Guys,

You are taking this way, way, way too seriously.

Have any bounty hunters actually had this problem? Legitimately?

This was a funny, interesting, and innovative way to point out an exploit while chiding the Devs that this feature needs work.

Read it again - it just gets funnier. That anyone would legitimately do these things (other than the first one) is highly unlikely in my opinion.

Quit reading everything hoping to get offended guys.

You are definitely right that I was trying to draw attention to the skill because it really really really does need to be addressed...

I was listing all the ways it COULD be used in the game thus far... and how I'd SUCCESSFULLY used all of them...

I guess the reason why people aren't laughing is because I HAD been killing BH (as well as their pets) and also faction killed some IMPs as a covert agent.

While I'm not condoning my actions, I do think the skill was successful at doing what i attempted it do to.

DeltaXi65, I must be misunderstanding you... I can't believe that you, of all people, are not taking this seriously. This is no joke. We cannot only help a NPC kill a BH (say, if he is low in health and a few shots could end his life/mission) but we can also "assist" him and take away XP that the BH may expect (as he doesn't expect anyone is going to jump into his fight).

You think that is funny? Or did you think we were kidding? Maybe you are not aware of the fact that this is not fiction. I will give you the benefit of the doubt.

I could see where being able to assist a BH in need would be a good thing but not when he does not want it. This is a special ability to attack the otherwise un-attackable and it should be nerfed before some people (specifically, people in this thread) abuse it (more).

I wish people would stop thinking we should have no +skills to use against humanoid NPCs. I have no idea why you want to gimp our proffession. Rangers should excell against any MOB or PC when they are outside of a city. Why wouldnt we be able to rescue a PC from a humanoid NPC.? Where does it say that and why would you want to limit yourself that way? There are MOBs other than creatures running around out there.

Crow... you're sooo wrong.. I stopped doing this the second Caorhlis and I had our fight... and we discussed it... we kissed and made up and we're on the same foot... we started message board threads about it to point out that this is wrong.. and we're looking for DEV intervention and from the sounds of it.. they may have fixed it (can't tell yet, not able to play during the day).

So give me a break... this did start as a funny ironic piece but then I pushed it to the limit ... borked it and now I'm trying to fix it... thus ALL of the fricken posts I've made about in the last day on other boards...

This skill needs to be redesigned as it stands.. its not working properly and poorly designed.

And another thing... I've been talking about this for weeks... thus the "More fun" part of the subject...

This only became a huge issue because I made it one when Caorhlis and I started posting a ton of info about it.

If you're historically challenged... here's some info for you...

No one complained then... its only when we started to draw attention that it was causing grief that people listened.

You are trying to pass yourself off as someone who was calling attention to a serious exploit by using humor when all you were doing was using humor to call attention to a serious exploit that you were using. What is the difference? One would mean that you were being ironic and the other means you were boasting. I saw nowhere in your first few posts (or the ones you linked) that would indicate that you were trying to help eradicate the problem. To the contrary, I see you only pointing out how much fun it will be and only very recently changing your tune as you noticed the community considered it an exploit.

You did call attention to it causing grief... except thatyou laughed about it. You are being disingenuous about your intentions, from the start.

crow... this is the problem with you coming in on a topic half-baked and out of context...

I had been using this tactic for TWO WEEKS before I was alerted that it was indeed an exploit...

I had no idea that being able to aggro people was wrong .. in fact most bounty hunters I had done it to... welcomed it at first.. and they killed me multiple times (cough hiroz)....

So give me a break crow...

The SECOND a bounty hunter says... "Hey this seems like an exploit.." We talk about it.. ticket it... and we start threads saying... this doesn't seem right...

And low and behold.. it seems that they've fixed it...

My point in several other threads was... I simply used a skill the way I thought it should be used (to rescue an NPC I saw being attacked) and the skill worked... it worked many times before someone said... hey.. I don't like this... so blame them for encouraging me into thinking it was a general part of the game.. I'm not a BH... how am I supposed to know????

Not everyone thinks the way you do... I respect your need to flame me.. but honestly.. I've been FRICKEN flamed enough about this **edit** topic... I'm stick of it.. bury it.. its fixed... now get outta my face ...

I finally really tried using the distraction idea in group combat many times last night and it felt flawless...WOOT!!!! It actually made me feel like I was finally able to contribute something besides a nice camp and less like a bum asking them to come sit in my field base between battles even though very few were damaged because the doctors and medics were so good. The rush that you get when you see someones's ham hit a small sliver and then all of a sudden it stops going down... PRICELESS... then after a couple of seconds that doctor finally gets a chance to heal herself and WOOT she's like new and never even had to peace out. I felt SOOOO good saving the doctors it almost makes the whole current ranger skillset... um... dropping subject now before the adrenaline wears off the way maskscent used to. I just wish I had a little better indication of whether or not my resuce attempt worked so I know whether I should retry or not... I can't see anything in the combat window because there are hundreds of lines going by every second when there are 5 of us and 3 pets killing mobs.

The root issue is that this is being used to ATTACK other players (not their mobs but the players) without their consent. Right now from what I read and understand /rescue works on ANYTHING. If you rescue with a player targeted their mob attacks you. If you /rescue with a MOB (creature) targeted then you get to attack the person fighting the creature.

Noob player who just installed the game sets out to kill durni's and butterflies outside tyrena to get their first skill box. Uber l33t haxorz player named Owen Zjoo comes up to noob and targets the butterfly they are attacking and types /rescue. Owen Zjoo then gets to attack noob, puts a bleed on them and kills them then says "I roxorz u n00b I teh shizzle". I HOPE I'm wrong about how this works but it has been used in this manner to ATTACK players.

Oh and if the thread was meant to be funny then another usage could be to form a non profit (accepting donations of course) Ranger PA thatconsists ofuber tree huggers going around killing players who murder innocent gnorts only to excel their own selfish careers.

The only problem with your anology is that the Newb would probably end up killing the Ranger...

Thats what generally happens with Master Rangers who have no points left for combat skills....

This thread was funny when it was STARTED PRIOR to the exploit "discovery"... and once that happened.. it was posted vehemently that this was bad...

So get off your high horse.. and stop taking things out of context.
