Thread: It seems like Tiggs is saying we'll be waiting even longer...

Bugs are important to be fixed to be sure, but professions need attention beyond the addressing of bug complaints. Im talking about the usual staple of listed professions, us, SL, etc. Ultimately I think that a lot of what we consider to be "bugs", they dont because they have something totally different in mind. A similar statement was made about the "bug" of creatures and pets not having specials way back and they hinted that they had something better in mind. Clearly what they had in mind is much better than any "pet specials" could have been. I think that once the new CH system is worked out then our /examine will fall into line. I have similar thoughts about the fixing of camp repel and adhesive not working. Why would they bother fixing these two issues if they are simply going to redesign the individual systems one at a time? New camping system? No need to fix old camps. New trapping system? No need to fix old traps. My feeling is that while a large segment of the team is focussed on chasing down and fixing bugs a smaller team will start the processes of altering long standing systems. Notice the CH changes are huge yet theyve clearly expressed an intent to focus on bugs. That "focus" has left them plenty of opportunity to make some major modifications to a much maligned and abused profession. We might be next. This thought is both reassuring and troubling. Ive heard unconfirmed rumors that a dev said they were looking at moving us to a two tree pre-req as well as adding weapon certs and mods. This could be good, yet I feel strongly that this doesn't jive with the role many of us have started to look at, the ultimate scout. Creating just another combat profession is all well and good, but would eliminate a highly unique and potentially valuable contributor to the health of the game long term.
QFE. I'm hopeful that that's exactly what's going on in the background (new trapping system from the ground up, etc) but also fearful that it'll be an entertainer/slicing-style system rework and not what CH looks like it will be.

OK. If I remember correctly there was a post a long time back about what they had promised us, but hence I think it was removed. And I think it was from a red name. So long ago I don't even want to search for it.
You referring to the now-mythical Holocron document?

See I would be happy with just getting some of that.
I do like where /track was used.If you are in the region where Veermok live. I want to know how big this area "region" was supposed to be.
Trap spamming? Am I missing something? Is this refering to being able to stick the same state over and over without a pause?
Ok, I can see that......with ad-mesh it'd be another P-dart, and we'd be the flavor of the month again. But my question is, how long does it take for a dev to post that? Or how long does it take them to tell Paks or Owen that, so that they can tell us? I'm pretty sure that if I'm right, that this is a new statement, cause if it wasn't then we'd have heard about it before now, right? Or am I wrong?
And as far as camps repelling agro, why not just make the little tents in camps a small portable structure that works like a house. Go inside and bam! creatures can't get in to eat you! Give 'em a door and everything. Hell, Tusken Zealots hide from me in there little tents, and those thing don't even havea door, but I can't kill them, even if I go inside them.
And don't tell me it'd bea jedi exploit or some crap like that. You can already carry a fargin house and drop it at will on some planets.
I don't know.....my crazy ideas I guess.

I've argued the same thing many a time, but usually get the "it would cause too much lag" arguement and "oh, but then they'd have to draw the interior" crap. like one borvo-style camp in the middle of nowhere on dath would cause more lag than a HTFB just because it would have an interior
Would cause too much lag?
Have the people saying this BEEN to the Mining Outpost recently?

And you know what, I've been a master ranger since Oct. 2003, yet every week I'm here reading people who've dropped ranger saying that ranger is "broken." I read this and I'm out solo'ing nightsisters on dath or grouped with people hunting and I'm taking the agro because I'm doing the most damage or tracking albatrosses on naboo and I'm thinking, wow - do the people who perpetuate this nonsense even play ranger? And you know what? It turns out they don't - not at all. It seems like every serious thread we have, we have to deal with the tired-old-myth that we're playing a "broken" profession, and the people who keep raising this issue are, with a few exceptions, people who have little or no actual skillpoint investment in ranger.
So from now on, if you guys are going to come in here and spout nonsense, I'm going to start asking to see some credentials. No skillpoints in ranger - sorry, but you have to earn the right to complain, to rave and rant and throw temper tantrums, and it's time some of you guys start earning it.
