Thread: We need a hunting rifle unique to Rangers
"Maybe it could also increase the range on traps too."
- Interesting, but the current throw range is 50m, so increasing the range might not benefit us much. ![]()
If something like this is going to be so illogical as to only effect animals then I am certainly against it.
It's bad enough that Rangers cannot find thier own flora. I don't know how much more illogical implementation I can stand...
I think there wasalot of good discussionon the adding ofRanger "weapon" or "other"... but I wanted to mention another non-weapon suggestion for the Ranger class.
I'm not yet sure how this would only be for the Rangerprofession, but it would be great to have some type of /areascan command where they can use some type of device such as binocularsalong with enhancing skillto see what's up ahead at a greater distance than the other classes. After all, they are based off of scouting which consist of stealthy observation I believe. Just a thought... there could be inherent problems with this depending on how terrain and creatures are spawned.
I know Darth Maul had some nice binocs and I believe there were some used on Hoth that were shown?

I think I said it somewhere before but I would love to have a bow or a crossbow. I wouldn't mind a creature only weapon..hey we have creature only traps, why not a weapon. Different arrows with different effects would be great, though I would like one to be used as a strong bleed. And we may be a support class but the whole basis of our class is hunting and killing creatures...So we are locked into having some kind of combat capabilities just to use our class abilities.

- Well gee... This is probably right up your alley. The Bow discussion is somewhere in there. ![]()
Maybe I'm not very clear when I say that having a weapon that effects only creatures is "illogical".
The game has rules set within the Star Wars sci-fi genre. Yes, many if not most of the things in the Star Wars universe are fantastic and bizarre, but they still conform to a set law of physics and "reality".
Up is above your Wookies head. The sun(s) is a giant ball of fiery gas and not a mythical god-figure riding a chariot across the sky. A bullet that makes a hole in a fleshywomprat bodywill make a hole in a fleshy human body as well.
Take cloning out of the game! I've hated the idea of cloning from the begining. Sure it exists in the Star Wars universe, but it is increadibly illegal! Not every Tom, **edit** and Harry can go and have a clone made of themself. Non-force sensitive people don't even have the means of transfering thier sentience from one shell to another!
I am pro-Bacta Tank revival. That makes more sense and fit the continuity better, but these are just my opinions.
I have made my peace with many of the odd things they decided to add to this game. I don't have to like or encourage them to add more.
Sorry, I guess I should have said "Not every Tom, Richard, and Harry...".

"I am pro-Bacta Tank revival"
- I concur entirely.
- Rather than cloning centers, the concept of recovery centers using bacta tanks was floated during the beta.
- Sadly it was too late to make such a massive change to the system, but it would have fit Star Wars Continuity better than the current system. ![]()
More ideas for non-weapon hunting aids:
Lure.
An ability that would let you draw a single creature away from it's pack, without making it go aggro on you, and without alerting others in the pack that anything hostile was going on.
It's primary use would be to draw social MOBs out of the range at which their pack-mates would join in the fight. Of course, if you fail, the MOB might well go aggro on you, and bring all his friends. But it's a realistic hunting-type ability that would be fun, I think.
The corollary ability would be Scare - functioning like a warning shot without using a weapon -with a greater chance of drivng the creature off but without causing damage.
Perhaps both abilities require items that need to be crafted by the Ranger: decoys and animal calls.
