I think the names were more based off of the appearences of the armor. Recon looks like the lightest armor, Recon work would use light armor. Battle Armor looks in between, and Assault looks like the heavy armor, assaulting something would require more protection.

Your content will come at the same time as ours, since guess what, we now need each other for either content to do much damage.

They should just make the different types of armor (Padded, Composite, Ubese) be appearance schmatics that are made into whatever class (Assault, Battle, Recon) of armor you want/need. The resources used would be determined by what class of armor you wanted to make. Especially given that all but about four of the armor helmets in the game look ridiculous.

I'm glad for the decision to stay Battle, as I am already a Rifleman and therefore have Recon. I think the best solution is to introduce a half dozen new armor appearances per classification. Everyone wants to have choices, and to look a little ifferent than other people. Having more appearances would do the trick

Then again, there is probably a limit on how many ways armor can look. Maybe instead they should take apart the current armor and make for a more versatile and effective color palette. Allow us to have several colors, instead of just 2.

Jedi will never be a starting profession...Looted items and quest items will never be better then crafted items, this is not a loot based game...CH will return shortly...CH and BE will not be back in game...Rangers are getting their revamp next!...The stealth system will not be changing in the spy expertise...Need any more examples of things the devs said that did not hold true?

Ranger prerequisites are also changing. In addition to get a full set of combat mods comparable to other combat professions you will only be required to have 2 novice skill branches to earn Novice Ranger, similar to Bounty Hunter, Squad Leader or Commando. We are currently looking at setting the Ranger prerequisites to Scout - Exploration 4 and Marksman - Carbines 4.

So sayeth the Keldarin. That opens a LOT of skillpoints.

This is horrible! I return to find my new title on the forum is "Jedi". What's up with that? If they wanted to confer that I'm rare and learned, they'd make my title RANGER. and then make it camo colored.

That is interesting indeed. For Carbineer/Rangers this is even sweeter.

Talk about screwing the Melee Rangers here.

Yes but not too far from what has happened before in other professions. Smuggler requires Unarmed but has no unarmed specials. Squad Leader is all about pistols for xp and only gives Ranged acc/spd mods no melee. BH is geared towards ranged. Combat Medic gets a pistol. Ranger will likely follow the path of the other professions in this regard. Is it fair, no.

Yeah, I'm not sure about this change. Despite being a Ranged Ranger, I've been trying to champion the cause of melee rangers wherever I can.I'm seeing too many tie-ins between Marksman and Scout these days. every elite combat profession that stems from scout will also have a marksman pre-req except CHs if this goes through. Half of the marksman hybrids now are hybrids with melee classes (commando/smuggler) and half with scout. There are no scout/melee hybrids...

Though I'm with Calc-- if we're going to require carbines, we dang well better get some carbine stuff. A Ranger-specific carbine, a few offensive specials...if we're an official combat profession now, we gotta get the whole schebang.

I already posted my "no no no no no!" to Keldarin, but I wonder...

Dya suppose the carbines requirement is to make the Bothan bola carbine a Ranger-only weapon? Is it actually available anywhere yet?
