Thread: Rifleman Issues Designer responses

I aggree with almost everything that Elitesoldier had to say... almost. The idea of a sniper killing in one shot is the real world. In game terms, it's not realistic given armor, shields, etc. That said, FIX THE CLASS WEAPON. Why is it that a lightning cannon for a Bounty Hunter does 300-711 base damage with a 3.5 speed and specials not exceeding 45, but the class weapon for the Rifleman (T21) got totally screwed up by lowering its damage dealt?

And for those of you out there who say that the damage dealt by the T21 was too high and provided game imbalance, I say this in return: Have any of you seen a Master Bounty Hunter with an LLC doing a lightning cone (or whatever that is called) hit a target for 9k damage? Hello... IMBALANCE! The stats on the T21 or so terrible now that I get better results with my laser rifle, and the ABSOLUTE MAX I have seen in damage on that is 4k, and that is at 1/2 the speed of an LLC. And before you argue the damage dealt by the LLC, I argued with a character in game on it and he proved it to me.

Another MAJOR MAJOR MAJOR problem I have is that there doesn't appear to be a corrospondent reading these threads and taking them to Sony. I have sent messages to Sony to get someone in here... and their response has been as good as ticket responses in game. So... if anyone knows how to get in contact with Sony in order to get either a corrospondent or DEV to look at these problems, we are just wasting our time.

Normally I don't like to jump on the flame wagon but this time I just can't resist.

Hey rebelchamp go buy a flashlight, or a pen light.

Then buy a sniper rifle.

Do some distance tests, not on which go farther, but which go farther 'effectively'

OK, lets compare apples to apples here. Go buy a laser sight for that sniper rifle. I have a Rifle master .50BMG. Now put a scope on it so you can see your laser sight. you'll notice that that little laser dot goes ALOT further than you can fire accurately.

If you really want to get physics involved, I'd just like to point out that a laser can be fired from orbit accurately.

Game. Point. Match.

Hate to point out that sci-fi is part science possibilities and part fictions, I would also like to point out that by pulsing the laser rapidly you could effectivly burst it. Also I would like to know what webster your looking at because I quoted mine from the Dict of Scientific Terms. And as I stated a Laser is a concentrated beam of light focused threw a lens. (if focused enough the laser takes on heat properties and has the capabilities to cut threw certian objects)

oh and I'd like to say nice show Iruc!

has anyone else noticed that this thread was started almost 3 months ago and almost nothing has been fixed. As a matter of fact the nerf bat has been in full swing.

The reason fixes do not happen is because people go off on tangents, instead of staying focused, so if you have comments on how old the post is or that the Devs never read the posts, I beg of you to keep them to yourself but instead stick with what you think should be fixed and state it clearly with a concise (pardon spelling) reasoning behind it.

Sorry, RebelChamp, whether we stay focused or digress into tangentally handicapped discussions and flamewars doesn't mean squat to when and if the PTBs will tinker with our beloved profession. Hate to burst your bubble there, because, by and large, I agree with you.

Again, playing a Rifleman these days is about prestige, personal enjoyment and roleplaying. We just can't cut it with the munchkin classes. They'd wipe the floor with us in PvP. Heck, a TK Master'd wipe the floor with us. At least we can still kill Artisans and Musicians (no offense to the arts and crafts community). For the case against us, it is easier to become a Rifleman than it is to be either a BH or a Commando. So maybe we shouldn't be performing on par with them.

But there are non-comparitive isuues to be resolved. Warping. T21. HAM. Etc.

My only hope is that, one day, Rifleman will again be a feared combat class, worthy of respect. Or, maybe, just maybe, an Elite class will get tacked on above Rifleman..... perhaps Sniper. And THEN, we'll be the**selfedit** again.

About #6. Not all of us are in aconstant PvP battle... oh wait none of us are. So not being able to heal mind during battle is not a big plus if you ask me. About #4 at max range rifleman should get a plus, witch is what many people have said. I am tired of having a range between 60-50 of that I can get a shot off. Plus there should be a move that we can't be seen on the radar since we are SNIPERS. It really makes sense that way.

