Thread: Nrass... Why is a stealther far too imbalancing?

I like the compromise of not having us turn invisible but just make us appear to be yellow dots on radar. That way it can't be considered way over balanced. Maybe change a skill tree in Ranger. Does anyone really use Ranger traps? I vote we scrap that entire tree and leave it as a scout ability and add something cool to Ranger in its place like Infiltration.
Well, most people don't currently use the Ranger trapping tree, but there are many cool ideas about what to put in that tree to make people use it (see Outdoorsman proposal for really good examples). If we want a tree that is focused on stealth, I feel it should be the wayfaring line personally. It fits with the fact that camo kits are already in that line, and it helps to differentiate the Ranger Wayfaring line from the Scout Exploration line. (Both have some stealth aspects and some terrain negotiation skills, but scoutwould havean emphasis onthe terrain negotiation aspect while ranger would have the emphasis on the stealth aspect).
Just my opinion. Thanks for reading.

Being a Swordsman you should understand why.
Being able to sneak up to a Ranged fighter without them knowing and attacking point blank would be anincredible skill to have.
The melee and ranged fighters are balanced (or they are supposed to be), such that if a melee can get in close they will win, and a ranged fighter will win if he can successfully kite the melee player.
This is why I said it should have a minimum distance to work at, camouflage doesn't work if you're next to the other person, this distance should be within combat range but obviously not within melee range - "'ere, larry, why's that bushwalking towards us and why is there a power 'ammer sticking out of it ?"
Give it a minimum distance of say 32m - half the combat distance, so it's balanced between ranged and melee users.
Invisibility should not work in Cities, Rangers are outdoors people, they would mainly be used to ambush people that you know are coming, or are likly to come.(I dont see anything wrong with giving Master Smugglers an intown invisibility either) Generally along popular routes(like in between Bestine and Anchorhead), or just sitting as close to town as possible that you can use conceal.
Percentage Chance of cover breaking in different states/ranges. Just, a simple thrown together list, that may or may not work or be balanced...I think it these could work, within 64m there would always be a chance of breaking invisibility, and just enough to not be detected if your careful, that would make it useful.
Also, anyone on a vehicle should have a much lower chance of detecting you since they wouldnt be as aware with that much noise and moving that fast, which is only fair since they would be harder to hit moving that fast anyways, they shouldnt break your cover easily either. Animal Mounted players would have a slightly higher chance then people on vehicles, Burst Runners would have nearly as much detection chance as walking/running players. So, the slower they are moving, the more likly they are to spot you.
Invisibility cannot be used with Mounts or Vehicles, and breaks immediatly when you Burst Run or Attack(Some abilities, like Conceal Shot, may have a chance to avoid breaking invisibility).

your right, your so right.. but personally I'd rather be on this board complaining about cheaters and getting them kicked off the server, than on this board complaining about how my class is borked and bending NRass's ear .. because not everyone who plays PVP is a cheater .. but everyone who's a Ranger(tm) wants to be a Ranger
I vote for the yellow dot idea!
Since we are using animal resources it makes sense for us to look like animals on radar.
