the rifleman on the ground, with a rifle in hand, time delay weapon changes and not able to shoot at point blank range.

Now I know the prone / ranged weapon problem goes for all ranged classes except Pistoleers are allowed a pistol melee defense to help defend themselves against the attacker. Would there be any way to allow the other ranged classes access to some sort of melee move to allow us the needed time to shove the attack off of us so that we may either change weapons and / or increase the gap so that we can continue attacking them?

  11. Under the new proposed Jedi revamp and with the new combat system on the horizon, how will FS abilities interact with combat skills from rifleman or any other class?

  12. It's been mentioned that all weapons are going to get revamped to help all damage fall in line with each class of weapon. Basically this means that all laser rifles will fire for a set spread of min/max damage as well as any other combat weapon in game both ranged and melee. Will this affect pre-nerfed weapons, all weapons made after a certain date, or all weapons regardless of manufacture time? If so have the developers determined any set ranges for each weapon?

  13. This question comes up time and time again yet will be even more important now than it ever has been. Under our class we're listed as both support gunners and snipers. Granted being a game there isn't really any way we could effectively perform either job as it would require us to have longer engagement distances nor is anybody allowed to fire faster than one shot per second. With this in mind are there any proposals to change and / or modify our profession to focus in on one part more than the other?

  14. Being that the new proposed system will possibly make us go prone and expect us to fend for ourselves while attacking groups rush us, is there any chance for us to get some sort of area suppression to either dole out more damage or to help slow down / posture change rushing groups?

  15. I can't recall the thread where it was listed but one of the devs made the comment that we'd be required to lay prone to do well in combat. The statement went on to say that if we were prone that we'd become more powerful than what we are while standing and moving. What changes if any are proposed to allow us to become "more powerful" while lying down?

  16. **this space for rent**

  17. **this space for rent**

  18. It's been suggested in that pistoleers get holsters for their weapons as a way to not only carry their pistols but enhancing the feel of the game. Also, it's been suggest that swordsman and fencers get the same sort of option to holster their weapons. Would it be possible for carbines, rifles, and any other large size weapon to have a sling attached to it and have the ability to hang the weapon off our characters shoulder?

  19. A rifleman is made up of two things, the weapon itself and the person who uses it. Currently the new rifles that have been added to the game (DXR-6b and the Berserker) both have stocks attacked to their image. These stocks and scope are visible to other players though not always required for the schematic itself. The infamous T-21 that we all know and love seeing in ANH had a stock on it yet ours looks as though they have been either melted away or hacked off gangland style for easy concealment. Even though this isn't a game breaking issue, is there any way we could get the graphics added for the stock to be visible on both the T-21 and the Laser Rifle? (currently only the person who has the weapon equipped can see the stock and/or scope on weapons)

I realize that some of this might have been repetitive or just basic rambling but some of these issues should at least be looked at. The last few questions were more or less eye-candy or added perks which would just be nice to see in game at some point. I ran out of questions by the **space for rent** entries so these could be filled in with other issues.

Klaw hasn't been around in about a week, and it's that time again. I saw the question you have stickied, but Thunderheart wants us to be merciful this week and ask some less challenging questions. The team is overworked with jedi stuff and isn't available to help him answer the Really Big Questions, such as the one you have prepared. It looks good, but it just won't work for this week.

Are there any questions that would be easier for him to answer this week that I can pass on? I'll be reviewing your question thread stickied at the top, but when I skimmed it earlier there didn't seem to be a lot of other questions suggested. I'd like to getthis done today so TH can get to work on answering it.

Thanks!

I think we should just ask the question that Kezia has worked so hard on for weeks. It's a followup to a prior question that was asked and it's about a clarification of a statement they made that is probably unworkable.

It's a great and legitimate concern that Riflemen have about the direction our profession is heading.

Other than that asking TH to post on the Rifleman's board about the status of the correspondents position would be nice, though that shouldn't be our question but something that should have been done already.

Thanx for looking out for us. But I hope you don't have to pull double duty for to long.

Thanks Waste. I definitely think they need to answer it now that they've delayed them for another week. It can't be that hard to answer

klaw has completely stopped posting last I checked, so I hope he and TH got some sort of plan worked out. Other Correspondent openings have been posted shortly after needing them. We have yet to see TH come in and let us know what's up.

If you're still around randonb, maybe you could ask TH to stop by real quick? There are lots of great guys here that would make a fantastic Correspondent- they just have to be given the chance to apply...
