Now how can you be having trouble taking out CL60 NPCs witha carbine.

Guess I didn't make myself clear. I have trouble area firing and taking down 4 to 7 level 60 targets while kiting. They might only be level 60, but they'll still lay you to waste when there's 4 of them. And Advanced Supression Fire is pretty sorry compared to what Carbineers had Pre-CU for crowd control. Like I said I used to take out scanning crews solo with the dizzy from Full Auto Area, and then KD most of them with Charge Shot 2, after that it was fairly easy pickings. To test it yourself now try the Janta Stronghold on Dantooine.

Ah understand. I miss Strafeshot2 more than anything from the Pre-CU rifle lines. For the same stated reasons you laid out. With a Good T21 or DXR6B StrafeShot2 for the win back in the day.

As for carbines I am still learning the nuances of the carbine.

Started out my ranger as a carbineer. Switched to pistols somewhere in there for the better defense mods. Post-CU, went back to carbines.

No particular power-gaming reason. The carbine just seems to be the right "size" weapon for my short, fat little Rodian toon.

Since taking up MBH for my combat prof a couple months ago, I've pretty much stuck with a souped-up heavy lightning rifle. I like the sound, I like the animation, and I like my steak charred on the outside but still bleeding inside.

I guess to me carbines would seem like the least likely weapon for Rangers to use. Melee weapons would fit the sneaky aspect, as a knife is much quieter then a gun. Rifles appeal to the sniper aspect, and pistols are a better close in weapon, which is good for sneaking around. Carbines seem much more like an assault weapon to me, not really fitting the concept of a stealthy warrior.

If you need a carbine with decent range, the DXR6 has a max range of 64 meters.

Forget the fact that I have several million credits invested in rifles, and that I've held a rifle since logging on just over two years ago.

At the end of the day they are as much a part of my gameplay experience as Ranger is.

Now to come up with a new poll topic though. lol

What about... "Famous Ranger Scandals"

Question: What, in your opinion, is the biggest Ranger "scandal" we've had in the last year?

Answers:

  1. JBMat becomes a BH... then a Jedi... then takes his own mission and ends up having to kick his own arse!

  2. The photo of a certain Ranger Blue Glowie Emeritus in THOSE garments.

  3. Owen's impersonation of one time Presidential wanna be Gary Hart on ye old ship "Monkey Business", with the part of Ms Donna Rice played by a Shauput

  4. The fact that Paks is too nice to HAVE any kind of scandal... that's a scandal!

  5. Stunning Revelations about Hakai's "special rice ball sauce" and the traditional "Cleaning of the Rancor pens"

  6. Pappi's "Ranger" toon screenshot (we all know that's really a dancer / MID Pappi, no self-respecting Ranger would dress like that!)

  7. {your nomination here}
