TH was from "us" at one point, long ago. They simply used him as a voodoo doll. Not entirely sure I'd wish that on my worst enemy

  • Well, I post stuff that pisses off the forum members.

  • I get a little bit of info(but not all) prior to you guys getting it.

  • I send many e-mails to the secret TH account. This is probably the most important thing.

  • I get to ask direct questions to TH and usually get an answer, but I get a lot of non-disclosable answers.

  • I get to visit the correspondent forum where TH posts a lot of stuff and the devs themselves post occasionally. They certainly do read it, even if they don't post.

  • I listen to the Ents talk about hotpants.

  • I try to keep y'all happy, but see my first comment.

hehe thanks, and you not pissing me off....................... atm

Just differences in opinion and because frustration levels are high people are blowing up. Id much prefer one thread where we rant or moanand ask why we are being ignored that is stickied rather than 3 on the main page.

But thats just me

I didn't realize until Fred posted the link, that Thunderheart had been promoted to Q-3P0's position.

Frankly I think this spells doom for us all. TH went from really pushing to get us answers to something Fred alluded to in an earlier post, which is them. He does nothing for the players anymore. At all. He solely represents the developers now, and truthfully is of no use to us players. He is, and has been for sometime, merely the spokesperson for the dev's, and not a very good community relations person at all.

I am not flaming, yet pointing out the differences between the ThunderHeart that started to the ThunderHeart now that plays a psuedo Bill Clinton, spinning everything, and changing his opinion whenever a different group raises it's voice. I really wish we had a voice with Dev's other than Calculus, that had the players interest in mind.

But then you have to kiss TH rear end. EEWWWW

On the subject of TH not really representing the players in a long time, I totally agree. But with that, maybe it's a good idea we are getting fresh blood for his current job. But if it ends up being someone from outside the game, player or otherwise, it could be disasterous. /shrug who know.

In SWG, the sqeeky wheel does get the grease. The DE correspondant posted a very well written state of the profession about how useless they were and why they were necessary. Like 4 months later they had 2 full publishes. I'm sorry, but censorship is bad, and I've added"Why do the Dev's ignore us" to my sigfile. AND as my sigfile reveals, they know how to deal with people who rock the boat.

I think this is relevant, I copied it from my post on a different thread that got me thinking, but I thinkthis might be better here instead of there. Oh and Calc doesn't piss me off, I';m just starting to feel a little more militant where the devs are concerned.

Once again I'm kind of in the middle here, and I'll try to say this without flames for either side. I agree with Barbarossa in that we shouldn't be paying for broken code/lack of content, whatever you want to call the downside of Ranger(or even SWG as a whole).I also agree with Calc on his post today about "why don't the devs read ...." and all that. It seems to me that someone has made a bad judgment call in deciding that more should be added to the game( I'm being general here not ranger specific) before what is there gets fixed. I have only been a ranger for a month or so and I don't think I'll ever drop it once I hit master. BUT.......I also think we may be being a bit too nice and patient. Has anyone thought of invading the dev/concept boards? Perhaps we should start posting our ideas on other forums on a constant basis. the concept and development forums seem to be full of posts asking for ideas, why don't we give them our ideas.

Like I said, I've only been one of you for a month so I don't know if it's been tried before. I don't want us to all flame and **edit** like whiny 12 year olds, but I think we should try even harder to make our voices heard. the devs don't post on this forum or give feedback, fine then we start posting on the concept forums too. I don't blame Calc for any inaction or lack of comunication but it's starting to become obvious to me that we need to make a bit more of a stir to get results. I am all for that approach as long as we do it in a mature manner. Please fire back any thoughts as to how to do that. The best I've got at this time is for all of us to post in other forums on a constant basis.

Back to the topic. I agree I don't care for the "wwwaaaa the devs hate us wwwaaa" posts. The devs don't hate us and are not out to **edit** us. But do we get enough of those annoying posts to actually warrant a sticky thread on it? Is our community that bad and abunch of cry babies? I don't think so. We do and get a lot less whining that most of the other boards. Personally I think Calc just needed to vent a bit... venting done. Now let's let the thread drop into the murky deep. no sticky needed.

3 in the last 2 weeks...

Calc,

You have always had my support, and you will continue to, but I think this is a bit much. 3 of these posts in two weeks? Not a concern. One popped up right after TH responded so that person obviously wasn't paying attention.

Threatening to delete threads and stickying this post, in my opinion, demeans us. Many responses to this thread have pointed to other forums as examples of areas that may require a thread like this, and I feel I have to agree that this community is one of, if not the, last possible community that should be addressed in this manner.

Censorship, of any sort, regardless of the persons, or their attitude/opinions is not an answer to the problem. Simply point out to them that yes, Dev's do respond, just not as often as we'd like. I personally would rather not have seen TH pop in, make a cameo, and leave without actually providing anything useful.

I would humbly suggest you remove this thread from the stickied posts at the top of our board. We are better than this.

Respectfully,

Calc, do you really think our "correspondant issues" time is going to be enough for all that ranger is lacking right now? I'm asking your opinion of what you truely feel ranger needs. Do you feel it needs a full ravamp or just some tweeking here and there to go in on a mini publish?

The correspondent issues publish will in no way, shape, or form be enough to solve our issues. Neither will hotfixes, BUT a lot of good can be acomplished through hotfixes. For example, I can think of no reason a harveting increase can't be hotfixed in. There is no way, however, that modular camping can be hotifxed in...that will have to wait for a revamp. Rangers will have to wait for a revamp as well. It is a fact of life. I also think that JTL will delay thingseven further, which will push a Ranger revamp further back into the future. I think we need to get what we can while we can, even if we need to hold off on the big stuff.