<post script> We need some DEV's that have been rifleman in the game so they understand that we really don't have much of an edge on anyone.

I've started my climb up the rifleman ladder and i gotta say the way things are looking i'm going to have to check out bounty hunter or some other professions. I don't know what profession this is but it ain't rifleman.

I'm not going to go on and on bout the problems with the So-Called rifleman. I think everyone else has done that just fine. I just wanna know if things are going to be fixed. If there not then i guess i'll have to start liking cheese and go with Bournty hunter or Commando. and if they are please post something designers before i start up another tree!!

Kesig:

Might as well start up a new tree. If you haven't noticed, the Dev's haven't made a posting here since day 1. I have sent in a couple different messages about getting someone in here and looking at this, but we have not yet seen anyone. Guess the Dev's really don't care about the Rifleman class.

As a rifleman that picked up the rifle on almost the very first day of play, I must say the following about commando weapons...

They are not too fast. So what if they give a lot of dmg? Know how many times I miss with it? PIsses me off. I feel like I'm trying to shoot my rifle at melee all the time. There are other pitfalls I won't get into, but I won't go there. Suffice it to say that speed should not be an issue with them. However, for balance, I wonder about ham costs onheavyweapons for specials: They seem nonexistent...

But... as a rifleman, I am shocked that a friggin pistol can hit mebetter than I hit in combat with my rifle. That's just plain disgusting. Way I see it, pistoleers shouldn't be able to hit crap beyond 20 m. Furthermore, an extended range of say, 100m, is absolutely necessary for the rifle: Otherwise, we are nothing more than handicapped carabineers when it comes to normal attacks, attacking wicked slow and hitting like **edit** up close (which is just plain crap!). Look, applying common sense, there ain't no way in hell a rifle is going to hit that badly under 15m or whatever the short range may be--unless it's at melee since that is common sense. In addition, there ain't no way in hell a rifleman is gonna take extra damage. Fact is, almost every soldier qualifies with a rifle--the Marines are known as rifleman first and foremost, having a history of sharpshooting going all the way back to the War of 1812 and before. Rifleman are snipers and assaulters. They should be able to funciton at nearly any distance and they must have the advantage of distance beyond other gunners. Period. It's just common sense and it does nothing to hurt game balance. Pistoleers should have to run up close to hit a rifleman and they should die trying--plain and simple and there are no arguments against it. Only carabineers should be without too much hassle fighting a rifleman among the marksman types. Even a commando should fear a rifleman. All classes should fear rifleman at long range, too. The fact that rifleman can barely win at PvP and must rely on others to fight a decent battle against mobs is ludicrous. Up our dmg, please, and our speed! We're hopelessly screwed in this, but...

It can be solved if we increase overall speed of rifles. The increased speed would allow greater dmg over the course of a battle, putting us on par with other marksmen. So what if the mind dmg can't be healed in combat? Tough. It's either that or riflemen die like flies like they normally do. Is this game balance??? No, I think not when rifleman drop the fastest of all combat classes I've ever seen because they can't deal enough dmg fast enough! It's disgusting and postively inane! DEV's: If you are worried that rifleman will abuse PvP or whatever with an unhealable mind attack, increase downtime with the specials! Duh! You do it with commandos so why can't you do it with riflemen??? My god, when I do my specials on my flame thrower, I just sit there like a dumb log for like 10 seconds while the enemy kites me to death, hoping I can get another shot off. Do this for the rifleman with mindshot and headshot and the problem of unhealable dmg is solved with actual balance b/c what moron rifleman would headshot at the wrong time? It would never be abused; you might expect one bleed shot at the most and a hasty headshot to finish off the enemy but that's about it since the specials would be so slow. By upping the dmg on rifles there would be no need for mind bar attacks with such high frequency. I mean, rifles are so underpowered... The only attack I ever use my rifle for anymore (if ever) is to mindshot the enemy cuz I know, once they're bleeding,I can do more dmg with my friggin flame thrower! That's right, I default to my commando cuz I can actually kill things quicker and more efficiently despite how much I miss! I even use my flame thrower at near maximumrange knowing I can deal more damage with it than my rifle, despite the atrocious accuracy. Anyone else think that's sick?
