Have to disagree on getting some CH skill as a Master Ranger, if I wanted a pet I would have been a CH. I am not a CH I am a Ranger a master of the wild,I do not want my crowning moment and class defining ability be one that another class has. I want something that says hey being a Master Ranger rocks! Like mass harvest, a hunting camp with awesome bonuses, deadly traps etc, nowhere in our line are there pets why would I want one now? Just my thoughts.

Gotta love Bounty hunters who think we should be relegated to pve only, sorry my traps should work on any living creature i throw it at. We are far more skilled making them than a BH, you guys master what scout? We've gone far far beyond that. traps have pretty long delays, they aren't fast to use, they can't be spammed for teh win! They are pretty useful but have a pretty fair rate of failure, i've been incapped plenty of times when this happens.

Rangers need a role in pvp, bounty hunters are a hybrid, and i'm sorry bounty hunter we are the masters here, to become a master ranger require we be a master scout too, BHs are a hybrid, they have nowhere enar the level of expertise we have with traps.

Being able to craft humanoid traps should come at master ranger, that would be a awesome crowning jewel.

People keep talking about the ewoks on endor in return of the jedi, what those ewoks did with materials in their environment is what a ranger does, those ewoks were using ranger type skills to help the rebels beat the empire, and they did a great job of it, this is why we need more traps and traps that work on people as well as animals, i'd even like to have a trap that could effect war machinery like AT STs, it's what rangers do in war, a team of rangers and commandos would be ideal AT ST killers working together. Of curse the best traps should be at the higher boxes of advanced trapping with the very best ones gained at mastery.

umm ok its not only rangers that need a "crowning glory", all professions should have something. granted this is the ranger message baords and thats what we should discuss. To work to attain master in any profession should have a final feat that opens to them making it worth the effort.

I dont agree with Ranger specific weapons.. That would kill the class in my eyes, it's a support class, you support your other class options with Ranger, or vise versa..

Ranger shouldn't get its own weapons, that wouldn't be fair to the classes who have mastered and don't get anything new after Novice..

Actually, that +10 Ranged defense and +10 Melee defense look pretty good at Master Ranger.

What that has to do with rangering, I really don't know. No, it's not a crowning jewel, but certainly better than nothing.

+whatever to uber crawl =not useful. Ever. What was the concept behind this anyway? I just never did get it. If it was made into a low stalk/skulk/stooped run, that would be cool. Crawling is for infants.

A lot of the current ranger skills could trickle down the skill trees to make room for better stuff at the top.

Rangers got a lot of love with the last big patch. I have faith it'll get even better in the future. In the meantime, I just enjoy being a ranger.

Well I really like this idea someone mentioned earlier that got lost in the shuffle...

at master ranger, how about add in a Conceal Self that does not reuire the rediculous components but is self only. Great for the exploring / adventurous ranger master making his way in the wilds of some dangerous outworld.

And I think The "Hunting Lodge" idea for ANY planet is a nice addition at Master as well. Those 2 would make me strive to hit Master soon.

"Conceal Self"

- I'm hoping that other changes suggested for the camo kits (such as lossening the resource requirements to simply any planet specific resource), will resolve the issues Rangers are having with the skill.

- I will make a note ofthe suggestionin the next list.

Just a comment for those who denigrateour bonus to crawl speed. As a rifleman, that bonus is like a cool balm on an annoying blister that is prone position. If you've never gone far into Rifleman, you'll likely not know or be annoyed by the odd warps that occur for those of us who love to hate to lay in the dirt.

Additionally, most of the riflemen that I know use the Laser rifle for at least part of their hunting. With the ideal range set at 60 on this weapon, there is many a time that a ripe fat target hop, skips and jumps its way those last 5m to be just outside range. We all know the keen force senses that the NPCs and creatures have that not only can they know where we are when we attack one of their friends...but they can even detect when we DON'T attack their friend because he was at 65m when the special move went through! (Those that don't know this one, do a ranged special move from 70m and watch the fun ensue. Be sure to have your burst run ready.)

As an aside, this has always been my favorite. I find it amusing that most targets can tell from 110m+ that I thought about attacking them. Using this logic, EVERY creature should probably attack me because I generally at least THINK about attacking everything. Giant dune kimogila....must KILL!

The crawl speed increases in Ranger don't stack with the Rifleman +rifle crawl speed, however it replaces it and that is fine IMO. For those who have not yet gotten there, Rifleman-Sneak allows covered position movement at full Ranger crawl speed.

Now what we REALLY need is a periscope so we can see through the high grass with all the graphic eye candy on!

That's great that rifle skills and ranger crawling skills go together so well. I appreciate the utility of prone mobility for riflemen. Having a fast crawl just doesn't seem like a ranger skill to me. And it sure as heck doesn't help all those melee rangers out there. Wayfaring to me is more about covering a LOT of ground in an effective manner. Crawling just doesn't do it for me. The group terrain negotiation and burst running skills from squad leader make a lot more sense here than individual rangers crawling a little faster.

Sounds to me like riflemen simply need better crawling skills, and that the ranger crawl is just happens to be a semi-convenientbandage tothat situation. Its like getting married just to become a citizen.

How about a fast stalk that takes little or no time to go to prone and vice-versa (almost like a moving kneeling position)? The fast stalk position would grant a posture bonus to camoflage skills, and would be more useful to all rangers, riflemen included.

Okay, I'm creeping the thread a bit here.... back on topic... As I stated before, there's room in the ranger skill trees to trickle some current skills down and put some of the great suggestions into the game to make the top (Master) more appealing and useful.

LOL jmatt. I love the jaws reference. I always use the -need a bigger boat- saying in RL. As for me, i agree with you also. I've dropped all my skills except camps and tracking (direction) I took up medic and CH and i'm having more fun now then i was before. I can still explore the hard planets and when mask sent breaks I send my sludge panther to attack and blast away with my LLC (ya I'm novice BH too 0031) If i get hurt i can use my stimB's that heal over 400 damage at a shot or i can set up a camp and heal my wounds up to 150 wounds at a shot) Heck, i even have a Med droid now and can heal wounds with out a camp.

Master Ranger means nothing, but to those who wanted to become Master...Great! I don't fault you at all. I just took SK points and use them else where, which has made the game more fun "for me"

I must say that I've become completely annoyed with the class, and the game in general. I don't see the drastic increase in harvesting over being a Master Scout. Cool.. I can track people and animals. Big Deal! I can throw traps at animals only if I want to get myself killed in the process (I'm a rifleman... why would I throw a trap instead of opening with a headshot3)?

The single largest benefit to playing the game is being a creature handler. Let's not kid ourselves... if you hunt you want a big pet intercept creatures before they get to you. You can take them down, then harvest and a large amount of both resources and XP. Could you have taken down the creature without the pet??? Only if you are a rifleman using concealshot and the target doesn't have buddies that can somehow see you even though your target can't.

So again... I pose the question. Ranger is not THAT big of a benefit over master scout in either gameplay or PVP (even worse in PVP). Why take this class at all? The only reason I haven't given it up as of yet is due to still having points available for my rifleman tree. Sooner or later, my Ranger classes will be going.
