oh i dunno... i think i'd have to say carbines, carbines and/or carbines... yah carbines are my life in case any of you were wondering...

Difinatly Riflemen Ranger for #1, riflemen has always been my favorite profession. When i started the game i picked up a CDEF rifle off the bazaar and went to killing chubas in the noob fields of theed.


Having played as every combat profession both pre and post CU im going to have to say that Carbineerwould my second choice. Carbines give you a pretty nice range and some nice damage. It allows you almost unlimited mobility, and the ability to keep you foe at a distance.


Lastly for ranger i would have to say any Melee profession and pikemen, probly fencer or TKM though due to the new aspects of ranger give it a quicker assassian image. Pikemen and Swordsmen both deal really nice damage, but it would be kind of hard to hide a pike while u infiltrate an enemy facility.

Rifle



I've tried everything except pikeman and settled on Rifle as the best fitting my playstyle. Not that it matters one whit anymore but there ya go.

So... Many of you have stated "Rifles"... Do you not use traps? If so, how do you deal with the problem of having to be sooooo close to throw a trap that it brings the critter too close for a good rifle?

Half of my life as a Ranger is traps. I love them and am always throwing them left and right. I am currently working up Pistols because the range was great for using traps.... but if Rifles are as good as you say... do you even use traps?

If I had to give up my traps to use Rifles, forget it. But if there is a tactic that can utilize BOTH... let me know what it is.

Rifles first choice. Damage, distance, Cover and Conceal make it so much more efficient. (AmeliaRose/Naritus)


I have a TKM/Ranger, it can be done, but having to get 6m from the target is a royal pain, having little damage ability is a pain. Give me back the pre CU TKM power and moves, rofl, and TKM can be a great hunter/fighter character. (Atheren/Bria)

It seems I've missed out, but I am posting my preference anyway:


1.) polearm - with companion-enhanced damage

2.) fisticuffs (at least pre-CU, since I haven't tried it since) - with companion-enhanced damage

3.) polearm - with companion-enhanced damage



My companions have saved me knickers more times than I care to boast. I would consider them complete weapons, except that mine are too low-level to fight without me.

Carbines mostly, now, I like the scatter shot on hunts when grouped, lots less tabing about and get a piece of everything. I also like knocking down targets, that's handy too


Rifles when I want to go for range, I was doing conceal shot a lot when I was a Master Rifleman, I really liked that.


Pistols just for the heck of it (first thing I gave up from the Master Marksman tree)

Rifles.

Start 65m out, take cover. 2 conceal shots, 1 sniper shot, 1 knee-cap while he closes. Toss the p-dart and move outta melee range to at least 60m. Then alternate headshot and stun shot until it falls, or repeat with p-dart and move as needed.
