Thread: Revised harvesting changes..

The question is, and it wasn't at least clear to me, does the ranger, if near others in his group, get the bonus from himself for himself? What if there is another ranger in the group of the same skill. Do the rangers then get the bonus from each other?

Yep, as you are the master ranger, you are always within 64m of one so you get the bonus even if its only you out on your own (effectivelly allowing solo hunting group rangers, although who would want to after these changes?).
My apologies here but this is incorrect.
What happens is the bonus does a check and makes sure that someone around you is within 64m and if that someone is a ranger/master ranger it will select the highest bonus to apply as long as they are grouped with you. Sorry if the version notes were not clear.
It's a non-stackable bonus (example 3 master rangers in the group you get a one time bonus applied).
I hope this clears up the confusion.
This is a bonus for grouping not for being a master ranger/ranger.
To explain things better I hunted down Runesabre and here is what he had to say
The bonus is based on everyone around you. You being a Master Ranger does not benefit yourself in regards to this harvesting bonus. If you are a MR and grouped with a Rifleman, you will get a 20% bonus for having someone grouped with you within 64m. If you want the 40% bonus, you will need to have another MR grouped with you and within 64m.

Well... that's unfortunate. So, a master ranger can lead a hunting group of a few novice scouts (all of whom get a +40% harvesting bonus), but the master ranger himself receives only 20%?
Lucky for me, the only one I hunt with exclusively is a master ranger also. Seems unfortunate for other master rangers though.
Couldn't this be changed to give that 40% bonus to Master rangers, as long as group members are within 64m? (This solves an MR solo grouping and hunting alone)
This clears things up. But still my issue remains: for only a 20% bonus on harvesting does not way up against the hassle I have being a long range fighter (rifleman/mch), especially when other do get more bonus then me personal (a scout would give me 30% addition and the scout would get 40%)... Sounds weird to me... I cannot learn to _better_ harvest from a scout than vice versa. Whenever a ranger is grouped, he should get 40% all the time (or even more) cause he is extra carefull to get the most out of it for everyone's profit!

So... A Rifleman with ranger xx4x will be able to harvest more than the Master Ranger he is grouped with?
QFE
Excellent point to consider!
Situation: two group members. 1 master, 1 0040 ranger.
0040 ranger has a harvest boost of +40%
Master ranger has a boost of +30%.
Although I haven't done the math or tested this yet (let's not get in a panic until we test this), I do think that master ranger would be slightly outharvested by his group member.
(edit: I originally wrote 20%, but it should read 30% since the MR is grouped with another ranger.)

I think frightwig has hit the head on the nail here.
Tiggs... Thank you for dropping by the ranger forum and answering our questions... we're all appreciating the dev love! The question above though is exactly what I (and I believe others) are looking for clarification on.
Cheers.

This makes no sense. I dont understand why everyone in a group will get a bonus for having a Ranger in the group... except for the Ranger him/herself. Why was it decided this way?
