Thread: What's the problem?
Thanks for proving my point, Jym.
"Not going to get another shot off, eh? Are you master? Have you seen how fast we shoot? I'll get another shot off and with 110? to accuracy....chances are I'll hit."
At master you shoot very fast. If your not master you don't. If you're master and you miss (even with the big bonuses to accuracy and aiming) you hardly notice it. If you're novice and you miss, you're dead.
Right now it takes aboutfour MS3's for me to kill an unarmored someone with a decent sized mind pool. Each shot takes around six seconds (I'm 2/2/1/1). This means it takes me 24 seconds to kill someone with a mind pool of, say, 800-900. If the battle starts at 70m, and they aren't a BH, and I don't miss it can be done. That's the point. We need accuracy to be distributed down the tree some. I believe the TC changes are doing that, but untill then...
No the Target was not AFK. If you have read any post from any Master you would have realised that those 4-5 shots will happen in 4-5 seconds. hmmm actuallymine was probably was around 6-7 seconds to do that.

4-5 HS2s and its all over? Only 4-5 HS2s? Wow. Was the target AFK?
SilverLobo lol...yep, so we get owned by pets, thats our limitation. You say each class has it's limitation.. please tell me what the advantages of rifleman is, and the limitations of BHs and CHs?
And if you're saying that rifleman are better than CHs/Commandos/BHs in PvP... then I think you're the one off base. Or you only PvP in groups where you outnumber the enemy and you never really get owned. Or you don't really PvP at all, and the last time you PvPed was 2 months ago when damage in PvP was at 100% so you could one or two shot people withheadshotsand commandos still sucked.
Personally I don't find myself to be that good. 1 on 1 my battles usually last 10 -15 seconds. The longest I have had was 2mins and I lost
.
While we may miss I like to keep the distance. Do not just stand there to shoot and let them close the gap. Keep moving. Granted you may miss but so will they. Use buildings. Place a bleed and run around and between buildings. Let them act as a shield for you.
While we have strafe shot I don't use it that often. 9 out of 10 people carry Stims now so it is not as effective as it could be. At the end of the day we would have done more damage to our minds then we have inflicted. I continue to work the mind with HS2.
Finally use musician buffs. with them you can be fully decked out in armour and not incumbered.
Oh yeah. I forgot to add. Do not fight on their terms. Fight on yours.
Do not allow yourselves to be suckered into an ambush. If you see a Red with some blue around don't shoot. if you see more than 1 don't shoot. Don't be afraid to run away if it gets too bad. If you see the odds turning away from you, burst run away. Discretion is the better part of valour.Bide your time for a better opportunity.
I will rarely engage when there are more than one and only one of me. Most of my kills are between Bestine and Anchorhead where the Imps run. I will Ambush and then disappear again. I am a ranger and I have track. I can pinpoint who is in a group and who is by themselves.
Like a wolf I will pick the weak and select them for slaughter (Maybe I am going to far now)
And then if a CH sicks a guerreck on them they're still screwed
No, you are screwed seeing that some of us understand that their is limitations to every profession we build our template to limit this limitations. Being a Master TKA pets are not a issue for me.
BHs/CHs/Commandosare blasting through PvE with ease (unlike riflemen) and can still own you without being masters
Again they own YOU, dont try to tell me what I know is false from months of PvP. You have spent those same months complaining on this board while I have enjoyed my success in PvP.
HARPOON again you try to place the blame for you bad performance in PvP on the profession, sorry to say but you are way off base.
no.. even if you run out of their optimum range and dont let them close on you, they'll still hit 9/10 times. No other class except rifleman has to bleed and run, hide behind buildings, etc... they just kil the person right away.

Harpoon if you really believe what you are saying why are you still a rifleman? If it really sucks so bad, why stick with it?
The crap about being done when you master is silly. I mastered 2 monthsago and am out PvE hunting with friends several times a week. It is a blast. There are also all those other skill points you can do so much with. It is not over at master, the fun is just begining. It is more fun when you are not concerned with how much exp you get per kill but are just having fun. (try playing "how many with one shot") (amaze your friends with how fast the hides stack up)
In duels, riflemen without other skills are at a disadvantage from many other professions. If this is what you mean by PvP it is an entirly different thing. In PvP (groups) we are very competitive. You asked what advantages we have, well here goes:
Massive Area of Effect damage ability at any range.
AOE dizzy and stun.
Stacked mind bleeds in 3.5 seconds from any range.
Thehighest AP weapon in the game.
The ability to DB from range.
Headshot with a stun weapon at long range.
The ability to master one other skill and dabble in an additional skill at master.
Is that enough? Yes we have disadvantiges. But like many of the other posters, I am far from gimped in PvP. Incapping entire enemy groups is not uncommon. If I am noticed, i move. Riflemen are support weapons, not in your face fighters.
The best quote so far is : Fight on your terms, not theirs.
Vopn, if I could reach through my monitor screen, I'd shake your hand. ![]()
Very well said, I agree 100%.
i know Vopn sorry if im being a bit pessemistic but it bothers me that it takes master rifleman to be decent in PvP, once I hit master I wont play that char that much since I've done all i can do and I cant get any more XP, dont have to group hunt anymore or do all those missions for XP i couldn't do before. Other classes like BH and commando and CH and CM do good in PvP before they hit master, in fact they own PvP.
I dont want to drop my rifle skills because they took very long to get... rifles out of the other combat professions have the slowest XP gain in the game (except for maybe fencer and swordsman...) especially for me since I'm not CH.
Sorry to bump this but i've been away from the boards a bit heh.
"i know Vopn sorry if im being a bit pessemistic but it bothers me that it takes master rifleman to be decent in PvP,"
You do know supposedly next patch they are changing alot of skills trees? You should only be decent in PVP at master, makes since. I beleive that soon this should be fixed. Rifleman also, unless i'm wrong is a support class, you're not suppose to just run in guns blazing. Yesterday, I took out a CH, and 2 commandos, they barely scratched me. The CH, however only have one sludge panther on me. How is our class sucking if one person is able to do that. Debrad or whatever, I'm glad you are enjoying the Rifleman class. Harpoon, go get master CH or something.
Personally, I think the way rifleman works is the way everyone should work. Very strong benefit for getting master while still having some good (but not great) skills farther down, relatively hard to work up the tree (compared to some), lot's of strengths balanced by appropriate weaknesses/limitations. Very powerful in some situations, but those weaknessessupply the 'rock' to our 'scissors'.
Every class should be built like ours....
(btw, add musician buffs and that helmet becomes a lot more tolerable)
