Agreed I have nothing against Zarn personally and Zarn comes off as a very nice person.

Let me explain why I'm so vocal and passionate about this.

I have had non-consensual PvP griefing done against in me other online games and enough of it to last a lifetime. In Phantasy Star Online for the Sega Dreamcast not only could you attack another player without their consent due to bugs and exploitsbut you could kill them, loot them, and actually physically alter their character setting their HP to -1 rendering them unplayable and unfixable. . . literally all in one hit.

If yourHP gets set to -1 then guess what happens every time from then on out when you log in. . . you guessed it you're dead when you log in and your character cannot be fixed because the data is stored client side. If you've had that character for a year it's gone and there is no way to fix it.

That's why I am so against this and any other non consensual PvP exploit.

Thanks for letting me rant.

Also because it was a console game it couldn't be patched.

Oooh, this would be tooo much fun in tricking people into thinking player bounties were initiated..../rescue a mob, incap the player and say. "Bounty incapacitated, mission accomplished, on to collect my 1,000,000 credits" Just have fun fending off the /tell's asking who put the bounty on their head and why.

I think there are a few different issues here, and just for clairity's sake, they should be covered, before "/rescue" is replaced with "/wistful-longing-to-interceed."

/resuce can, appearently be used for--

Rescuing a Dark Jedi Knight from a company of pistoleers.

this is unacceptable, we can all agree on that. it creates PvP where there was none before. maybe this is easily fixed by not allowing Rangers to rescue Mobs. I don't know how that would affect Pets and Faction Pets, anyone with more insight into this one is welcome...

Rescuing a Bounty Hunter from his Mark.

OK, we all agree that without the BH's consent, this is kill-stealing. However, I believe that most professions in the game are suseptable to this, and I think the opportunity for Role-Playing through this outweighs the mathmatics of XP loss. Without consent it's rude, but I'm not sure it qualifies as Griefing.

Rescuing Bob The Carabineer who's dueling Kwai-Chang-Caine The TKA,

Nope, once again, not fair to Caine, goes against the spirit of Duels, No one should be able to do that.

Rescuing Luke The Overt Rebel Marksman from 5 Overt Imperials from the "The Empire Wins" PA

This is the one that I love. I love the concept of this the execution, the roleplaying opportunity, 6 people in a faction battle and I have the ability to make a choice, Help, Hinder, Ignore. I love the Idea that I may even be a covert imperial, just being a lawful, do-right citizen, and I see a fight I just can't ignore. and /resuce the rebel. for that moment, I don't care what the perks are, nor the penalties. I don't care if I loose 1000 imp fp's, and I don't care if I don't get a thing from the alliance. For 3 minutes, I get to be a Hero. just like in the movies.

Upon further reflection, give "/rescue" to everyone, make something else cool for the Rangers. Why should they be the only Heroes.

Thanks for your time.
