Thread: More Fun with /Rescue Zarn's Covert Ranger Save Tactics
Don't hurt people with this. It's OK to mess with their heads but just because someone's doing a bounty hunter mission don't kill the bounty hunter. That's pretty lame. You have the jump on him and he's totally unsuspecting anyway. Anyone who does this is a total loser because they're taking advantage of an exploit and hurting people in underhanded fights.
I have no problem taking on Imps with it though. I love it when they have no idea where I came from or what's happening. One minute they're eating a Denver omelet and then they have a rebel blaster in their face. Hell if they want to join the Imperials then they're ready to die for their cause and shouldn't enter battle lightly. No way would I let them kill a Rebel if I can /rescue them.
Also you can attack ANYONE fighting an animal, tusken, whatever.

Ok changed my mind.
I retract my earlier statements. Don't do this to BH either for or against them unless they consent.
I didn't know BH missions were so difficult or expensive, just though they were like regular missions.
If I was BH and could never feel safe attacking a mark or someone spoils the mark that would really get me upset.
This IS an exploit and not a designed part of the game.
Anyone running around engaging in PVP without consent is in my mind a piece of s__t. Period.
I will continue to use it for faction fighting though. Hell if Imps can throw disease packs through walls and command ATSTs that incap in one shot I can suddenly go overt in the middle of a firefight.

Take it from this Bounty Hunter:
If you /rescue me while I am in combat with my mark without asking, you are kill-stealing. Period. Regardless if I get paid upon mission completion or not. We are also after the XP.
Do it in any form or fashion without my permission, and I will report you for harrassment / griefing.
I know, I KNOW that some of you may do this to actually (in your mind) rescue the Bounty Hunter. However the majority of the players that do this will do it to aggravate the BH, just as Zarn suggests in his original post.
Bounty Hunter missions are very difficult, and we don't need anyone mucking them up for us. BH missions are for BH's, no one else. Interfere with one of them, and it could easily cost the BH money and a considerable chunk of time invested in finding their mark.
Zarn, I misread you. Initially I thought that you were proposing a cool new way for Rangers and Bounty Hutners to work together. However, with this thread, you are clearly out to sway your fellow Rangers into giving the BH's a hard time.
Not cool.
if a ranger interferes with one of my bounties i will let the mark kill him. if the ranger interferes by attacking me i will kill him and send him to the cloners. either case will be reported as harrassment and exploitation.
i picked being a BH so i didnt have to join some silly RPing PA to hunt difficult things, and so i could be a semi-self sufficient class that inherently fun unique hunting things to do. i didnt pick BH to be harrassed by exploiters.
OMG, the almighty BHs whine and we are spozed to roll over and die? Wrong answer kids.
I will not and do not go out to intentionally steal a bounty. But if a BH wants to mess with me, call me Smokey Bears lil brother and crap like that, he/she/it should realize I have the power (and confess it people, its about our only power) to mess with a hit.
It's called respect. I give it, I expect it. No respect, well... one never knows does one,,,???
As to the Park Ranger v. Military Ranger thingy. Smokey can kma. I am here to rock the world, in my own fashion. I want to be able to contribute to a group...the camps help, so does the fact I harvest meat and hides like a fiend. You wanna go out and pet durnis, fine... me, well I like killing em.
Nuff said, and some of those BH's need a reality check...no sense of humor

Sorry for being on a high horse xion. I tried this last night with a friend. We went outside of Coronet City on Coreallia and he began fighting a meatlump fool unarmed (he doesn't have jack in that so it was not going to be a one hit kill). I target the meatlump and type /rescue BOOM my friend is now in my crosshairs. He throws a punch and blam I take him out with bleed attacks and what not.
Uber l33t d00dz could use this. Also do you really think that ub3r l337 d00d is going to JUST get /rescue without powergaming up to some type of a bleed attack. Think for a second xion. The root issue remains that no one seems to get or acknowledge. This skill can be used to ATTACK another player WITHOUT THEIR CONSENT. Regardless of rather or not they kill you, regardless of rather or not it's a BH ticking you off calling you names (to which you can just GROW UP and use /addignore to just ignore of the zit faced kid). If that BH was to somehow find a way to attack you without your consent you would be royally ticked and start screaming to the devs to "fix this NOW!!!!!"
Regardless of anything the root issue remains which isyou are using this skill to attack players without their consent. That is non-consensual PvP and that is griefing and that is an exploit because it violates the basic PvP system of the game.
Flame me all you want, accuse me of whining, tell me to get off my high horse, whatever the bottom line is you know I'm right.
Besides it's a moot point. Other rangers (including myself) have /bugged this and Holo said in his response that bugs with /rescue were being fixed. It's not a problem now because the general public still doesn't know about it and not too many people are rangers.
The moment ub3r hax0rz Owen Zjoo finds out about it THEN it'll be a problem cuz he'll tellorz all his fo shizzle homies in his 31337 PA teh SHUG about it and he'll use it to p1mp0rz n00bz cuz he's teh r0x0rz shizzle dizzle.
Translation. When some kid finds out about this he'll tell all his little friends and they'll use it to grief players then it'll be a serious problem.
Master Scout=77 pts
Master Ranger = 63 pts
Total Points = 140.
110 left to dump into any combat profession.
That's 92 for master pistoleer, carbineer, rifleman, tka, fencer, swordsman, pikeman.
You have enough to master any combat profession you want.
Alsoyou don't have to be a master ranger. You only need 1 skill in the ranger tree so
master scout = 77
ranger skill needed = 11
total used = 88 left over = 162
uber griefer isn't going to get master ranger they are only going to get enough skills necessary to start griefing.
The devs have mentioned that they will be fixing this.. so I move to officially kill this thread.

Taurin messaged me this morning to say that they've looked into it... found the bug and they are going to fix it asap.
